But the deception at Planet Core continues, and Brook doesn’t realize the depth of her father’s involvement until he orders her terminated. Struggling to stay alive, she quickly learns nothing is as she believed.

Will she ever find Melina? Or will Brook be stuck light years from home, alone, and with a fierce predator hunting her down?

“Let’s go, Malock.” Jager raised his eyebrows. “Or did you change your mind?”

She stood and released a deep breath. Even with her trepidation, she refused to back out now. Melina waited for her. “No, I’m looking forward to seeing Airondelle for myself.”

Brook spun away and rushed to catch up with her comrades. If she revealed her plans, she’d be stopped before she could find her lover. She would have to hide Melina right under their noses to bring her home. She pushed her shoulders back. I can do this. I have to.

The all-terrain vehicles sat loaded with equipment for the mission in front of the swirling mass of the portal. Her father certainly wasn’t wasting any time getting a team back to Airondelle. Crewmembers already filled the first vehicle, so she hopped into the back of the second.

Jager passed around everyone’s mission directives then shoved in on her left. Thank goodness he was the last to load. With his bulk, he occupied both of the remaining seats.

Before she had time to read her personal orders, they proceeded into the portal. She passed through the spinning matter, her body pulled and stretched in every direction. Unknown forces pushed on her chest, making it difficult to breathe. She gripped the seat, hoping she wouldn’t get pulled out. But the awkwardness didn’t last long. The transporter room light years away, clean, fresh air poured into her lungs. The alien vegetation of the foreign planet lined the rough dirt road they traveled. She yearned to explore the flora and fauna on a more intimate level. And she would, after setting up camp.

She opened the folder with her mission directive inside. Instead of the stack of papers detailing what Planet Core expected of her, she found a single sheet.

Her father’s handwriting scrawled across the page. You can never know the truth.

Hard, cold steel pressed against her temple. A gun. Her breath caught. What the hell is going on? She grabbed her knapsack and launched out of the vehicle.

What is The Underground?
The Underground is a group of rebels who live underground. They are former Planet Core employees who left the corporation as they do not agree with their policies on many things. Their only way out is to join The Underground. Most of the members live under the city in an abandoned subway station. (The subway is no longer used anywhere, only the above ground glides now.) Children and one of their caretakers live in the safehouses, which are farther away from the city.

Rumpling Riley ~ Virginia Nelson

Rumpling Riley
(4 flames)
GLBT, Gay, Contemporary, Erotic Romance

Riley Gold likes things neat. He appreciates order, organization. Sure, he wants to find love but he sticks to the kitchen, loving his life as a chef, where he can carefully measure, time, and control every situation.

Basil Culver grew up alone. An orphan, he got bounced from home to home and learned at a young age to keep people at a distance. Attachment meant eventual agony—when the person unfailingly abandoned him. Better to live every moment, allow for the chaos of the universe, and keep rolling.

When these opposites clash, sparks fly. Can Basil manage to rumple Riley’s carefully tucked sheets?

~Excerpt~

He looked clean, neat, and somehow dominant all at once.

He was the kind of guy, Basil guessed, who pinned a man against the wall and claimed his lips. Not kissed, claimed.

Painting a cheerful and exceptionally fake smile on his face, he turned back to the class. “So that’s it! Next week, we’ll be making my divine cheesecake. If you want to register, see the front desk. Thanks so much for taking the time to come out tonight and cook with me and remember…. Don’t put aluminum in the microwave unless your goal is a fast fireworks show and a burned-out machine. Have a good night, everyone!”

Wiping down the counter, he waited for the students to finish chatting and leave so he could clean up. Evening classes like this one tended toward groups who knew each other—friends from work, mothers and daughters, husbands with their wives. Which meant they chatted after and sometimes sampled their creations before leaving.

A woman walked up to him, showing him her cake and asking a ton of questions about substitutions. Riley focused on her, answering her questions, but part of him seemed determined to split his attention—part of it zeroed in on Mr. Tall-Dark-and-Eggshell-Friendly.

The woman finally left, winking at him as she went—ah, one of those. Her gaydar was so off. In the time he’d spoken with her, most everyone else had snagged their coats and filtered out.

Except the guy.

