Stylo Fantome ~ Separation

separation blog tour banner

Can the Devil be Forgiven?

Everything is fun and games till someone gets hurt, and what Jameson Kane did to Tatum O’Shea goes so far beyond hurt, he is well into the realm of unforgivable. Tate says she wants him gone for good, and he quickly learns that the old saying, “you don’t know what you’ve got till it’s gone”, is most definitely true.

But Jameson has never been very good at following instructions, and when Satan decides to seek redemption, he’ll go to great lengths to get it. He proposes one last game – one to end them all, if she agrees to play. He is very confident that he can win, but Tate warns him that’s not possible; she will not lose again. Little does she know, Jameson is prepared to do whatever it takes. Prepared to lay the entire world at her feet. Prepared to bear his soul.

What he didn’t count on, though, was handing the damn thing over.

Now he can only pray that his evil ways haven’t rubbed off on Tate too much. Sometimes, it’s very difficult to tell who the Devil really is …

WARNING: contains a semi-reformed devil, a woman scorned, and more Sanders than anyone has a right to witness. Also graphic sexual situations and strong language.

Meet the Author

Crazy woman living in an undisclosed location in Alaska (where the need for a creative mind is a necessity!), I have been writing since …, forever? Yeah, that sounds about right. I have been told that I remind people of Lucille Ball – I also see shades of Jennifer Saunders, and Denis Leary. So basically, I laugh a lot, I’m clumsy a lot, and I say the F-word A LOT.

I like dogs more than I like most people, and I don’t trust anyone who doesn’t drink. No, I do not live in an igloo, and no, the sun does not set for six months out of the year, there’s your Alaska lesson for the day. I have mermaid hair – both a curse and a blessing – and most of the time I talk so fast, even I can’t understand me.

Yeah. I think that about sums me up.

“I can’t give you answers I don’t have, Adam,” she said, keeping her voice level.
And her gaze off his mouth.
She really, really wanted to feel that mouth against hers. All of a sudden, it seemed very important, like the center of her world. It might even be the most important thing in the world in that very moment.
“What can you give me?” he asked, his voice low.
She was imagining the need in his voice. Imagining it because she wanted to hear it there. Except when she forced herself not to look at his mouth, she noticed that he was looking at hers.
Hunger lashed at her like a whip and she curled her hands into fists to keep from reaching for him.
“What do you want?” she asked, her voice hardly more than a whisper.
His lids drooped low.
Silence hung between them, heavy, taut, sharp as a blade. Then, as it stretched out for almost longer than she could bear it, he reached up and rested his hand on her hip. “I want things I shouldn’t. I always did.”
His thumb slid beneath the hem of her T-shirt and she could feel her breathing hitch in her chest. This was insane, the way she wanted.
This was insane, the way she needed.
But then again, she’d taken one look at him behind the bar and she’d wanted. Each second since then seemed to draw that need even tighter and now, standing there, practically surrounded by him, she felt like she was coiled like a spring, just ready to snap.
Maybe it was stupid. Maybe it was insane.
And she didn’t care.
She’d been careful for years.
She’d shut herself down for years.
She could have one damn night where she didn’t have to worry about anything and everything, couldn’t she?
Slowly, she lifted one hand and rested it on his chest. Through the thin material of the shirt he wore, she could feel the heat of him and it scalded her. His heart hammered against her palm, hard, fast beats that seemed to echo the rhythm of her own. Swallowing, she dragged her eyes upward and found herself caught in his gaze. Caught, held.
“What do you want?” she asked softly.
He just stared at her.
And when she leaned forward and pressed her lips to his, he held still. Almost like he was frozen. But she felt the hunger, like it was a beast, snarling from within. It practically vibrated inside him and she pressed closer, desperate to unleash that hunger and just feel.
To let go for a little while and have somebody else—no. Not somebody else.
To have Adam with her while they both enjoyed the ride.
She stroked her tongue across his lips and he just stood there.
She caught his lower lip between her teeth, tugged and he just stood there.
She kissed her way across his cheek, his jawbone and down his neck. He just stood there. His pulse raced under her touch, but he didn’t do anything. Didn’t even show any sign that he wanted her.
Other than the fact that she could feel it.
Doubt started to whisper inside her and she went to pull back.
That was when he moved.

