Interview with Anne

I walk into the homelike shop and am floored. Anne’s place is exquisite. Just as I walk in, a bubbly woman approaches me.

Anne: (I watch as the older woman extends her hand out to me). Hello, dear. I’m Anne.

Me: Hello. Thank you so much for allowing me to speak with you today.

Anne: (As she leads me away from the front door she talks). Oh, it’s my pleasure dear. Let’s go back to my table and sit, shall we? (I walk with her and inspect the amazing décor and handmade items of this precious shop)

Anne: Would you like a drink before we start? I have tea, if you would like some?

Me: Yes, that would be lovely, thank you. (I wait a few moments as she returns to the gorgeous handcrafted table with two teacups and sits opposite of me. I take a sip and enjoy the lemon tea she graciously has offered me).

Me: Thanks for the tea. Shall we begin? (I watch as she nods her head in agreement)
Me: You are an inspiration, did you know that? (I watch her baffled by my statement)

Anne: Me, an inspiration? I’ve never thought of myself as one… I just lead my life with positivity and kindness.

Me: (I watch her stir her spoon in her tea. She seems shocked still by my statement. She’s so sweet). Yes, you are, but you are also an inspiration to more people than you realize.

Anne: (She smiles) Well, that’s nice if I can inspire someone else…then I have lived a good life.

Me: Where do you get all your positivity?

Anne: (I watch as she smiles and glances away from me) I grew up with strong morals and values. My late husband, too lived a kind life… and well, he completed me.

Me: It must be hard without him now.

Anne: (She nods at me). My husband was an incredible man. Just incredible.

Me: Speaking of incredible men, what do you have to say about your Giovanni?

Anne: (Her eyes no longer are filled with pain, but now shine with happiness). Oh my Gio—he’s a wonderful man. You would love him. All the ladies love him, but he doesn’t date anymore.

Me: Is that so?

Anne: (Looks at me funny) Yes, he’s met a new girl, Gracelynn I believe… but he’s cautious that one. I wish he would live again and remember life is too short to live in the past.

Me: (I glance at my watch and realize I’m running late for my next appointment). Anne, it was so nice to meet you today. I am sorry, but I must go. I am running late for another appointment. Can I ask one more question before I leave? (She nods in agreement again, smiling)

Me: What would you like to tell the readers?

Anne: That’s simple: Believe. Believe all things happen for a reason. You never know what could be waiting for you.

Me: I smile and am happy to have met this wonderful woman. She’s definitely a positive and kind woman. I shake her hand, thank her and leave her wonderful shop. I smile to myself as I walk to my next appointment happy to have met the wonderful Anne from Granted Wishes.

Chapter 1
The dark, somber sky matches Gracelynn Calhoun’s disposition. Her heart beats rapidly in her chest as she grips the steering wheel of her Hyundai Accent. From her windshield, she notices the barren trees that once held her favorite fall foliage. Looking at them makes her feel just as empty as the trees in the Layton Hills Cemetery. She releases her right hand from the steering wheel, and clutches her angel necklace as tears pour down her cheeks. She closes her eyes, continuing to hold the necklace, remembering the day her beloved gave it to her. She lets go of her necklace, opens her green-grey eyes and wipes her cheeks.
While walking to her beloved’s tomb, leaves crinkle under her favorite pair of black, high-heeled shoes. As she reaches the stone, tears trickle down her face and she drops to her knees. She immediately starts cleaning around his grave, removing all debris.
She stares at the gravestone, and drags her fingers over the intricately carved angel wings. She reads aloud, even though she doesn’t need to. “Angelo Grant Calhoun. 11/28/1980 – 11/30/2012. “I am my beloved’s and my beloved is mine.” More tears stream down her face. She reaches up and touches the top of the stone, resting her hand in the middle of the stone, like she’d be touching Angelo’s heart. “I miss you so much, Angelo. How can I move on with my life…move on without you?” she cries to the gravestone. “I love you so much. I wore your favorite dress and shoes, hoping that you’d see me today. How crazy is that?” She laughs through tears, wipes her cheeks with her hand and grabs her necklace. “I still remember the day you gave me this,” she expresses to the gravestone. “How can I move on when you were my whole life? I’ll love you forever and always.” The wind picks up suddenly and all the leaves that she had just cleaned up go flying around her. She looks around now, with the leaves in her hair, and hears disembodied laughing. She tries to pick the leaves out of her hair, now full of dead foliage. She looks around the stones, but spots no one else. “I’m losing it. No one is here, Gracelynn. Get a grip,” she tells herself as she stands back up, and continues to clean herself off.
She bends down to wipe her beloved’s stone again, and her phone rings. Startled, she falls down and lands on her butt. “Good grief,” she shrieks. Her phone rings again, and she opens her small purse to take out the phone. It’s Ben calling. She stands up and looks around, hoping there isn’t anyone around who witnessed the entire ordeal. “Hello, Ben. What can I do for you?” she asks as she brushes the back of her behind, wondering what he wants.
“Hello, Gracie,” he purrs into the phone. Oh boy. This must be a doozy for him to talk like this on the phone. “Cassie and I have some things we’d like to go over with you. When are you coming in?” This time around, he sounds monotone, neutral. She glances at her watch, and realizes she’s late for work. “Oh man, Ben, I’m sorry I’m late. I didn’t realize the time. I’m at the cemetery and I’ll be there as soon as I can,” she tells him while wiping her right hand down her dress in a nervous gesture.
“Oh, Gracelynn. I’m such an ass,” Ben says through the phone. “I forgot you were going there this morning. Take all the time you need and I’ll see you in say, a half hour?” he asks her and hangs up, leaving Gracelynn more confused than before.