As the other man closed the distance, Riley prayed to whatever gods were listening that he wouldn’t babble like a teenage girl at a Bieber concert.

Author Bio:

Virginia Nelson spends her days chasing three very active kids around. When she is not doing this, or plotting taking over the world, she likes to write, play in the mud, drive far too fast and scream at inanimate objects. She can often be found listening to music that is far too loud and typing her next fantastic tale of blood, sex and random acts of ineptitude. Romance, in Ms. Nelson’s opinion, is not about riding off into the sunset on the back of a horse with the knight in shining armor— it is about riding the dragon. If the knight can keep up… well, that is love.

Saving Sam ~ Megan Slayer

MS_Saving%20Sam_MDSaving Sam
(5 flames)
GLBT, Gay, Contemporary, Erotic Romance

Give up his dream or go for exactly what he wants?

Sam Grau never planned on seeing his former best friend again. One-night stands worked well enough to ease his heartache and loneliness…except he wanted more. He’s got a choice—chase his dreams or the man he loves. He can’t have both.

Josh Thomas never gave up on finding the one man who understood him down to the cellular level. He walked away once, but not a second time. He’s willing to sacrifice his heart and pride to show his quirky friends the men they’ve both become, all in the name of saving Sam.

http://www.decadentpublishing.com/product_info.php?products_id=829&osCsid=a5m3vh680ufvss28svfqsmgs54

~Excerpt~

Josh plopped down on the bar stool and studied his old friend. The man modeled efficiency. In ten minutes’ time, he cleared the tables, soaked glasses in water, and shut neon lights off. He still embodied the free spirit Josh had been in school. The red tips brought out the hazel in Sam’s eyes, and the guyliner accentuated the planes of his angular face. He even kind of liked the piercing below Sam’s bottom lip. What would it feel like if they kissed?

Heaven, more than likely. He’d wanted to tackle his former best friend for a quickie so many times, but never had. Somehow the line “we’re better as friends,” didn’t wash now, any more than it had back then. And who was this Ziggy? He didn’t remember his friend calling his junk by a name, but what did he know? Things changed with time. Maybe now he did and maybe he’d finally gone after his calling. A couple months earlier, he’d posted on Facebook about the club he still wanted to start for the LGBT youth in the area. Had he started the club yet? God knew he could use his past to help others.

“I need to wipe the tables down, then sweep.” Sam grabbed the broom and headed for the far side of the room. The chains on his pants swung in time with his steps. In the garish light, the red in his hair stood out even more but didn’t detract from the light in his eyes. Hell, he preferred him with the unusual hair color.

He mused on their collective past. Sam had worked the thin-and-nerdy look in college, but he’d grown gaunt. Dark scruff decorated his thin cheeks and sprinkled down his neck. His shoulders slumped more, and he didn’t make eye contact as much.

Looks didn’t matter. He’d always had a crush on his friend. In school, he’d sworn he wouldn’t act on the feelings because they got along too well. They’d ruin the friendship with sex. Too bad his heart had never forgotten his former roommate.

Sam stopped running and wiped the sweat glistening on his brow. “I forgot how much work there is when Jen and Clay aren’t here.”

“Then let me do some.” Josh grabbed his hand. “Come here.”

His Just Desserts ~ Dakota Trace

His-Just-Desserts-300x400His Just Desserts

(5 flames)

GLBT, Gay Romance, Interracial Romance, Erotic Romance

Growing up in a foster home in a small Midwest town, Sean Whitcomb planned from the day he turned sixteen to somehow escape. And he does to the big city of Des Moines at a lawyer’s firm. Now up for a shot at a partnership, he needs to deliver the goods, and it’s not what he thinks. No, it’s a family style meal for the founding partners and their spouses. Which causes Sean a major issue, because not only is he a single gay man, but he can’t cook to save his life, and his boss is expecting a home cooked meal — complete with a family or there will be no partnership offer.

