Wormholes during writing!

So I’m writing and doing odd research, lol.

I looked up why eyes on predators were yellow. Then I needed to learn how to make lamp oil from animal fat. Here is one video I found on how to make meat candles! You can use your bacon fat! I think I have to try this. I love the smell of bacon, lol.

Then here is a man showing how to make soap.

But as a warning, read his comments, lol.

Cooking with Dr. Chill

In this episode I go over how to make home made soap the old fashioned way. making soap out of wood ash and fat (tallow/lard) is kind of a fun project, but don’t expect soap you can sell on amazon. its really just something that should be used if you absolutely have to. the labor and time involved isn’t worth the result. first you need to make lye from wood ash (lye water), then you spend the rest of your life stirring it.

All I can say is that I’m going to hoard soap and detergent in the case of an apocalypse! Everyone else will be grabbing food and I’m going for the soap, lol. I can grow food, fish, and I imagine I’d be able to hunt. I’d probably rely on traps and breeding small animals. Rabbits, chickens, squirrels. The things that do well in a fenced area like my back yard. But, I don’t want to spend hours making soap unless I have to!

Of course if the end of the world gets rid of adults like in Daybreak, I won’t have to worry about it, lol!

Here is a bit easier time of making soap. She bought the lye instead of making it. Knowing how to make it from scratch is a good idea. How to make lye, and tallow. In this video she already had the ingredients.

As you can see, I still haven’t found what I intended, lol.

I’ll keep looking. Youtube is awesome for helpful videos.

Now I have. A great example of how to easily make lamp oil.

Here is one where she even makes the lantern! Definitely good for my world. You know we leave tons of trash around!

Okay, enough of going down the rabbit hole!

I’ve got to get back to my peoples! Have a great day. Hope you enjoyed the videos! Much less bloody than the ones where I learned to build a trap.
