Welcome to Angela Jane Peach ~ Playing My Love

Beverly and Tamara: Welcome to SSLY. Thanks so much for joining us today Angela Jane. So first why don’t you tell us a little about yourself?

peachLol, always the trickiest question to answer! I grew up on the awesomely beautiful Isle of Wight, UK and despite always wanting to be a writer, I went through every other job going before actually cracking down into it. I’m a typical Piscean, and enjoy living every day to the max. I now live in the New Forest, which is so peaceful, and completed my Reiki Master last year. I am also a bus driver around Salisbury, which I love! Oh, and I have a bit of an obsession with perfumes-I own about 40.

Tamara: What do you HAVE to have when you are writing?

Music! Lots of good music! I go through different phases with each novel-Etta James, Ellie Goulding, Zero 7, Parov Stelar, Caravan Palace, Goldfrapp, Morcheeba, Kruder and Dorfmeister, Guns n Roses, Hed Kandi, Norah Jones…the list is pretty wide and varied to suit my mood, and also the scene of what I’m writing.

Beverly: Goldfrapp? Hmmm. Let’s check that out.
Oh! I love that song! When did you start to write, and who influenced you?

I wrote my 1st novel when I was about 11 and I think I had been influenced by everything I’d read and seen to be honest! I was like a sponge for fantasy worlds, whether it be in a book or a film, and I didn’t care what genre it was! But I suppose Steven King was my earliest influence.

Tamara: What do you think are the qualities that make up a “hero”?

Hmm, I don’t like a perfect hero if I’m honest. When I’m writing, I make sure my main heroines have ample flaws because it makes them more realistic. So what I think ‘makes’ a hero is when the reader loves them despite these flaws.

Beverly: Can you describe your favorite character? And which of your books is he/she in? How do you come up with your characters?

My favourite character is either Darcy from ‘Playing My Love’ or Sarah from ‘In Reflection.’ Darcy was just really fun, and I loved her a lot. She’s happy-go-lucky, funny, easy to get along with, excitable and romantic and very easy to fall in love with.

Sarah was my favourite but in a completely different way. I think I built up her character in my head for weeks before writing it, so I felt so comfortable with her down to earth nature. I almost hated myself for what I did to her in the novel though! Lol!

My characters just seem to develop by themselves in my head as I plan the story-I know if I have to struggle with a character, I need to get rid of them!

Tamara: What are the hardest scenes for you to write? Suspense? Sex? Dialogue? And why?

Ooh, tricky! Let me just say I have NO problems with the sex scenes! Haha, they’re my favourites! I occasionally come across a scene that is like wading through mud and it takes me such a long time to get through it…but it can happen at any time in the novel to be honest. Kind of takes me by surprise!

Beverly: What is your favorite scene in your favorite book?

What??? I can’t possibly pick one! That’s a crazy question! Hahaha!

Tamara: Who would you choose as your “book boyfriend/girlfriend”? From what book? Author?

I would probably choose a character named Annah from one of my favourite books ‘Irrational Numbers’ by E.A. Gray (I even named Gray in PML after the author because I loved it so much!)

Beverly: What is the kinkiest thing you’ve ever done? Or would like to? What? We are all about the love!

Hahaha, without getting myself into too much trouble, I wouldn’t like to specify on the kinkiest thing! Um, there’s not much I haven’t tried as I’m all about trying things at least once! I like all the ‘naughty’ side of sex as well as the love, let’s just say!

Tamara: What are your favorite types of heroines? Do you like the damsel in distress who needs saving or the kick-ass variety? Why?

I think I prefer the kick-ass ones, but there is always a certain appeal to the vulnerable ones-just as long as they aren’t too helpless.

Beverly: What was your worst date ever?

My date took us to our local graveyard-normally wouldn’t mind this sort of destination as it would have been interesting, especially as it was quite an atmospheric evening! However, he thought someone else was turning up (and told me this) so just spent the whole time fairly disinterested! Never let our mates set us up again!

Tamara: If you were stranded on a desert island, what three things would you want to have with you? (You have food, water, shelter, all the necessities, so nothing mundane)

My guitar so I could learn to play like a badass! A complete guide to every language on this planet so I could be fluent in every tongue. Lastly, and obviously, an insane amount of pens and paper to write on!

Beverly: What is your “guilty pleasure”?

Hahaha, I know what I want to say, but will go with eating pretty much whatever I want, whenever I want. I have no concept of calorie intake etc-I just know that I eat a balanced healthy diet as well as junk!

Tamara: Oh! Now our imaginations will work overtime! What dream or goals have you yet to realize?

Skydive (hopefully this year will be the year!!) and climbing Machu Picchu in Peru! Ooh, and to perfect lucid dreaming!

Beverly: What was your most embarrassing moment or the craziest thing you’ve done? C’mon dish!

There have been many! But a couple of embarrassing things stand out to me related to bus driving-both where I thought my bus was empty! In the 1st, I started singing along to a Corinne Bailey Rae song (loudly AND badly) for a good 5 minutes before I became aware that there was someone stood right next to me looking very embarrassed. Tried to cover it up by pretending I was coughing, but it was pointless! The 2nd was where I drove for about 4 miles practicing saying “I’d like coffee and a donut” in a New York or Irish accent…for no reason whatsoever! Just to pass the time! Yes, there was someone behind me then as well!

Tamara: LOL! Now THAT is something to remember! If you were a color what would you be and why?

I’d be blue! Because it has so many beautiful shades and I love it the best! Hahaha, funny question!

Beverly: How do you know you’re in love?

I have no idea! I know when I am in love, but it is the strangest thing ever! You’re either in love or not, but you can’t make yourself fall in or out of love, whereas you can grow to like/love someone.

Tamara and Beverly: Okay. We are SSLY so we have to ask. Who loves you?

Um, I don’t know! Is this a trick question?? I’m all about one love, and everyone loving each other, so I’d like to think it’s returned! Lol

Now for some quick fun questions:

Boxers or briefs?
On me? Briefs. Someone else-either is sexy.

Coffee or Tea?

Tall, dark and handsome or Blond and buff?
Aagh, sorry, I like both again!!

Hairy chest or smooth?
On a woman, smooth, but on a man either! 😉

Chocolate or Vanilla?
Um, vanilla.

Kinky or Sweet?
Sorry…I like both!!

Fast or slow?
Again, both, depending on my mood! (not very good at these questions!!)

Public or private?
Public with stranger, private with partner

Top or bottom?
Not fussy! I’m pretty easy!

Playing my lovePlaying My Love
By Angela Jane Peach

I’d never believed in love at first sight. I mean, it had never happened to me, so I guess I just didn’t think about it. But then…
Darcy. Beautiful, kind, intelligent Darcy, who showed me a whole new meaning to the word love, and how to live when I thought there was nothing to live for.
While teaching me how to play the guitar a deep friendship developed between us, but it only made me want what I couldn’t have…or could I? Faced with difficult times and hard choices, Darcy becomes a crucial element in my life.

I’m hiding something from her though. Something big that could destroy all the trust we’ve built.

Was it love at first sight? No.

It was so much more.