“I want to show you the fun of playing with pain and pleasure.” Royce took a stool from the corner of the room and placed it in an open space. “Take your clothes off,” he instructed and left the room before she could argue.
Jessica stood staring at the stool for a moment, worried about what was about to happen. Other than a playful swat to her backside here and there, they hadn’t done anything out of the ordinary, at least physically, on their dates. Reminding herself that she had begun this journey of exploration and she would see it through, she began to remove her clothing.
When Royce returned, she stood behind the stool, her arms crossed over her chest. In an attempt to keep her modesty, she clenched her legs together.
He shook his head as he brought a small cloth bag to the coffee table. “Let me see you.” He stood over her.
Although she was at least a head shorter than him, until he stood over her naked body, she didn’t feel petite.
She looked away, toward the hallway he had just emerged from and dropped her arms to her sides and stood with her legs straight.
“Sit on the stool.” He was giving short commands, but his voice held a softness that comforted her.
Jessica slid onto the stool, keeping her hands folded in her lap and her feet on the lower bar of the stool. She watched him open the cloth bag and pour colored clothespins onto the table. She chewed the inside of her lip while watching him sort them into colored groups—green, blue, red, and white.
“Doing laundry?” she attempted a joke.
He grinned up at her from over his shoulder and continued with his work. Finally finished, he stood up and pulled a thick, black strip of fabric from the back pocket of his jeans.
“No laundry, but remind me later to tell you about what a friend did with his submissive and some clothespins when she kept forgetting to do the laundry.”
He played with the fabric in his hand, and she shifted in her seat. “We are going to play a memory game. I’m going to place these clothespins on your breasts. When I do so, I will tell you what color I’m placing. Your job is to remember what color is where. Then I’ll ask you to tell me what color a particular pin is. If you remember right, pleasure will be yours. If you get it wrong, the pin will be removed unpleasantly.”
Her face paled as he explained the game. “It will hurt,” she stated the obvious.
“Yes, but only a little. My intention isn’t to injure you. It’s to play.” He ran the back of his hand down the length of her nose.
She found the action oddly comforting.
“You’ll see. The good and bad mix together, until you aren’t really sure where one stops and the other begins and then it all just feels good.” His smile was reassuring.
“Okay.” She nodded and closed her eyes. He tied the fabric tightly behind her head. Her breathing became deep and controlled.
“This one is blue.” He placed a soft kiss to the inside of her right breast and pinched the skin before placing the clothespin….

There are no words for desire this hot…but he’ll sure try to find them.
The Boot Knockers Ranch, Book 2

If there’s one thing that Damian Vince can do well, it’s read women. With his trademark wink and sexy drawl, he’s the most wanted cowboy on the Boot Knockers Ranch, a spa where sexually challenged women come to get charmed out of their uptight panties.

He’s also the ranch’s bad boy—he hates to admit he’s had his mug-shot taken more than once. But now he’s on the right path, ranching and fulfilling women’s desires.

Prim grade-school teacher Ruthie Johansson prays Damian will be able to fix her strict upbringing that’s left her leery of men and intercourse, though her body aches for both. Once she sets eyes on the muscular, auburn-haired Damian, she throbs only for him.

As they get skin to skin, her instinct touches something Damian’s been struggling to hide from his fellow Boot Knockers. A secret he’s spent a lifetime keeping buried beneath bar brawls and a bad attitude. But with Ruthie’s gentle coaxing, he just might give overcoming it another try—as long as they do their homework in bed.

Warning: Contains a bad boy with a vulnerable underside, a squeaky clean woman who wants to get dirty, and a secret shame only love and compassion can heal. Prepare to drool while he parses her sentences…one sexy verb at a time.

BOOK 1 – Pushin’ Buttons

Ruthie clasped her hands and fought to keep from wringing them. The backstage area was alive with chatter. Excited giggles echoed around her as she waited for the cowboys.

She looked at the other women. They were as diverse as the cowboys on the brochure. Women with every shade of hair and body type huddled together, some talking quietly about what to expect.

With a knot of nausea in her throat, Ruthie didn’t feel like speaking. Besides, when she stepped onto the stage, she would be alone. No one could save her from what she’d chosen to do.

Isabel, the stage manager, buzzed between girls, dashing notes on her clipboard. “You’re up third, Ruthie.”

