From Me to You Friday- Tamara – Baseball Season is Here! Cheers or Jeers?

baseball  I have to tell you I’ve never been a sports fan. I have three children. Obviously, I couldn’t have grandchildren if I didn’t have at least one. LOL. But my son’s only sport was 5K running and that was easy on us. Drop him off at the starting line and wait for him at the finish line. Done deal.

The closest my youngest daughter came to sports was choir. ( Well it is an extra-curricular activity, right?) My oldest daughter, the grandson’s mom did 4H. We got a calf for her to show in the county fair. It was supposed to be a heifer, but we got it at 1 day old from the dairy and Bessy turned out to be Bob, but that’s a story for another day.

So, my first experience with Little League has come with my oldest grandson, Tristan. He is a whopping 5 years old and very in touch with his feminine side. Okay, so he’s a drama queen. He loves the idea of playing baseball (and soccer and hockey and football) but when it comes down to actually doing it… Well, he’d rather build sandcastles in the outfield and chase butterflies.

I’m very glad that I didn’t have to deal with baseball. Man, what a commitment! Practice three times a week. Forty-seven games in a season. I swear everyday the kid is doing something baseball! His first game was last Saturday and of course we all had to turn out to cheer him on.

Aunt Moe came with Kylan, Canyon and Z-baby. MawMaw (yes we are in Tennessee) was supposed to come, but didn’t make it, so score one for our side of the family!  None of the little ones would sit and watch the game, because yeah, there’s a playground in sight, so lucky for us, Aunt Moe braved taking the lot of them to play on the playground so Mandy and I could watch the mayhem. We got creamed!

While a few of our players actually managed to hit the ball, they weren’t the best. The other team was amazing! I couldn’t believe these kids were five! My poor little Tristan is definitely NOT a hitter. It’s hard to hit the ball when you’re looking at the ground. LOL. Oh well, we’ll get ’em next time!

So, when Baseball season comes, do you cheer or Jeer? Personally, I’m still on the fence.
