I must dedicate part of this review to the author, Jaime Buckley. This guy is a genius. The effort and heart he has obviously put into his work, the characters and this world is mind-blowing.” – Jennifer, UK

The pacing of this book was perfect! As I said, it’s only a short story, and sometimes it’s difficult to get the pacing right in short stories, however Mr. Buckley gets the pacing spot on! I found myself wanting to know more before I had even finished the chapter I was on!” – Heather, AU

I’ve read plenty of books that have gnomes IN them, but having one for the main character was not only new, but this was one of the most enjoyable books I’ve ever read.” – Leilani, USA

This book has all of the qualities of a great mystery and a great fantasy molded together into a wonderful story. As a mystery and fantasy junkie, I couldn’t be more thrilled that those genres were combined!” – Kaitlyn, USA

I would have thought it well worth reading just for the finale.” – Shadowlantern, USA

I was able to connect with the characters so well, Jaime’s writings have a way to bring out emotions ( good and bad) that make you feel that you know and care for the people yourreading about in the book.” – Jeremiah, USA

Anyone who knows me could tell you, I am a friendly kind of person, never
met a stranger and take up conversations any where at any time. I
work hard, and my mind never seems to shut down, as I wake up often
in the middle of the night with ideas pouring out and demanding to be
dealt with. Of course that means much of my books were written in the
middle of the night.
I grew up and still live in the great state of Texas where everything
is bigger, where we have warm weather and a central location. I love
my state, my town, and my family, which includes my four sons, my
significant other, and many friends as well.
I have thoroughly enjoyed writing the books that are currently
available and hope you will enjoy reading them just as much. And of
course, there will be many more stories to come.

Killer Pursuit

Killer Pursuit
Allison McNeil # 2
By- Jeff Gunhus
Genre- Thriller/Suspense/Mystery

When a secret webcam is found in the Georgetown bedroom of a murdered high-society call girl, everyone in Washington, DC wants the recording…especially the killer.
After a high-society call girl is brutally murdered in her Georgetown home, investigators find two cameras hidden in the walls of her bedroom. One has its memory erased, presumably by the murderer. The second is a webcam with an encrypted connection…and no-one knows who’s on the other end. Whoever has the recordings has embarrassing leverage against some of the most powerful men in DC, not to mention a video of the murder showing the identity of the killer.

FBI Special Agent Allison McNeil is asked by beleaguered FBI Director Clarence Mason to run an off-the-record investigation of the murder because of the murder’s similarity to a case she worked a year earlier. Allison knows the most direct path to apprehending the killer is to find the videos, but rumors that the victim’s client list may include some of Washington’s most powerful men makes her doubt the director’s motives. As she starts her investigation, she quickly discovers that she’s not the only one pursuing the recording…but that the most aggressive person racing against her might be the murderer himself.

Blurb:

A frightened mother on the run…
LONNIE HOGAN has lived and breathed fear for the eight years that she and her son have been on the run. She cut ties with the past and is hiding out in a small offbeat Danish community in California. Will the killers find them? She’s ready to run again, or fight for her son’s precious life, but she won’t let anyone take David.

A desperate man searching for his family…

Few people on St. John, Virgin Islands, know that their favorite doctor, MARK NORTON, is a desperate man searching for the life that was stolen from him. After hours, he surfs the internet for leads and retraces paths gone stone-cold to find his missing family. He’ll do anything to find them and get his son back.

Will sacrifice everything to protect the boy who hears God…

DAVID HOGAN is a regular kid, if you don’t count the one-ear thing. He didn’t mind being deaf in one ear, but it hurts his mom, way down deep, as if she caused it. Why won’t she see that bad things can happen for good reasons? Like the surgery that allows him to hear God. Talking to God is one of the greatest things that’s ever happened to him, even if Mom doesn’t believe it. But the killers could find them now. Can one little kid save them all?

Excerpt:

Lonnie sat down next to him and lifted the plastic ear covering. “All right, time to let that ear breathe.”

David flinched. “How’s it look?”

Big tears dripped off her cheeks.

“Um, Mom. Is it that gross?”

“Oh, baby.” She kissed him on the forehead. “It’s amazing.”

She didn’t lie. The outside edge of the ear was still wrapped in a bandage, but my goodness, it was no longer a little nub. He had a new ear complete with an ear canal. It was plugged with tan-colored goo, but there it was—an actual hole.

“Amazing is good, right?” David asked.

Pulling him into her arms, she gave him a gentle hug. “So good.” She kissed his cheek. “A wonderful miracle.” She kissed his forehead.

“Mom, I can’t breathe.”

She released him. “Sorry.”

He looked her in the eyes. “You believe in miracles?”

Lonnie was taken aback. She believed in them a long time ago, but now? Tucking her feet under her, she sighed. “I used to.”

“Why’d you stop? Was it when Dad died?”

“It’s a long story.”

