Beverly and Tamara: Welcome to SSLY. Thanks so much for joining us today. So first why don’t you tell us a little about yourself?
Hey ladies! Thanks for having me on your blog! I’m Victoria, nothing too special. Just a 22 year old Web Development student who happened to write a romance book instead of paying attention during lectures lol. Wait, wait, that’s boring. Victoria is on my birth certificate but that’s lame. I’m actually The Epitome of Awesomeness as well as Superwoman. Yeah, that fits a little better 🙂
Tamara: What do you HAVE to have when you are writing?
I WILL NOT write ONE SINGLE WORD if I do not have my Starbucks Vanilla Frappuccino drink. I buy those things buy the cases. I call it my liquid crack lol. I have to have music because it helps me set the mood for certain scenes. I definitely have to also have my iPad because I have the attention span of a hummingbird so I get bored and/or distracted easily and may need to play some games lol.
Beverly: When did you start to write, who influenced you?
I started writing in the 8th grade to actually pass time. I found middle school to be fairly boring so to tune out my mono-toned teacher and still look like I was working, I started writing. I didn’t really have anyone who influenced me, more like a thing to encourage me, which was being bored in class.
Beverly: Wow! I can’t imagine being bored in class! 😉
Tamara: What do you think are the qualities that make up a “hero”?
Someone who’s strong, dependable, helpful, humble, inspiring and a positive role model. I call myself Superwoman because I believe that I do extraordinary things despite fighting my battle with Lupus. Heroes give people hope and that’s what I’m all about.
Beverly: Can you describe your favorite character? And which of your books is he/she in? How do you come up with your characters?
Man, this is hard because they’re all my favorite! I would have to say Camille though because she is made from my image. She is the leading female character in my debut novel Love Unbroken. She’s a sassy, sarcastic, loving, curly-haired beauty who is also a college student studying to be a computer programmer. I based my characters off of people that I know to be honest. From the playful guys to the silly girls, it’s all kind of based off of people that I come across in life.
Tamara: What are the hardest scenes for you to write? Suspense? Sex? Dialogue? And why?
Probably writing about tragedy or breakups. I tend to be an emotional person with a vivid imagination. It’s nothing for me to immediately put myself in the position of my character and everything I feel, I make them feel.
Beverly: What is your favorite scene in your favorite book?
I would probably say the cook-off between Ahmad and Camille. Ahmad is so funny (to me) when he’s around his friends. The dialogue between them all was pretty epic if I must say so myself!
Tamara: Who would you choose as your “book boyfriend/girlfriend”? From what book? Author?
You know, I never knew about having a book boyfriend into I fell into the indie community. I never got any type of connection with a male character that made me say “Oh! He’s mine!” I don’t know, it just never did anything for me.
Beverly: What is the kinkiest thing you’ve ever done? Or would like to? What? We are all about the love!
To be honest….AND DON’T TELL A SOUL…I’m actually very shy when it comes to sex. I can write about it all day, but I’m actually very shy. I don’t know if it’s because I’ve only been with one guy since I was 16 or what, but yeah lol. I wouldn’t mind reenacting the park scene in my book if I must choose one though lol.
Tamara: Hmm…it’s always the shy ones you have to look out for! lol! What are your favorite types of heroines? Do you like the damsel in distress who needs saving or the kick-ass variety? Why?
Mostly kick-ass. I am not a weak woman and I don’t want to promote a woman to be weak. I always say “Don’t rely on a man’s bacon, buy your own ham”. One day, women are going to take over the world and I want to make sure that my kick-ass female characters show that we are on the path to achieving that!
Beverly: What was your worst date ever?
I wish I had something hilariously embarrassing to put here but I don’t. Like I stated before, I was in a relationship with a guy since I was 16 and I married him at 18. Everything we did together was perfect, there was no such thing as worst dates lol. He wouldn’t allow that!
Tamara: If you were stranded on a desert island, what three things would you want to have with you? (You have food, water, shelter, all the necessities, so nothing mundane)
Wi-fi, Macbook and my iPad. I can’t survive without my electronics. Does this mean I need rehab?!
Beverly: What is your “guilty pleasure”?
Writing about sex 😛 I feel that if I tell people, they may think that I’m some kind of sex-crazed nympho but I’m really tamed! I promise!
Tamara: What dream or goals have you yet to realize?
I want to either own a cheer gym and be a Web Developer for a small company or work for Google. I have a long road ahead of me but I’m sure those will be accomplished soon enough! Having a book on the NYT best seller’s list wouldn’t be such a bad thing either.
Beverly: What was your most embarrassing moment or the craziest thing you’ve done? C’mon dish!
I would probably say the day the heel of my shoe broke in high school. I was in the 9th grade, trying to figure out where I belonged in the ridiculous social circles at school. I wore a pair of these high heel boots that were actually belonged to my mother. Because the boots were packed away for a long time, the position that they were in caused one of the heels to kinda curve inward so it was bound to eventually snap. Well, like an idiot, I wore them to school to impress a boy I liked. I didn’t see him the whole day until it was time to go to the bus parking lot. He called me over and while I was walking over, I stepped in this pot hole and the heel on the shoe broke, sending me sprawling sideways into this huge puddle. Not only did people around me laugh, so did he! How dare he?! It was the worst thing ever!
Tamara: If you were a color what would you be and why?
Tye-dye because it represents many colors. All colors represent some type of emotion, and since I express many of them, I could morph into them all. It makes me feel somewhat normal.
Tamara: Normal is over rated!
Beverly: How do you know you’re in love?
Hmm…when I feel empty when the person’s not around, always feeling nervous around the person as if you’re just starting to date, getting all girly on the phone when they call or text, only wanting to be with them or finding it hard to imagine yourself with someone else.
Tamara and Beverly: Okay. We are SSLY so we have to ask. Who loves you?
Well, I’d have to say my family, friends and fans. I am no longer in a relationship. But most importantly, I love me 🙂
Now for some quick fun questions:
Boxers or briefs? Boxers
Coffee or Tea? Coffee
Tall, dark and handsome or Blond and buff? Tall, dark and handsome
Hairy chest or smooth? Smooth! Can’t have a sweaty man beast on me. Total turn off
Chocolate or Vanilla? Vanilla
Kinky or Sweet? Sweet 🙂
Fast or slow? Both
Public or private? Ha! Private!
Beverly: REALLY? PARK SCENE-JUST SAYING! LOL!
Top or bottom? Both
