From Me to You #apeekatmylife

It’s cold. Don’t know what else to say. It’s Wisconsin in December, so it is to be expected. So I’m keeping warm writing spicy scenes, lol.

I’m almost done with Waking Tamara. Woo hoo! I’ve got four beta readers signed up to help find all my errors and screwed up timeline issues. I appreciate those ladies! This time I didn’t have any men. Almost all of my books I have at least one man double checking. You know, so I don’t mention bouncy, perky balls. 🤣

Here’s a sneak peek of a totally unedited portion of Waking Tamara. It will probably change a bit and I make no guarantees that it doesn’t have spelling or grammar issues. Those will be worked out (hopefully! There is always that ONE.)

Waking Tamara

The smell of decay wafted in the wind. Indra circled the sky, looking at the devastation below. His heart ached for the destruction. His wings beat to keep him aloft, sending him gliding in the currents around the town.

Indra back shifted his wings, hovering over the once bustling village. He blinked, his second eye lids came down, setting off his thermal imaging, looking for any heat signatures. He flew slowly over the town center, heading toward his aunt’s house, his home away from home.

Set away from human towns and cities, this was a haven for the paranormal. Or it was. His cousins, werewolves all, lived here. A ball of grief tightened his gut. He flew, looking for anything red. He’d thought, obviously mistakenly, that they would be spared. None of the dragons were affected by the diseases.

Few though they were, no dragons had died, except those who took a direct hit from a missile. He knew one or two, foolish enough to think they could stop one in midflight. Some might call it courage, but not him.

He settled down on the perch on his aunt’s house. The one his cousins added. He took a deep breath, then choaked. The stench of death permeated his nostrils. Stifling the roar that wanted to erupt, Indra closed his eyes, ignored the tears that rimmed his lashes. His talons gripped the wooden pole. The cracking of the wood had him loosening his grip. Chest aching, he shifted and stepped onto the landing of the stairs. He automatically grabbed clothes from the basket at the top, quickly dressing, swinging his backpack on, then headed down.

He stalled at the door. Dread at what he would find keeping him there, one hand on the door handle, the other pressing against the window. It was too quiet. Swallowing, Indra ignored the tears wetting his cheeks. He had to do this. Just in case.

Opening the door, he stepped through. The kitchen was empty. He glanced at the refrigerator. Pictures of him and his cousins hung on the front. Smiles, missing teeth, slicked up for church, graduation. Every occasion hung for all to see. It didn’t matter if they were dragon, werewolf, bear or human. Their grins marked each and every one as family.

It was truly unusual. His aunts and mother were all originally human. Each and every one of them became mates to paranormals. Family reunions were truly interesting. A desperate call from his mother to check on family, had him winging his way here. He caught his breath, stifling a sob. The smell alone spoke volumes.

No where in the village, even here, had he seen any heat signatures. Grabbing a snapshot of him and his cousins at the last reunion that hung haphazardly, he slid it into his backpack. Breathing shallowly, Indra turned toward the living room.

He grabbed the doorframe, a moan spilling from his lips. “No.” His aunt and uncle sat curled up, cuddling on a chair. On the couch, three of his four cousins lounged. Decay permeated the air. The television played the news, looping on the same broadcast Indra had seen played on every tv across the nation. “No.” He stepped into the room. His throat worked, tight now that tears ran unchecked down his face. “No.” Indra clenched his hands. This couldn’t be. He couldn’t stop the whimpers emerging. They should have been immune.

Hopefully this whetted your appetite! I’m working on the last portion of the book. I plan on finishing it and doing another run then it’s going out to beta readers in December and I’m expecting it back mid January. Then another round of corrections by me, then off to the editor.

So, I’m looking at the end of March, beginning of April to release it.

Finally! lol. This book truly has taken forever. But, I’ve also started the beginning of two of the other books in the series. While this one is out to my beta’s and editor I’ll be working on one of the others. Hark is the only one that is not yet figured out. I’ll have to see what adventures his sisters get up to. He’ll surely find his mate along the way.
