This is a very special thing for us. Tamara and I went to high school together. Sure I’ll shout out! Lake Park High School in Roselle, IL. Go Lancers! Now don’t hold it against us that we grew up flatlanders! LOL! (interesting tidbit-LPHS has 2,834 students in grades 9-12, rated 9 out of 10 on the great schools rating and not one child is eligible for free or reduced lunch! The school ratio is 19 students for every 1 teacher)
We used to sign off on all of our note passing SSLY–Smile Somebody Loves You. By the way, that was well before cell phones! Heck even before pagers! When I went in the US Navy the mail Tammie sent me ended that way too. And all those Christmas cards when that was the only time we connected as we got older? You got it! SSLY.
And OMG! When we discovered Facebook! SSLY for sure! Even better than passing notes in high school!
Well we started chatting up a storm. And then we decided that it had been waaaay too long since we had seen each other and we met in WI, dragging our poor DH’s, to go to Barbara Vey’s Reader Appreciation luncheon.
Then Tammie badgered 🙂 me into entering a publishing contest by Boroughs Publishing Group to start up a new line, Lunchbox Romance. After much mulling over, I submitted a story. So did Tammie. So sad, neither of us won, The Vampire and the Shopgirl did. Now during all this our nightly chats ended with SSLY. (I’m not sure we’ve ever truly grown up!)

However to our excitement we both ended up with contracts for our stories! woo hoo! See we both published a Lunchbox Romance! Really for .99 cents how can you pass them up (Shameless plug!)

Well, getting our books out into the public eye was a necessity so Tammie dreamed up doing a blog. We discussed it, mulled it over, punched it into shape and Tammie said “We should call it ‘Smile Somebody Loves You’!”. As we are romance lovers it was absolutely friggin’ perfect! Of course I swear it was always like 2 or 3 in the morning! (I might be exaggerating the time-but there were days…)
But, after all how much can we say about our debut books? We decided even before it went live that we would feature other authors. Holy Moly! Did we hit a niche or what! We’ve featured wonderful authors, wonderful books and step out a little of the romance genre once in a while-but not much.
But we believe in going big or go home! (You wouldn’t know we were both from Chicago would you?) A blog wasn’t enough! Oh no, we discovered we could do a Facebook page! And a twitter @SSLYblog page! We were even able to get the same name for an email! Hmmm…maybe we should get a Pinterest page…

Thank goodness that we can link the pages! Add that to updating author Facebook pages and you’d think we would never have time to write! Wrong! Tamara has a second book out, Roping Love. If you haven’t read it you really should!
I have two more waiting in the wings with publishers, hoping they are accepted. See Books by Beverly tab to read the synopsis.
But recently we thought we needed more work! We needed reviews. Okay, Tamara dragged me kicking and screaming to agreeing to doing reviews! Well not really but I did object! lol-not a big fan of change, here! But we don’t want to do them ourselves. We’ll do the occasional on Amazon and Goodreads but a constant, on a blog? No way. We are recruiting reviewers and hopefully we’ll have that page up and running soon. We figure in another month we’ll be a go. So check for reviews around July. The tab is there so it WILL happen!
We’ll introduce our reviewers and what type of books they’ll review. Right now we have a couple of authors letting us ‘borrow’ their books for reviews to get an idea of the style of reviewers that were interested. In addition, Janet will drop in reviews from her site, Sugar and Spice on the blog also.
Hope you enjoy this newest evolution of Smile Somebody Loves You!
And for being such wonderful followers, (Tamara wasn’t the only one who got a ton of SWAG from RAGT!) I’m doing a giveaway too! When I mentioned I wanted to get some for our blog for a giveaway, the authors were more than generous!
Is it really obvious that this year we met in Ohio? 😀