In desperation, Sean turns to the man he left behind in his pursuit of the golden ring, Isaiah Waterston. Not only is Isaiah hot enough to still turn Sean’s crank but he’s also a world class chef at one of the hottest eateries in town. Now all he has to do is convince the man he’d left behind to give him a single night of his time, prepare a mouth-watering meal, and pretend to be his lover for a few hours. Sounds easy right? Well it is until Isaiah attaches his own stipulation –an entire weekend with Sean at his mercy.

http://www.decadentpublishing.com/product_info.php?products_id=819&osCsid=a5m3vh680ufvss28svfqsmgs54

~Excerpt~

“Never once have I considered you my kept man. There’s nothing wrong with me wanting to take care of the man I love. I may be a lot of things, but I never once acted like I was better than you, or like I thought you were inferior to me. We were in love, and when I asked you come with me to Iowa City, you said no. You could’ve graduated a year early, but instead you wanted to stay in that Podunk town. I had to take advantage of the scholarship to U of I, so I left.”

“You could’ve stayed. It was only a year.”

“Could have, should have—it doesn’t matter now. It’s all water under the bridge. What I want to do is to offer you a substantial amount of money to come to my home, prepare a meal for myself and the partners.”

Sinking down into the chair, he rubbed the back of his neck. There has to be a catch. Old lovers just don’t show up and offer vast amounts of money, Waterson. “But?”

“But now, I have a feeling no amount would be enough to get you to pretend to be my lover for the night, and that’s what I need from you.”

A bitter laugh passed his lips at the irony. “This is just grand. I never thought I’d hear the mighty Sean Whitcomb offer to pay someone to pretend to be his lover. You’re a lover extraordinaire who could have a man any day of the week. Isn’t that what you told me before you left?” Unresolved resentment peppered his voice as his anger boiled over. He wanted to do more than punch Sean. He wanted to hurt him right where his heart lived. “So why don’t you go find one of them to do it? Better yet, see if you can’t call one of the modeling agencies and have them send over some hot guy to play the role, because the only thing that would convince me to agree is if I got to top you for a whole weekend. And it would be no-holds-barred sex. You’d be my bitch, for once—and I’d make sure you screamed with pleasure.”

“Is that what it would take, Isaiah?”

The soft tone should’ve warned him, but anger made him rash. “Yeah, it’s the only damned way…but we both know you’ll never agree to it. You never bottom, you never give up control, so this discussion is over—”

“No it’s not over. I agree to your terms,” Sean said. “One meal, a couple hours of pretend, and you get me for the whole weekend. I’m sure you’ll enjoy your pound of flesh. I’ll call tomorrow with the details.”

A click in his ear told him Sean had hung up.

Author Bio:
Dakota is a simple Midwest girl, who has found her passion in storytelling at a young age. Her father always said she made up the craziest stories.  Most remained unwritten though as writing wasn’t Dakota’s strong suit. That all changed in junior high when she took her first typing class. Problem solved for the dyslexic Dakota. There was no stopping her after that. She wrote her first novel her freshman year about a girl who could speak to animals on an old electric IBM typewriter her dad found at a garage sale. Now writing in several different genres, she is a published author with multiple books under her belt.  When she isn’t writing, she’s the crazy mom of three wild Indians who are posing as her children, a loving wife to the man of her dreams and a full time Web Design Major at IADT.

Interview – Evelise Archer

Beverly and Tamara: Welcome to SSLY. Thanks so much for joining us today. So first why don’t you tell us a little about yourself.

I live in central Pennsylvania with my husband, two dogs and a rabbit. All my children are grown with my youngest still in college.

Tamara: What do you HAVE to have when you are writing?

Lots of coffee and my music.

Beverly: When did you start to write?

I started seriously writing about a year and a half ago when my daughter left for college.

Tamara: What do you think are the qualities that make up a “hero”?

I love a smart hero, someone who has brains as well as brawn. A confident man who stands up for the underdog.
Beverly: Can you describe your favorite character? And which of your books is he/she in? How do you come up with your characters?

My favorite character is Eldridge from my upcoming January release, Eldridge’s Submission. It’s a BDSM story that focuses on friendship and trust. I tend to let my mind wander and daydream and then images of people just pop into my head. The next thing I know I’m writing notes on a particular person. I put it on the back burner until the story comes to me, and then I let loose.

Tamara: What are the hardest scenes for you to write? Suspense? Sex? Dialogue? And why?

I have a hard time writing a lot of dialogue. I always want to describe instead of allowing for the characters to speak. I’m working on this 

Beverly: What writer, if any, influenced how you write?