From Me to You Friday ~ Beverly

I’ve been busy lately!

Taking classes through one of my publishers. I’ve managed to find three that are just fantastic! Boroughs Publishing Group, Secret Cravings Publishing, and Ardent Books.

LMFWriting, trying to get two new dragon shifter tales out this year – one even will be in paperback! Stealing Hope A Dragon’s Fate Hear has been accepted and edits are coming up shortly! I’ve told my other publisher I’m working on A Dragon’s Treasure and he wants to see it so I have to quit putzing around. I’m also waiting on a submission for a new military story I submitted-I hate waiting!

Love Me Forever

waiting… waiting… waiting… still waiting…

Have I mentioned I’m impatient?

Getting ready for my first grandchild (I can finally wear my Porno Granny pin!) that is due this summer.

Reading, reading, reading! OMG I’ve discovered kindleunlimited and am having a ball! I signed up for the 30 day trial, missed the deadline to cancel it, finally cancelled it and am regretting it, LOL. I read so many good stories there. I know I’ll break down and sign up again. I was drowning in Bear Shifter and Werewolf stories and loving it!

If you are interested in what I’m up to, I’ve started a new blog for my paranormal dragon shifter series, feel free to stop by and say hi! at I’m going to be busy doing taxes and reorganizing my blogs and website. And writing, of course. I’ve started a pinterest board for my newest series. I love dragons, LOL. Take a look. That is only one of my boards 🙂

Busy as a beaver!

Hope you all are as happy as I am and keeping warm!  We had a huge change in weather here, a 30 degree shift. It went from -20 degrees to 10 degrees! I’m still cold, the high for the past two weeks has been 25 degrees. I’m not a polar bear but maybe I should be writing about them! The weather should be enough of an inspiration.

Stay warm!

What do Pirates, Princes and Propaganda have in common? A guest post by M S Spencer

What do pirates, princes, Puritans, and propaganda have in common? Lacey Delahaye, forager and jelly maker, finds out in this romantic suspense set in the western Caribbean.

Paraiso, the island in Whirlwind Romance, is based on a real island in the western Caribbean that I discovered—how else?—mucking around on the internet. Called Providencia, it forms an archipelago with two other islands, San Andres and Santa Catalina, and five uninhabited atolls. Currently under the Colombian flag, it has been the ruled by an incredible variety of groups, from Henry Morgan the notorious buccaneer, to Spanish Conquistadors, Dutch traders, even English Puritans. Now part of the UN’s Seaflower Biosphere, it sports the third largest coral reef in the world. To reach it isn’t easy, which is why it’s not well known in tourist circles.
Its rich and odd history made it an intriguing backdrop for my story, but please be aware that most of the cultural and geographic description of Paraiso in Whirlwind Romance, not to mention the characters, is purely fictional.

In the aftermath of a hurricane, Lacey Delahaye finds herself marooned on an island off the Florida coast with a mysterious man. Before he can confess his identity, they are kidnapped and taken to a tiny island in the western Caribbean. In a story laced with adventure and romance, Lacey encounters pirates, power-mad ideologues, and palace intrigue, not to mention the advances of three men, only one of whom she loves.

