From Me to You ~ Beverly ~ Are you just a teensy bit superstitious?

Do you have numbers that are special to you? The 11th is to me. To my family, well, maybe it’s just my perception that it’s special to all of us!

Happy Birthday1My mom was born on the 11th.

I was born on the 11th.

My husband was born on the 11th.

We were married on the 11th. πŸ™‚ Okay, that was a choice so we wouldn’t forget it!

My niece is born on the 11th.

My nephew is born on the 11th.

My sister in law was born on the 11th.

All different months!

Except me and my mom. I was the BEST BIRTHDAY GIFT EVER!

She shakes her head and always says, yeah, right. I’m sure she’s not being sarcastic!

When I have something special going on, it always seems to revolve around the 11th. Or maybe the 11th just seems to make it more special to me.

Even the address where I work ends in 11.

GhostI’m not really superstitious, but I can’t stand in front of a mirror in a dark room and do that chant about Medusa. Makes my hair stand on end. I do believe in ghosts. I’ve too many reasons to say that’s all garbage. They are among us and some of them are just evil. I lived in a house where I spent my time in a closet. lol. NO it was not abuse. It was the only place I felt safe when no one else was home. Sad to say, I wasn’t even a little kid. I was in high school. Heck, when I went home on leave in the Navy, I ended up back in the closet. *shakes head* I really shouldn’t be admitting this should I? Truly, I’m totally well adjusted!

I celebrated when my parents told me they sold that house and it was torn down!

Well, maybe I am superstitious, kind of.

I have one more thing coming up on the 11th. I’m hoping that the 11th stays good for me. Recently I have been diagnosed with a tumor on my pituitary gland. I am having surgery on the June 11th. It will be okay. I guess tumors on pituitary glands are common, but mine is growing. It seems kind of unreal, like werewolves and vampires. It has started to affect my optic nerves. Wild, right? It has to go!pituitary

It was kind of crazy how I found out about it.

I had what felt like a lump inside my throat. So I went to my doctor. He did the regular rigmarole that he does and then he checked my neck. All of my glands were swollen. He was concerned as most of the women in my family that have passed away have died from cancer, on both sides of my family tree. Not a good prognosis. So he set me up with more blood work (I think doctors are vampires!) again. Sent me to a CAT scan and scheduled me with an ENT (ears, nose, throat) specialist.

The ENT, he was a hoot by the way. Ran a camera through my-never mind you don’t really want to know! lol. Somehow, the results of the CAT scan didn’t make it to him so he diagnosed me with a really nasty case of acid reflux. (I had other symptoms involving my sinuses) Who know acid reflux could affect your sinuses? He sent me home to pick up some really nasty yellow horse pills I have to take. Then he made sure he got the results of my CAT scan. He called me and told me to immediately call my family doctor and schedule an MRI.

Umm, let me just say I am claustrophobic. It wasn’t pretty. Drugs are my friend and they loaded me up. My daughter dropped me off on her way to work. My husband had the times of the MRI mixed up and ended up having to stay at work. I called a friend to pick me up who buzzed over to get me. I was so relaxed that my friend was laughing at me because I was bouncing off of the cars in my driveway to make it in to my house.

So, for three weeks I cannot read. I cannot write. I cannot watch TV. I cannot play on the computer. I will be gone from the internet for that time and off of the blog. I cannot do anything that will tax my brain. Why? Because no matter how common this is, I am still having brain surgery. I’m a bit scared and a bit worried, but I know it will be alright. On the plus side, my vision should get better, no more blurry eyes-well, no more than normal as I’m near sighted! The best part? It may relieve my migraines! Who hasn’t said they’d be willing to have their head drilled to relieve the pain? As one of the guys at work said, Be careful what you wish for!

I haven’t really said anything other to my family and close friends. I don’t really want to talk about it. But I’ll be gone, disappeared for a while from cyber space. I’d appreciate any prayers and well wishes sent my way! Especially on June 11 this year.

Prayers. Another belief of mine and many people around the world. Hmmm.

I wonder about many things. I see the full moon and I wonder, are werewolves real? Are there really vampires in the world? I know ghosts walk among us. What else is real?

Tell me, when the moon is full and the sky has clouds even in the dark of night, when the fog swallows you as you drive along, when sound is muffled and you can’t hear a thing, what do you imagine is out there?
