Beauty’s Curse is a fairytale that spans centuries of bondage, shown through the intertwined lives of four people. Esmeralda, Victor, Nicholas and Adelaide are living under a curse, some of their own making, some by the cruelty of others, and a curse once cast cannot be broken. For years they have toiled under their prospective curses, each in their own way, trying to live with the burdens and troubles. Cursed!

Cursed when she fell in love, her sorcerer master killed to make and keep her his apprentice. Adelaide lived for revenge and a desire to be loved.
Cursed when love was not enough and beauty was desired above all else. Esmeralda would pay any price.
Cursed when love was his world and he would do anything to make Esmeralda happy. Victor would pay the price with his heart.
Cursed for wanting freedom and truth, Nicholas was condemned for not loving Adelaide for raising him.

Desire and greed spin an ugly tale in their intertwined lives. Adelaide requires a price that even she will not know the consequences of. Cursed herself, she regrets cursing Nicholas, but once done, a curse cannot be undone. Adding a caveat, so that someday it will be broken, Adelaide goes back to her life as Nicholas spurns the woman that raises him.

Esmeralda wanted beauty. Giving up her child was a small price she thought. Not to Victor. He would rather give up their beauty than lose their son. Esmeralda doesn’t agree. Since she had made the deal with the witch, he was forced to live with her decision. But as the years went on and he yearned for his child, his love for her died.

The twists and turns in this story kept me reading. A dark tale, it is in its own way entertaining. Love can hurt and it can hope and it can overcome. Hope seems to instinctively know this. Who is she? The key to ending the curse-all of them.