Excerpt (R) : First Mating
She looked at the water and then up at the sky, now pitch black. Heavy rain clouds obscured the stars. I sure as hell don’t want my last pair of shorts to get wet with no way to dry them. She shimmied off her shorts and pulled her tee shirt over her head and tossed them under the kayak. As if on cue, the moon broke through and bounced off the water, illuminating both the yard and Lacey’s body, clad only in panties. She heard a gasp, and hastily sank under the water. Poor guy, I shouldn’t have subjected him to a nearly forty-year-old physique. She held out her arms. “Sorry about exposing myself, but we’ve no electricity and I don’t want my one clean shirt to get soaked. Now come on. I’ll hold you.”
He raised his eyes from her breasts and nodded. With the moonlight full upon him, she saw that he sported a rough, dark beard and shaggy hair. Homeless? Or grooming for a movie role? He was younger than she’d thought at first. His dark eyes glittered in the pale light.
“If you’re ready…” He slid down the ramp into her waiting arms. She bent down and pulled the torn jeans off, then unbuttoned the remnants of his shirt. He clung to her, his body trembling. She tried to ignore the stench rising from him, but as she worked, somewhere down below her bellybutton parts of her kindled and something that wasn’t bay water oozed out of her. It had been five years after all—five, long, desolate years since she’d been with a man. She’d accepted the possibility that she might never have sex again. Haven’t thought about it in weeks. Now the steady throbbing of a hard penis on her thigh unexpectedly liberated buried desire and she butted against him.
He fell over in the water and came up spluttering. “What did you do that for?”
Good question. Hand to mouth, Lacey backed away. Her foot landed on a crab, which did not take kindly to the assault and chomped down hard on her instep. Yowling, she lunged forward, landing in the stranger’s arms again. This time he took advantage and crushed her to him. One hand pulled down her panties. She didn’t argue, but spread her thighs so his cock could slide into her vagina. The water and mud made entering her all the easier, and they clung to each other, swaying back and forth. He must have found a purchase on the ramp for his thrusts grew stronger. Lacey reveled in the power of the man. She loved that he took control, that she could simply acquiesce and enjoy. The orgasm floated up from the depths and roared out of her mouth. “I’m coming! I’m coming!” He redoubled his pistoning and as she began to shudder, he gave one last shove and sighed. She felt warm liquid mix with the cold bay water in her vagina. The man didn’t speak, but, keeping his penis inside her, bent to kiss her lips.
Lacey let the water ripple around her, washing off the mud and the smell. After a minute, the man released her and ducked under the water. He came up shaking his head. A passing cloud veiled the moon and all she could make out were two brilliant eyes, streaks of starlight flashing in them. He whispered, “I’m so sorry.”
The words smacked into her like her father’s belt did that day he caught her smoking in the alley. Oh. My. God. What have I done? How wanton could I be? And how stupid? This guy could be a rapist, an escaped convict—or worse, married! Here she was, acting like some Hollywood harlot screwing in an airplane lavatory. Yeah, it felt wonderful. But…oh, dear. What to say? “Never mind?” How about, “I do this with all shipwrecked sailors?” “Do it to me one more time?” Instead, she slogged up the bank and turned. “You coming?”

In Darkest Peru ~ Louise Lyons

Shy and geeky Rhys White, has recently been ditched by his boyfriend of five years. On top of that he’s been made redundant from his job as a computer programmer.

Tired of being boring and unadventurous, he throws caution to the winds and buys a plane ticket to Peru.

Rhys’ adventure in Peru starts out well, but then disaster strikes. All of his belongings are stolen. Everything is gone—passport, wallet, phone, clothing, the lot.

Stranded in Cuzco, not too far from the famous Machu Picchu, Rhys tries to find someone to help him. He’s about to give up, when a sexy Brazilian named Rafael, comes to his rescue…

Rhys was tempted to join Rafael in the shower, but he couldn’t make himself move from the bed, as weak as he was from his orgasm. He lay still, catching his breath, with a happy smile on his face. Who would have thought the initial disaster his trip had been would turn out like this?

Rafael emerged from the bathroom a few minutes later, his dark skin glistening with droplets of water which he hadn’t bothered to dry off. Rhys stared unashamedly as a tiny rivulet formed in the middle of Rafael’s chest and traveled quickly down his torso, eventually disappearing into his bush of black pubic hair. Rhys unconsciously licked his lips and Rafael laughed.

“You look like you want me for breakfast.”

“I want a photograph of you,” Rhys blurted. “If that’s okay.”

