Getting Lucky – Release Blitz

Release Blitz:
Getting Lucky
Maggie Adams
Sept 30th

Lawrence “Lucky” Coalson is on the track of the arsonist that
torched his older brother’s construction company. The clues have led him to the
Mississippi Flame Casino, in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Taking a job as a bouncer there, he hopes to find a
connection or even the arsonist. What he finds is a blonde bombshell in a bit
of trouble, so like the alpha male he is, Lucky comes to the rescue.
But what happens in Vegas is about to follow him home – and
no one is prepared for the consequences.
“You do have a certain
charm, cowboy,” Claudia murmured as she leaned back in his arms.
He kissed her, quick
and hard, on the lips. “I’m just clearing the way for a fun filled evening,
He started around the
bar, but she grabbed the back of his shirt. “What makes you think I don’t have
Lucky turned in a
flash, grabbed her around the waist and slid his hand under her skirt to rub
her through her panties. “I know you’ve got plans, sugar. I can feel what
you’ve got in mind. It’s warm and moist.” He slipped his finger around the
silken barrier to slide against her wetness. She moaned when his finger left
her. He brought it to his lips. “And it tastes so sweet.”
Claudia came to her
senses as Lucky stepped back. She swung an arm to slap him, but he grabbed it
and pulled her close once again. “What the hell do you think you’re doing?” she
hissed. Even though she was pissed, her body throbbed against him.
“I’m just keeping it
real baby.  If we give them a show every
now and then, the word will spread, and pretty soon, we’ve got a casino full of
gambling voyeurs,” he murmured against her skin as he nibbled on her neck.
“Now, I’ve got to go put out more fires.” He kissed her again, amid cheers and
bar pounding, and then hopped over the bar with a grin and a bow. “Oh, and lose
the panties, darlin’.”
Claudia shook her head
and grinned. He definitely wasn’t boring her.

My life is like a walking, talking sitcom from I Love Lucy, but I love it,
although people do tend to keep their distance from me!
Writing has always been my dream, with reading my favorite hobby. When I’m not
writing, I can be found singing, dancing, and cooking, often all at the same

you read my books, keep your eyes wide open – I’m in there somewhere! Happy

To Live Again
Melody Dawn

Sept 29th – Oct 3rd

Chloe has the perfect life or so everyone thinks.

She tried to leave her past behind, but it follows her like a dark shadow. Drowning in guilt, she’s dying to live, but sees no way out. So she tries to fool herself and everyone else into believing she is fine.

But Jayson sees through the act that Chloe puts up for everyone else and he’s going to do everything in his power to help her to live again.

Can Chloe let go, or will that night forever ruin her future?

Excerpts (Please only use one)

Excerpt 1

I feel myself starting to wake up; it’s that time between sleep and waking where you are still sleepy, but mostly aware of your surroundings. It’s dark in Jayson’s room, but it’s the type of darkness that occurs at the night’s latest time, right before daylight begins and the sun comes up.

Looking over at him, I can see that he sleeps the sleep of a person peaceful with himself: there’s no muttering, twitching, all of the things I do when I’m asleep. A smile forms on my lips because I realize that I did none of that last night; of course, it probably helped that Jayson put me in a sex coma.

As I start to move around, I feel sore, sticky, but extremely blissful. I probably should have cleaned up afterwards, but sex coma, remember? Realizing that I need to go to the restroom like last year, I try to get out of bed without waking him. Once I’m up and moving, I see the clock…its 4:12 AM…I think my cheeks are about to crack from grinning because it doesn’t say 5:48. That has to be some sort of progress and closure. All I can think of is soon as I’m done…I’m looking in his mirror!

Excerpt 2

Looking bewildered at my sudden change of heart, she asks, “Why did you make me stop?”

I look at her beautiful face and I know this is it; I’m letting her go.

Trying to keep my voice from cracking, I say, “Because I can’t do what you did to me. This was a mistake for me to come here. It’s like I said in my voicemail…I love you, but I hate you more.”