I’m not sure if any one writer has influenced how I write as my taste is wide. My favorite all time author is Leon Uris, historical books, but if we are talking about M/M romance I am a huge fan of RJ Scott, SE Jakes and Gabrielle Evans. Of course I could go on with that list.

Tamara: Who would you choose as your “book boyfriend”? From what book? Author?

Riley from RJ Scott’s Texas series. I love the way he loves, if that makes sense? He’s bold and forward yet shy and reserved. He loves his man with every ounce in his body and had fierceness about him. Everyone deserves to be loved with such gusto as Riley loves Jack.

Beverly: What is the kinkiest thing you’ve ever done? Or would like to? What? We are all about the love!

Kinky? Love kinky…but I think that should remain a mystery, don’t you?

Tamara: What are your favorite types of heroines? Do you like the damsel in distress who needs saving or the kick-ass variety? Why?

I am all about the kick-ass woman. I think that’s a cultural thing. My parents did not raise a wall flower. They raised an independent woman who blazed her own way in the world. Luckily I met a great man along the way and we took the ride together.

Beverly: What was your worst date ever?

I can’t say that I have had a worse date, but I can say the first time I met the man that would marry; it was NOT love at first site. In fact, he made me so mad the first time we met that I threw an ash tray at him. We must have seen something in each other because we have been married for almost 30 years.

Tamara: If you were stranded on a desert island, what three things would you want to have with you? (you have food, water, shelter, all the necessities, so nothing mundane)

Can I have my Kindle and make it solar power? I have to be able to read. I need my hubby. He’s my best friend and companion. We have fun together and he’s very handy. And since I can’t choose between my three kids, I’ll leave it just the hubby and I.

Beverly: What is your “guilty pleasure”?

Dark chocolate in a cup of coffee. I come home from work and will make a cup and enjoy.

Tamara: What dream or goal have you yet to realize?

I have to say that I am really content in my life. I work at a job that I love to do and I also get to write. My husband and I are in a good place in our lives that we can just go and do, no babies at home except for the pets. I think I am living my dream right now!

Beverly: What was you most embarrassing moment?

Oh Lord, here it is. I came out of the bathroom at work and my skirt was in my tights and guess what was showing? You guessed it, my butt. Not getting too personal but I wear thongs with my tights so it was not pretty. Good thing one of the girls that I work with noticed right away.

Tamara: If you were a color what would you be and why?

Purple…love the color…it can be bright one moment and dark the next, sort of like me. I tend to be pretty easy going with a streak of sarcasm. In fact, if you ask my sister she will tell you I am a “f-ing ray of sunshine”

Beverly: Who has influenced how you perceive love? Why?

I come from a loving and strong Latin family, where my parents were affectionate with each other, my siblings and I, and family and friends. Kissing everyone hello/goodbye even if we met you for the first time is a common practice in my culture.

Tamara and Beverly: Okay. We are SSLY so I have to ask. Who loves you? OF course my hubby! Even with all my flaws.
Now for some quick fun questions:

Boxers or briefs? Boxers…loose and free
Coffee or Tea? Oh hell yeah coffee!
Tall, dark and handsome or Blond and buff? I’m Latina, of course tall, dark, and handsome
Hairy chest or smooth? Smooth
Chocolate or Vanilla? Chocolate
Kinky or Sweet? I like to start at kinky but end sweet
Fast or slow? Fast, but make it count
Public or private? Public
Top or bottom? Top

Cyril Eona always had a hard life; born with a deformity and growing up in the system until he meets Devon Haley; the man of his dreams, who becomes the love of his life. But soon, their wonderful world gets turned upside down by an unexpected arrival; a daughter.

Life changes; a couple becomes three and fatherhood looms. Can Cyril get past all his insecurities and allow Devon to show him that although life as two was wonderful, life as daddy can be ultimately fulfilling?

Allyson’s Review

We are Daddy was a short but steamy. This erotic novel about two gay men, Cyril and Devon, who got a letter saying Cyril was a father and the 2 year old’s mother had died. Cyril was born with deformation and was insecure but caring and kind. Devon was definitely the rock in the relationship, he was strong, understanding, considerate, supportive and caring. This was good quick read that sweet as well as Steamy.
