Touched by the Sandman ~ Coming to Boroughs Publishing Group ~ Giveaway ~ From Me to You Friday

My editor is a stickler about point of view. I know from reading some of the blogs he’s written. (He didn’t get me too bad the first time around!) I’m waiting to find out in this round! Touched by the Sandman has just been accepted at Boroughs Publishing Group where my first book (Dragons’ Mate) is published.

I read my submission of Touched by the Sandman over and it is a POV nightmare! LOL! I’m working on correcting it so when I get my marked up copy back I won’t be drowning!

I’ve rewritten the beginning at least three times. Well, pretty much the whole thing over three times-that I saved! I’m not sure which I prefer.

Here is a sample of the first paragraph from each of the three. They are totally different. Which do you prefer?

Sample 1:

The darkness blurred and shimmered, bringing to life a man of moonlight and darkness. He could see her, lying in bed, tears of loneliness staining her pillow. She made his heart ache. He softly stepped to her side. His hand touched her face, gently pushed back her hair. He leaned over and placed a gentle kiss on her forehead, turning her dreams from sadness to joy. The skim of his hand, the heat of his skin traced the edges of her curves. Her body arched towards his touch. He stepped back, and within the shimmer of dreams, disappeared.

Sample 2:

A dark symphony of passion and restraint played out in her dreams each night; played out with a man of moonlight and darkness. This man of shadows had captured my heart and soul during the midnight hours of my slumber. He had stolen the passion from my lips, igniting an ache in my body that even the daylight could not take away. Dare I dream that this man of shadows was real?

Sample 3:

My days were lonely. I went through them with no one really knowing the emptiness I felt inside. I had friends, sort of. They were really more acquaintances. Work tends to breed a sense of familiarity that doesn’t carry beyond the doors.

So, writing is not so easy! It is an erotic romance, and I must say I deep sixed sample three! I mean, really, would you read beyond that?

I can’t put any more as it will change drastically! That mentoring from my editor to bring out the best in me, polishing my submission is a lot of work, but I like to think of it as a rock in a tumbler. It may be a rough ride, but the end result is fantastic!

I’m feeling on top of the world, so I thought I’d do a giveaway of my first book Dragons’ Mate. It will come to the winner as a pdf, mobi or epub file, depending on what is needed.