I pull her to me and let myself feel her body up against mine one more time. I lean down and kiss her cheek and tell her, “Have a good life…that’s what I want for you. I want for you to find peace and start living…it just can’t be with me.”

More and more tears fall from her beautiful eyes and I know if I don’t get out of there, I’m going to cave in. I turn away from her, walk to the door and open it, knowing I’m walking away from the girl that would have been my wife, the mother of my children, and all the other important parts of my life. My heart hurts, my gut burns, and I feel like my head is splitting in two. Still hearing her cry, I shut the door and walk down the stairs to my truck. I know this is for the best…for both of us. So, why do I feel like my other half died and I’m left to be in this world alone?

Excerpt 3

Turning towards me, she looks into my eyes and I tell her, “One day, I’m going to marry you. You’re going to be a social worker and I’m going to be an ER doctor. We’re going to have at least two or three kids that are going to make us crazy, but we’re going to love them like there’s nothing more important in life. I’m going to buy you a house on the water because I know how much you love it and we are going to be happier than you ever dreamed you could be. And of course, I’m going to fuck you every day, maybe twice. Most likely twice because one of those times, I’m going to be making love to you, not just fucking you. But, more importantly, I’m going to be loving you. You will never be lonely again and I’ll love you until I take my last breath.”

She smiles tearfully at me and says, “I’m going to love that house on the water and those kids that have their daddy’s pouty look when he doesn’t get his way. I’m going to cook for you every day even when I’m working. If you’re working a late hospital shift, I’ll bring you some dinner so you won’t be hungry. And, if your work interferes with the fucking/lovemaking schedule, we’ll just have to make sure to find an empty room at the hospital. But, most of all, I’ll be loving you. I’ll love you forever and if you were to go before me, when I get there, I’ll find you and love you some more.”

I pull out my phone and click on my Spotify playlist. When I find the song I’m looking for, I turn it on, pull her to her feet, and wrap my arms around her. The song, “All of Me,” by John Legend plays and my arms tighten around her. She lays her head on my shoulder and we dance right there in our own little world. I sing softly in her ear the words from the song that talk about all of me loving all of her.

Though the song clicks off, we still stand there holding on to each other.

She looks at me and asks, “This is really happening, isn’t it?”

I kiss her lightly and say, “It is.”

“This dream is heartless,” he mumbled. “I want to wake up.”
The word heartless stung her. What did he mean by that?
“Why do you want to wake?” she asked.
“I want to be free of you, but you never let me go. I’m so sick of this torture. Dreams and fantasies are all I have, and they are not enough. They only leave me with this constant pain…Flesh and blood, that’s what I want. Since I can’t touch you, I wish you would go away. Leave me to my hopeless desolation and let me go numb to your memory.”
“What if you had me again? Not a dream, but me?”
A feral sound rumbled deep in his chest and the depth of his eyes bottomed out, pulling her down. “I don’t think you could handle what I would do to you.” His hands clenched. “I don’t know if I could handle what would happen…I think if I had you in my arms again…we both might break.”

Ari stirred, sniffing the air. It was different again, cleaner. He wondered how many years had passed since his last awakening. He set his head back on his hatch mates back. Raising his head up again, Ari glanced around, his golden eyes whirling with color. He no longer had a desire to sleep.

Ari stood, sniffing and stretching. Looking around he noticed some of his hatch mates also rising.

“It smells different.” Juevatorj rumbled. Her eyes were whirling, sparkling in the darkness of the cave. “It is clean.”

Ari sniffed the air again and rumbled in agreement. Crag stretched his wingspan to full-length. All around wings were stretched and tested. Air moved quickly with a half a dozen of them waking up to the world again.

“Not everyone is waking up.” Ari peered at the ones still curled up together. They blinked at those of them moving around and closed their eyes, not yet interested in the outside world.

Juevatorj bumped heads with Ari. “That’s okay.”

“Yes, that is okay.” A deeper baritone wound through the cave. All of those awake turned their heads toward the sound. “Come my little ones. I will explain.”

