“Right.” Meg leaned back, too, folding her arms across her chest.
“Yale School of Drama here. So don’t condescend to me. I’m not a ‘dumb’ actor in love with himself. And you’re dressed pretty hot for a financial advisor with only dollars and cents on her mind. Not that I’m objecting. I love eye candy…great rack, too…” He grinned at her then pulled out his cell phone.
“Eye candy? Rack? Did you say rack? Why the nerve! Is that your cell phone? Turn it off…” She rose up out of her seat.

Megan padded into her bedroom to undress. She stared at her queen size bed, envisioning Chaz there waiting for her. The image gave her goose bumps. Stop, Meg! He’s unattainable. A guy like him would never fall for someone like you. Give it up. You’ll only end up unhappy. That’s what Mom would say. And she’d be right. Still, he’s so…so kissable…so nice.

Beverly and Tamara: Welcome to SSLY Jean! Thanks so much for joining us today. So first why don’t you tell us a little about yourself?
I’ve been a writer for over fifteen years, but have only been writing romantic fiction for the past three years. I’m married, have two sons, and live in Manhattan with my rescued pug, Homer.
Tamara: Bev, get those off of her! Sorry Jean! What do you HAVE to have when you are writing?
A mug of hot tea with milk and sugar or a glass of ice water, depending on the weather.
Beverly: *muttering* Fine! But if she leaves it’s not my fault! *releases Jean then hands cuffs to her* When did you start to write, who influenced you?
I was born to be a writer, I believe. I fell in love with books before I could read. I was making up stories by the time I was seven. My first love was Louisa May Alcott, so perhaps she convinced me to be a writer, like Jo March in Little Women.
Tamara: What do you think are the qualities that make up a “hero”?
A hero must protect the heroine, take care of her. He must be strong, physically and mentally. Handsome and a good sense of humor never hurt. But mainly he has to accept her and love her for who she is.
Beverly: Can you describe your favorite character? And which of your books is he/she in? How do you come up with your characters?
This is like trying to pick your favorite child. I love all my characters. Perhaps Gracie Brewster, pretty screenwriter in MOVIE LOVERS, because she’s my most imperfect heroine. I feel the most sympathy for the predicament she creates for herself.
Tamara: What are the hardest scenes for you to write? Suspense? Sex? Dialogue? And why?
Gut-wrenching emotional scenes about loss are the hardest for me. These are in Now and Forever, Blind Love, when Callie receives a long-delayed letter from her fiancé who was killed in Iraq and in Sweet Love Remembered, a short story in the military anthology, Call of Duty. That story is about a couple who lose a child to SIDS.
Beverly: Oh that was a heart wrenching story! What is your favorite scene in your favorite book?
I don’t have a favorite book. But I must say I loved the scene in Now and Forever 1, a Love Story, when Callie is expecting her husband, Mac, for dinner, greets him in nothing but thigh-high stockings and teased hair only to be met by the president of the university! LOL. I loved writing that scene.
Tamara: Who would you choose as your “book boyfriend/girlfriend”? From what book? Author?
I can’t pick from my own books as I’ll make my heroes jealous, so I’ll pick the hero from EASY, a fantastic young adult book.
Beverly: What is the kinkiest thing you’ve ever done? Or would like to? What? We are all about the love!
Oh, my. I didn’t know I’d be revealing anything like that. I guess making love with a guy on the floor of a hotel closet while my roommate was asleep in the hotel room. Necessity being the mother of invention! *blushes* And now I’ll just shut up.
Tamara: What are your favorite types of heroines? Do you like the damsel in distress who needs saving or the kick-ass variety? Why?
I like realistic heroines. I try to write mine that way. They aren’t perfect but they are independent. While they’re strong, they often need help, too. Don’t we all?
Beverly: What was your worst date ever?
A blind date in college with a man fifteen years older than I, six inches shorter than I who was from another country. We had nothing to talk about and I couldn’t wait to get home.
Tamara: If you were stranded on a desert island, what three things would you want to have with you? (You have food, water, shelter, all the necessities, so nothing mundane)
Books. Paper and pen and licorice, or does that qualify as food? Okay, then, how about music?
Beverly: What is your “guilty pleasure”?
Black licorice. Hot fudge sundaes, fried chicken. And I only give in to the licorice urges.
Tamara: What dream or goals have you yet to realize?
I’d like to write a historical romance series and a cowboy series, both short. I hope to realize that dream in 2014.
Beverly: What was your most embarrassing moment or the craziest thing you’ve done? C’mon dish!
Can’t put it in print. But next on the list. Hmm. Telling someone to shhhh in the dark during a business conference, only to find out when the lights went on that I had shushed the president of the ad agency where I worked and our biggest client!
Tamara: LOL! If you were a color what would you be and why?
Pink, because it’s such a happy, pretty color.
Beverly: How do you know you’re in love?
You count the hours until you’re with your beloved again. You can’t stop smiling, you want to touch him, hold his hand all the time. Your insides go liquid at his smile or touch.
Tamara and Beverly: Okay. We are SSLY so we have to ask. Who loves you?
I’m very lucky, I have love from many people: my husband, my two sons, my inlaws, and a whole bunch of fantastic, brilliant, loving friends, and total, unconditional love from Homer, my pug.

About the Author:
I didn’t start writing until about 17 years ago. I had two small children and used to get up at 5:30am to write for two hours before they got up.
No one believed I could be a writer…least of all me…but I was driven to do it anyway. Like an addict I was compelled to write.
I started out writing 500 word articles on advertising, business and parenting, based on my own experience. Lo and behold, after my first article failed, everything else I wrote got published.
This was exciting and encouraged me to attempt my first book, “Beyond the Bake Sale, the Ultimate School Fund-Raising Book.”
I got an agent from a friend of mine and she found a top publisher, St. Martin’s Press, with a fabulous editor, Elizabeth Beier and I was off.
After six more non-fiction books were published, I tried my hand at fiction. One cold day last January, while I was recuperating from loss and illness, Callie and Mac landed in my head and told me their story. I flew to my computer to get it all down, just the way they were telling me.
“Now and Forever, a Love Story” was born. The characters have no resemblance to anyone I know and, least of all, to me. They are completely formed total strangers that leaped out of my head and onto the page.
It was a wonderful experience, listening to their story. I fell in love with them. After the book was done, I couldn’t let them go. They were kind enough to bring another character to the forefront, Danny Maine who told me his story and “Now and Forever 2, the Book of Danny” was born.
After that I became a writing machine, writing seven days a week as many as seven hours a day. I finished “Now and Forever 3, Blind Love”, the first two books in the Moonlight Series: “Sunny Days, Moonlit Nights” and “April’s Kiss in the Moonlight”. And the first two books in The List series: “The Marriage List” and “The Love List”. I am finishing up the last books in these current series and will begin a new series in 2013, “Hollywood Hearts”.
I hope you will keep reading as I intend to keep writing until the stories run out, which doesn’t appear to be soon! Thank you for buying and reading my books.