Nodding, she battled the urge to bolt for the door. Boarding the jet to Texas had given her the illusion she was going on a nice vacation. But once she’d arrived at the ranch and been taken into a private screening room to choose from a selection of cowboys, her real purpose hit hard.

She’d come to find the most sexual pleasure she’d ever known, which would be easy considering she hadn’t found it with her former lovers.

Images of the five cowboys she’d selected revolved through her mind. They were in the audience right now. In a few minutes she’d step onto the stage and they’d fight over who would win her.

She dragged in a wavering gasp just as Isabel announced the first contestant was to take the stage.

Holding her breath with the rest of the women, Ruthie watched from the sidelines as a tall girl with a pretty face and dishwater-blonde hair stood before the cowboys.

Ruthie’s mind clouded, and she stared at her simple, flat leather sandals. How had she gotten here? From the third-grade classroom to a sex club. Her face burned.

By the time she lifted her gaze again, the first woman was coming offstage.

With a cowboy.

Ruthie felt her jaw drop as she came face-to-face with the dashing, muscled man in worn denim, boots and hat. His shirt was blue plaid, sleeves rolled to his elbows, displaying a tattoo of a rodeo belt buckle on his forearm.

“Take good care of her, Elliot,” Isabel said with a grin.

He tipped his hat at Isabel and hooked the woman’s arm more securely over his. He led her through the throng of women and out the side door.

Oh my God. Oh my God.

Ruthie gasped for breath when contestant number two took the stage. She wore ill-fitting clothes that disguised her body. When she took her place in the spotlight, she smiled, and her whole appearance transformed.

“I wish we could hear what they’re saying,” someone beside Ruthie whispered.

Me too. What should she expect? More Q&A? How would she ever keep her knees from knocking when faced with all that testosterone?

“Get ready, Ruthie. It’s almost your turn.”

The knot in her belly pulled tight, and she was pretty sure she knew what expression she wore. In the classroom, it was one she’d come to recognize early—right before the cleanup.

Contestant number two came off stage, grinning like Miss America and guided by a tanned hunk with his hand on the small of her back.

Ruthie shivered, more aware of herself than ever before. Within minutes she’d be that girl, and she’d have some cowboy’s hand on her.

All OVER me with any luck.

“Ruthie, you’re on!”

Sucking in a deep breath, she stepped onto the stage. Her sandals were almost noiseless on the polished floor. As soon as she stepped into the spotlight, she broke out in a sweat. Her watermelon-colored cotton sundress clung to her damp skin, and she squeezed her fingers together until her knuckles popped.

Her heart throbbed heavily in her ears. Through the glare of lights, she could just make out the line of cowboys. They sat in plush leather chairs with red buttons before them.

Oh my God, I’ve landed on a game show. And I’m the prize.

Virtual Book Tour – August 31 – September 27

Their Rigid Rules Excerpt #1 Short version
“You win.”

In shock, Stuart stared through the crack. No! It was not supposed to go like this. Joe turned to her. He questioned her statement, too.

She continued. “I thought Stuart was my one. Maybe I’m wrong.”

No! You’re not wrong! I am the one! Every cell in his body wanted to rush into the room. He gripped the doorframe to stop himself. He didn’t want to hear anymore, but he couldn’t move. Joe gaped as well.

“Are you supposed to be my one, Joey? We’ve been through so much together. I’ve always thought of you as my best friend and brother. Our love is deep and strong. It’s good and pure. Nobody could ever break that. That’s why I’m wondering if you really are my one. You’ve heard Mom’s stories about the chemistry of love and what it’s supposed to be like. Is that us?”

Stuart couldn’t breathe. He and Taylor had chemistry. She didn’t feel it, too?

“Maybe that is us. I’ve loved you my whole life,” Joe replied.

Stuart felt a knife slowly breach his ribs and pierce his heart as Taylor leaned over and kissed Joe. It wasn’t a peck either. The pain froze him as if ice encased his body. Still, he couldn’t turn away…

Their Rigid Rules Excerpt # 2 Long version
TAYLOR WALKED TOWARD THE END of the bar and saw Eva in her seat next to the professor. She grimaced at her sudden twinge of jealousy. Talking to people, especially guys, came easy to Eva. Once, she had Eva teach her how to flirt. It came off embarrassingly fake. As a result, she left the hair twisting and eyelash fluttering to the pros, like Eva and Cindy. Taylor loved Eva like a sister so why would she care that men liked her better? She had her plan, and she’s only talking football, and, jeez, he’s her professor. She sat on the other stool closest to the TV. Looking back at her, Eva grinned. Frowning, Taylor switched their beer mugs and averted her eyes to hide her hurt feelings.