Ari, Juevatorj, Crag, Belisa, Hark and Rog lumbered off after the sound of the voice coming from a tunnel that wandered through the cave. At one point they had to swim through the lava. Warmth wrapped around them and they played until they were sharply called to follow. The second voice was a lighter tenor, firm and instant; one they knew better than to disobey. At once, they ceased their games and continued the circuitous path, sniffing at the gold and silver, and collecting bits of colored gems they dug out of the walls.

Ari was the first to stumble out. Rearing back, he was shoved from behind, pushed into the light as his eyes whirled in the too bright sun. He rolled forward, his momentum stopped by a rock. He and his hatch mates chirped in distress, the sudden light harsh against eyes that had spent centuries in darkness, relieved only by the glow of lava.

Deep trilling sounded as they all came to rest outside. Their sire and dam were laughing at their less than graceful exit.

“Juevatorj, come out of the cave.” Their sire spoke and Juevatorj crept out, belly against the ground and head tucked low. “Do not be afraid.” They had learned to trust that voice since before even hatching.

“Use your first lids, protect your eyes.” Their dam spoke.

Ari and his siblings rumbled happily. Her voice was one of their first memories in the egg.

Their sire and dam spoke often to them, comforting them in the shell. Letting them know how wonderful they were, how beautiful and strong. They greeted them upon each awakening.

Ari blinked and discovered that the light was not as bright when he opened his eyes again. He trilled in triumph, arching back and spreading his wings in joy. His siblings too, let forth their joy as they learned to control the brightness.

“Very good, my little ones.” His sire had a look of contentment on his face. “We can once again join in the world. We have been sleeping a very long time.”

Excerpt 1

The last vestiges of summer

Second Chance, Pennsylvania

Water cascaded off her nude body. Small rivulets ran over her breasts and down her slightly rounded stomach, disappearing into the surface of the lake.

She was one with the water.

She could, literally, become one with it.

Moonlight reflected off the mirror-smooth surface, adding a soft glow to the night. Crickets serenaded her with their chirping song. A wolf howled in the distance. Nature cocooned her.

She grinned and dove under. Liquid embraced her, still heated from the sun’s rays of earlier in the day. Her body became insubstantial, fragmenting into molecules of H2O. Disorientation left her bewildered, but the feeling came and went. Weightless warmth enveloped her, and the ebb and flow of the tide lulled her into blissful relaxation.

The moon slid across the sky. Hours had passed. Her body became corporeal with a single thought. After regaining her human form, she cut through the water with powerful strokes and rose to the surface in a rush of bubbles.

The night air chilled her damp skin, raising goose pimples along her flesh. She pushed the long fall of golden blonde tresses from her face and glanced into the deep, lush woods that ringed the lake. Soon the leaves would change to shades of gold, orange, red, and brown. In would come the autumnal chill. Her time in the waters would decrease, and then winter would set in and freeze her out.

When that happened, she’d resort to the swimming pool located on the basement level of her large log home. Even with the greenery she had sprinkled about, it never fully replaced the exhilaration of the lake, the feel of fresh air against her skin, and the scent of the wilderness.

She repeated the cycle, year after year. The monotony had long since worn short on her nerves.

At one time, she’d had someone to break the mundane tones of her life.

But she had ruined that.

He hadn’t understood the need, the drive, to be one with the water.

She had allowed it to build a wall between them.

But how could he have understood? Hell, she’d have trouble believing the truth, if it wasn’t her life.

The root of their problems had been otherworldly, as her father was human and her mother was a water nymph.

The nymph side of her heritage presented two problems. First, she needed daily contact with a body of water. Like her pool in the basement. Second, she also needed a daily dose of sex. Preferably more than once a day. After all, the term “nymphomaniac” had been born of a nymph’s sex drive.

No, he had never known the truth of her desires.

She had pushed him away, afraid of exposing her real self.

And that fear, that uncertainty, had left her alone…and needy.