“So you can remember me? Sure. You want it like this?” Rafael winked and stood still in the middle of the room.

“Hmm…yeah.” Rhys rolled to the side of the bed and picked up Rafael’s phone from the top of the cabinet. He opened the camera function and took three shots of Rafael; one close up of his face and two of his whole body, wet and sexy and beautiful. Rafael dried his hands and took the phone from Rhys.

“My turn.”

“Oh, no, Rafael, I’m not very photogenic,” Rhys protested. He felt his face flush.

“Not very…?” Rafael’s brow wrinkled into a puzzled frown. “You are very hot. I want a picture to remember. You have three.”

“Okay, then. If you insist.” Rhys fiddled with his hair, hoping it wasn’t too messy from sleeping and fucking. Then he arranged himself on one side, his head propped up on his hand. “Go on, then, I’m ready.”

Rafael took a single picture and Rhys reminded himself to email the photos of the Brazilian to himself later. Then he took his turn in the shower while Rafael got dressed.

About the author

louise-lyons-social-logoLouise Lyons comes from a family of writers. Her mother has a number of poems published in poetry anthologies, her aunt wrote poems for the Church, and her grandmother sparked her inspiration with tales of fantasy. Louise first ventured into writing short stories at the grand old age of eight, mostly about little girls and ponies. She branched into romance in her teens, and MM romance a few years later, but none of her work saw the light of day until she discovered Fan Fiction in her late twenties.

Posting stories based on some of her favorite movies, provoked a surprisingly positive response from readers. This gave Louise the confidence to submit some of her work to publishers, and made her take her writing “hobby” more seriously.

Louise lives in the UK, about an hour north of London, with a mad Dobermann, and a collection of tropical fish and tarantulas. She works in the insurance industry by day, and spends every spare minute writing. She is a keen horse-rider, and loves to run long distance. Some of her best writing inspiration comes to her, when her feet are pounding the open road. She often races into the house afterward, and grabs pen and paper to make notes.

Louise has always been a bit of a tomboy, and one of her other great loves is cars and motorcycles. Her car and bike are her pride and joy, and she loves to exhibit the car at shows, and take off for long days out on the bike, with no one for company but herself.

Teaser ~ Triple D Dude Ranch

Triple D Dude Ranch

Dan saw the rooster tail of orange dust stop with a giant puff. He frowned. It just ended and near the driveway entrance if he was not mistaken. Curious, he nudged his horse toward the drive. This must be the photographer his buddy at the Tribune had sent. Mike and he had gone to college together at A&M. Mike majored in journalism and was living his dream in Chicago. Mike laughed and said he had the perfect photographer to take pictures for the spread. Seeing the photographer, Dan should have known Mike was up to something.

She was in a white bandana halter from what he could see. Tied at her nape and waist, he could see her smooth toned back. Her hair was tied up in a pink bandana and Dan wondered how long it was. Her short denim cut off skirt gave just a peek at toned, heart shaped butt cheeks. His gaze traveled lower and he had to stifle a laugh. She had on four-inch spiked cowboy boots. Pink, no less.

Blaire is a freelance photographer on assignment. She is heading home to Texas, armed with her camera to do a photo feature for the Tribune. Taking photos of the dude ranch, she gets an eyeful of an uninhibited cowboy through her lens. The summer heat of Texas has nothing on the heat he generates in her.

Dan was expecting a photographer but not the sexy urban cowgirl that arrived. He knew it was hot out, he just hadn’t expected the hot and sexy woman to make him burn the minute he caught sight of her. One look and he had to quench this fire inside.

One touch between Dan and Blaire sparks a wildfire that burns hotter than the Texas summer and is just as hard to put out.

One look ignites a smolder between Dan and Blaire, one touch sparks a wildfire that burns out of control, hotter than the Texas sun.

Downey GreeneAbout the Author-

WE…yes you read right. We are two separate individuals who met in a writing group on FB. In this group we dabbled in writing and hit it off, each liking the other’s strengths and complimenting the other’s weaknesses. When the opportunity presented to Downey to submit to a publisher she approached Greene to join her in the journey. Both with hectic lives they took turns writing, swapping ideas and chapters, thus creating their first book, Partners in Crime. Here is a little something about the Dynamic Duo.