Eva laughed. “Settle down,” she whispered to her. “I’m going to give Joe hell for making us watch on this tiny screen. He just walked in.” She leaned closer. “He’s all yours.”

Stunned, she choked on her mouthful of beer. Was she that easy to read? Sips from now on, she told herself. Don’t make a fool of yourself in front of your professor. Dr. Morgan moved to Eva’s stool to be closer — to her or to the TV? God, she needed to calm down. Blowing out a breath, she pushed her mug away. She tried to focus on the game.

“I hope the coach told special teams to stay in their lanes. I don’t want to get burned again like last week,” she said.

“Hey, you want another pitcher?” Johnny asked, already grabbing the empty one.

“Coke for me. I have class tomorrow, and the professor has me taking a ton of notes,” she replied with a smirk.

“Make it two,” Dr. Morgan said to him. He grinned and leaned toward her ear. “I heard he likes giving essay tests, too.”

She smiled at the intimacy. His warm breath on her ear made her body rigid with awareness. She didn’t dare lose herself in his gaze. After the game, she grabbed her bag and jacket. Dr. Morgan followed her out the door. She zipped her jacket against the chilly afternoon. All of the leaves had turned brown and created a wet, slippery layer across the sidewalk. She walked with care.

“Are you on campus?” he asked beside her.

“Yeah, Burke’s Hall. Where are you staying?”

“The guest apartments for visitor speakers and professors who want to stay on campus.”

“I’m going that way, too,” she said, secretly happy to be with him a little longer.

Dana D’Angelo

Dana is the only girl from a family of nine children. As a teenager, there was a constant battle for the T.V. remote, which she lost so she was forced to find her amusement in books. Soon after she discovered historical romance novels from best selling romance writers like Johanna Lindsay, Judith McNaught and Julie Garwood. She read as many as 10 romance books per week, and spent hours with her nose pressed between the pages, skipping meals and cutting out sleep. Medieval romance and love in the Regency era was just too exciting.

It wasn’t until she was married with two young kids that she decided to take a stab at writing her own historical romance books. She is intrigued with the idea of writing romance fiction that could bring hours of enjoyment to readers, help them escape from reality, and perhaps remind them how sweet love is and should be. These are the things that she enjoys as a reader, and these are the things that she wants to give back as a writer.

Dana resides in a city east of Toronto, Canada. When not writing or reading, she’s dining at local restaurants with her husband and kids and enjoying the spectacular foods of the world.

Author Interview

Beverly and Tamara: Welcome to SSLY. Thanks so much for joining us today. So first why don’t you tell us a little about yourself?
Thanks for having me today, ladies! Ok, about me. I’m married to my college sweetheart, and am a stay-at-home mom. I decided that I wanted to pursue a career in writing and so being at home gives me the perfect opportunity to explore this path. Right now I’m having an excellent time telling my stories and delving into my imaginary medieval world.
Tamara: What do you HAVE to have when you are writing?
My computer. It has all the documents that I need (ie. character descriptions, plot outlines etc) to stay on track with my writing.
Beverly: When did you start to write and who influenced you?
I started writing stories in my teens and was most influenced by older works by Johanna Lindsay, Julie Garwood and Judith McNaught.
Tamara: What do you think are the qualities that make up a “hero”?
In my opinion, the hero has to be bad-ass on the exterior but at the same time, he needs to be a nice guy on the inside. It definitely doesn’t hurt if he’s also sexy, good looking and has a hot body 🙂
Beverly: Can you describe your favorite character? And which of your books is he/she in? How do you come up with your characters?
My favorite character is Gareth from Fallen Knight, the third book of the Knights of Honor Trilogy. Gareth is a good knight, trained in the art of war, and from young, has maintained the high standards set by the chivalric code of honor. However his life is drastically altered when his brother is murdered, and his world, which was black and white, becomes shades of grey. Although Gareth wallows in his despair, he’s able to rise out of it. I admire real and fictional characters that are able to overcome physical and/or mental obstacles, so this might explain why Gareth is my favorite character.
As to how I came up with this character? Well Gareth played minor parts in books 1 and 2 so his personality was already established in those books. When it came time to write his story, I only had to flush out his other characteristics.