Excerpt 2

Coop thanked Smythe as he spun toward the bank of elevators. He pressed the “up” button and waited for the car to descend. The stainless steel doors opened with a bing. Stepping through the threshold, he hit the button for the third floor. He checked his reflection in the mirrored panels gracing the walls. The ride seemed to take longer than normal, which annoyed the hell out of him. His foot tapped impatiently on the carpeted floor.

The doors opened again, and Coop darted from the car to the judge’s chambers. His long, ground-eating strides took him to his destination in under a minute.

Coop didn’t bother to knock. He simply swung the door open and strode into the room. Sitting behind a large, ornately carved desk was Judge Hawker. Her gray hair haloed her head in a tidy mass of curls. Lines deeply etched her haggard face, affirming she was a kick-ass bitch.

She tapped her pen on her ink blotter. “So nice of you to join us, Mr. Martin.” Her voice cracked like an old Victrola record player.

Coop’s gaze fell upon the female occupant sitting in one of two black leather armchairs. Long, golden-blonde hair cascaded over the back, beckoning for him to run his fingers through the silken stands.

Anger, both at his reaction to seeing her and the fact she was there in the first place, rose up like a leviathan from the deep. The muscles in his jaw tightened, and his lips formed a thin line.

He walked in front of the woman. “Naida,” he greeted, through clenched teeth.

Coop stared at her beautiful face. Naida’s kissable, full lips formed a soft, forced smile that her large, doe-shaped brown eyes didn’t reflect. A form-fitting, cream-colored sweater hugged her breasts and torso, doing little to hide her lithe figure. Her hands rested in her lap. Long, jean-clad legs crossed at the ankle. The brown of her high-end leather satchel matched her well-worn hiking boots.

“Cooper,” she replied.

He inhaled sharply through his nose, never breaking eye contact with her, and enunciated each of the words that followed very clearly, “Do. Not. Call. Me. Cooper.”

* * * *

Naida hadn’t meant to say it so sarcastically. It had just slipped out. A defense mechanism. A way to cover the instantaneous hurt that had rocketed like a missile to her heart.

The other option had been picking her jaw off the ground. She hadn’t expected Coop to walk through the door.

His stiff-shouldered stance emanated anger. And rightfully so.

He had been wronged.

By Naida herself.

She ripped her gaze away from Coop and turned toward the bitch who had set her—no, us—up.

Judge Hawker grinned, exposing age-worn teeth. The pack of cigarettes she smoked a day did little to detract from the look. “Do you have something to say, Miss Bouche?” Her voice grated Naida’s nerves and reminded her of gravel scraping over an asphalt road. The hag had the nerve to broaden her smile.

Naida rose from the armchair with fists clenched at her sides, nails biting into the flesh of her palms. “Why is he here?”

“Why are you here?” he retorted, his steel-gray eyes darting from one female to the other and shooting daggers at same time. He shrugged out of his jacket and tossed it onto the empty armchair.

One of those daggers pierced Naida’s heart, which thudded hard against her breastbone. How she hated Coop looking at her with such disdain. But she had brought it on herself.

Three years ago, she had filed for divorce from Coop with no explanation why. Just up and went to an attorney. Had he done anything wrong? No. Had he begged and pleaded for an explanation? Yes.

She had merely shrugged her shoulders and walked away.

That action had taken her away from the one man, the one human, she’d ever loved.

I’m a writer of sexy romances with a kick of heat! Though my contracted stories are paranormals, I haven’t discounted writing a contemporary or two.

I live in Pennsylvania just a hair shy of the Maryland border. I live with a family I adore which includes two furry feline children and a furry canine daughter.

In my spare time, I’m more than likely watching television. I watch Bones, Blue Bloods, NCIS:New Orleans, or some sort of car show like Wheeler Dealers.

I’m a huge sports fan, football in particular. During the fall/winter, I’m watching Notre Dame or Penn State on Saturdays and the Saints or Colts on Sunday.

I’ve been known to have my nose buried in a book. Nora Roberts/JD Robb and Clive Cussler are favorites of mine. I know, I know…Clive Cussler isn’t a romance author. The man can weave a tale of adventure like no other!