Downey: Otherwise known as Maureen lives in Drexel Hill, Pennsylvania. She is your typical suburban soccer mom; well ok there is nothing typical about her AND her kids play EVERYTHING but soccer. Downey as she is known in this duo has 5 kids ranging from 12 ½ to 19. And to answer the question swirling in your minds…YES, she is crazy. She has been married for over 21 years to her best friend and love of her life. She LOVES to read, her appetite is voracious for all things books. Her job at a local bookstore was by far one of the best experiences and fed her addiction to the written word. Going to book signings and having them at the store were her rock star moments; she is a total fan girl for authors. When that job disappeared she felt bereft, with much floundering she stumbled upon the underbelly of FB and fell in love with writing. Creating stories and weaving tall tales helped ease the indecision that plagued her. The feedback and support for her writing blew her away and prompted her to open Word and create. Loving how Greene weaved a story Downey decided they should become the Dynamic Duo. With the support of her family she has embarked on a totally unexpected new path. When she is not carting kids all over she is managing her kingdom… between all that she reads, blogs(BCWAB) and submerges herself in her make believe world and writes. Some days she feels invincible, other days…well they should hide. Never in a million years did she ever think THIS was a possibility, as they say when one door closes another opens. In her case, truer words were never spoken.

Drayden Warner is a man used to living the good life, bedding every beauty in sight, masking an empty existence, and hiding from a tragedy which happened years ago.  Little does he know, his life will change forever when he meets the one woman who will possibly destroy him for good.

An Interview with  S. Nelson by Hot Tree Promotions

1.  Tell us a bit about yourself. – I come from a large family.  I have five sisters and two brothers. Thankfully, we are still very close and get together quite often, still celebrating our birthdays.  I’ve always loved to read although I got away from it for about a decade.  Picking up a book about three years ago only rekindled my passion for the written word and now I make sure to read every single day no matter what.

2.  What inspired you to write your first book? – To be completely honest, I was reading a story which really didn’t captivate me the way I thought it would.  Even at that time I knew it took a lot to write a book so I wanted to give it a fair shot but after about four or five chapters I had to put it down.  It was then that a life changing thought slammed into my brain.  I thought, “I could write something better.” I don’t mean for that to be an arrogant statement but I think there are plenty of authors out there who were simply not getting what they wanted or needed from certain books.  And what better way to get what you want than to write it yourself?  ☺

3.  How did you come up with the title Stolen Fate? – I knew the word Stolen was going to be in the title but it took me a while to figure out the rest of it.  Stolen Fate is perfect because it is essentially what the two characters did to one another; they stole each other’s fate by intervening in the most unusual way.

4.  Describe your main character in five words. – Passionate, Sexy, Domineering, Cocky, Protective.

5.  What was one of the most surprising things you learned in creating your book? – The most surprising thing I learned is that my characters will sometimes tell me the story and not the other way around.  I was writing a particular scene and I thought it was going to go one way but the characters had a different plan, so it went in the opposite direction.  I don’t fight it.  I just go with it. ☺

6.  How long does it take you to write a book? – So far, it takes me anywhere between 2 to 2 ½ months to write the full, initial, rough draft.

7.  What is your work schedule like when you’re writing? – Since I still have a full time job which takes up the majority of my day, I write as much as I can during the week when I get home.  Then I will spend the majority of my weekends doing nothing but writing whatever story is rattling around inside my head.

8.  Do you have any writing rituals? – Not at this time.  I sit down at my computer and whatever happens….just happens.  I stopped questioning the whole process because even I don’t understand it sometimes. ☺

9.  What book are you reading now? – I am reading Indebted 3 by Pepper Winters.  So good!!

10.  Do you have anything specific that you want to say to your readers? – I want to tell all of my readers that I’m so appreciative they took a chance on a brand new author.  I love hearing from people that my story was one they just couldn’t put down.  Or the fact that before they picked up Stolen Fate, they didn’t read much at all, and that I inspired them to start reading again.  It’s an amazing feeling knowing my words have touched or inspired another person.

Random Questions
What’s in your fridge right now?  Leftovers from an Italian restaurant, ice tea and the makings for pizza.
Other than writing, what special or unusual talent(s) do you have? – None that I know of.  It took me almost 40 years to realize my talent was writing.  Maybe before my 80th birthday I’ll discover another one. ☺
Where did you last go on holiday? –The last place I went on a real holiday was England and Ireland.  I had such a fantastic time.
If your house was attacked by feral aliens, and they were zapping your house with their Über super bombs, what five items would you save? – First of all, I LOVE this question.  The five items I would grab would be my photo albums, favourite pair of jeans, laptop, cell phone and my purse.