Tamara: What are the hardest scenes for you to write? Suspense? Sex? Dialogue? And why?
The hardest scenes for me to write are the sex scenes. The act itself is pretty basic, but it takes a lot of work to get the scene right. And while I don’t write explicit descriptions, my goal is to always make the scenes sensual and true to the characters.

Beverly: What is your favorite scene in your favorite book?
A favorite scene is when Gareth and Clarisse (in Fallen Knight) make a connection in the castle garden. While they understand each other, they don’t realize that they’re in love.
Tamara: What is your dream vacation?
Man! My ultimate dream vacation is going to Tahiti and staying in one of those water hotels.
Beverly: What is the kinkiest thing you’ve ever done? Or would like to? What? We are all about the love! Fine! If you don’t like that question what was your worst date ever?
Lol ok, I’ll tell you about my worst date. I was invited to a boring house party by a guy. This was our first date and I didn’t know anyone at the party. When he dropped me off at home, I couldn’t get out of his car fast enough.
Tamara: What are your favorite types of heroines? Do you like the damsel in distress who needs saving or the kick-ass variety? Why?
I like the damsel in distress variety just because this type of heroine is common in medieval romance. Unfortunately it would’ve been very rare for a woman of that time period to display kick-ass qualities.
Beverly: How many books have you published? What genres? What drew you to that genre?
So far I have 5 titles published in the medieval romance genre. Since I discovered historical romances in high school, I’m drawn to the danger and excitement of this era.
Tamara: If you could spend the day with any person from history, real or fictional. Who would you choose and why?
William Marshal. He was touted as history’s greatest knight. He had a rough start to life but managed to rise above it all. I think if I got a chance to observe him for an entire day, I’ll get first hand understanding of what makes a great warrior.

Beverly: What is your “guilty pleasure”?
Definitely food. I indulge in food porn quite a bit lol
My goal is to become a prolific writer. So far I’m still trying to figure out that secret.
Beverly: What was your most embarrassing moment or the craziest thing you’ve done? C’mon dish!
I went skydiving the day after I got married.

Tamara: What song are you?
“Am I Wrong” by Nico and Vincz

Beverly: How do you know you’re in love? Is it a physical reaction, an emotional reaction or both?

I’d have to say both physical and emotional. I think you have to connect on both levels to know that you’re in love.

Tamara and Beverly: Okay. We are SSLY so I have to ask. Who loves you?
My family and friends of course 🙂

Now for some quick fun questions:

Tall, dark and handsome or Blond and buff? Tall, dark and handsome

Usually, I try for funny. Humor is a major part of my life – I love to laugh, and it seems to be the thing I do in most situations – regardless of the situation, but jokes are a tricky deal… I don’t want to offend anyone and jokes tend to offend. So instead I’m going to tell you about Kindle.
I tragically lost my sixteen year old daughter to a drunk driver. She had just been at home, it was early in the night and I heard the accident happen. I’ll never forget that moment. The sirens were immediate and something inside me just knew. I left my house, drove straight to the accident on nothing more than instinct. I got to be there when my little girl died – weirdly, I consider that a true gift from above. She didn’t have to be alone.
That time in my life was terrible. It’s everything you think it would be times about a billion. I love that kid. I loved being her mother and I loved watching her grow into this incredibly beautiful person, both inside and out. She was such a gift to me. To have it all ripped away so suddenly broke me.
Her name was Kindle. Honest to goodness – it was her name and she died a few weeks before Amazon released their brand new Kindle ereader. She had no idea it was coming out and she would have finally gotten her name on something! Try finding a ruler with the name Kindle on it.. It never happened.
Through the course of that crippling event I was lucky enough to begin to write with a dear friend in the fan fiction world of Facebook. She got me through those dark days with her unwavering support and friendship. There wasn’t a time she wasn’t there for me. Sometimes together and sometimes by myself, we built a world where Kindle lives and stands for peace, love and harmony. It’s its own kind of support group. I know without question I wouldn’t be here today without her.