How could she tell him about the horrors she’d been through? David was eight years old and still believed in Santa. Why wouldn’t he believe in God, angels, and the tooth fairy? She didn’t want to take any of it from him. Not yet. He was growing up so fast.

She chose the simplest explanation. “If there is a God, I don’t understand how He could let bad stuff happen. War, hunger, sickness. Why allow those things? Especially babies born with—” she did not, nor would she ever say the word deformed, “—with problems? If there is a God, I’m really mad at Him.”

He stared at his knees for a moment as if mulling over her answer. Turning a hopeful face towards her he said, “Maybe God has a plan. Like, um, bad stuff happens for good reasons?”

She ran her fingers through her hair. “I don’t know, kiddo. That’s kind of hard for me to swallow.”

David was silent for a moment and then said, “You’ve swallowed worse haven’t you?”

“What’s that supposed to mean?”

“I have no idea.” He massaged his neck, like his dad used to do. It took her breath away.

“David.” She put a hand on his shoulder. “Why would you say that?”

A strange look passed over his face. It reminded her of the time when he was three and snuck a gallon of ice cream out of the freezer, hid in his closet, and ate it until he was sick.

“No clue.” He tapped his forehead. “Since the surgery, thoughts pop into my head like someone else is in there.”

“What?” Worry flickered up her spine.

She lifted his chin until they were eye-to-eye and studied him. His pupils were normal, his coloring fine. Except for the giant bandage wrapped around his ear, he looked like a healthy kid.

“You’re tired.” She put the protective covering back on his ear. “Rest, now. Maybe the medicines are making your brain fuzzy.”

“Yeah, that’s probably it,” he said.

But his expression said something else. It was the ice-cream-sneaking-guilt-face all over again. He was hiding something from her.

Something big.

author

clip_image006Patricia D. Eddy has been a writer all of her life. She used to sit at her parents’ kitchen counter at an Apple IIe typing out short stories. She even wrote a few on their old typewriter. But it wasn’t until NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) in 2011 that she ever came close to finishing a story she started.

Once that dam broke, the flood waters never receded. Patricia sits down to write every evening after dinner and quite often sees midnight come and go before she heads to bed. She doesn’t sleep much. But she wouldn’t have it any other way.

In her spare (HA!) time she runs, bikes, swims, yogas, pilates-es, reads, and is terribly addicted to Doctor Who and Sherlock. Apparently she has a thing for quirky British men.

A modern tale weaved with a fresh twist on werewolf legends, today’s forensics, betrayal, romance, and a dash of kick-ass.

As a moonwulf, Daciana never expected to fall in love with a human. Hell, she never imagined that she’d abandon her pack, endanger everyone around her, and break the worst rule possible. But she did. A rogue werewolf is killing Daciana’s friends, and she sets on capturing the creature. She’ll do whatever it takes to stop the beast. The police and her boyfriend, Inspector Connell Lonescu, are starting to question her involvement in the murders, which is endangering the pack’s secret existence. But when the pack alpha kidnaps Connell, revealing the awful truth about the creature and its connection to the pack, Daciana must choose between saving the man she loves and saving her pack family from certain death.
Sensuality Level: Sensual

Crystal’s Review:

Daciana is living a double life and it is about to catch up with her. She is a werewolf and she can never leave her pack and pack always comes first. They have already chosen a mate for her. Only thing is she is in love with a human named Connell. Connell is a cop and is getting suspicious about Daciana. He knows that she is hiding something. He has been burned before because his ex-wife lied to him and he can’t stand lies.

In this book Daciana is trying to find a potion that will turn her into a human so she can leave her pack and live with the man she loves. She wasn’t counting on a rogue wolf to start killing everyone that she knows. This story will leave you wonder what in the world is going on. It is very suspenseful and you can’t wait to get to the bottom of the secrets. Seems in this book you don’t know who you can and can’t trust.

I usually don’t read many books that have suspense in them. They have to really catch my eye or just have a blurb that I can’t pass. That is what happened with this book. I don’t regret reading this book. I was kept guessing until the end. It isn’t just finding out who is behind all the killings but can a man with a some baggage live through all the secrets of the woman he loves? That is something that I just had to find out.

I am wondering if there will be another book after this one, I really would love to see what goes on with these characters. Some things were left unanswered. This would make a wonderful series. The author sure knows how to write a very intriguing book that leaves you wanting more. I will be looking for more books by this author.

Review:
When I first started this book I thought it was going to be a sweet paranormal read. Little did I know that Lord Henri wasn’t as he seemed and he was really going crazy. I know how Avrum had to feel when he found out the man that he looked up to was a very sadistic person. Henri was treating Haven worse than he had ever seen. Tying her up biting and hitting her. She was never going to be the woman that Henri wanted. Little did Avrum know that she would become his light to the darkness surrounding him.

This was a well written story and it was easy to get lost in the story line. It was exciting and suspenseful. I really wanted something bad to happen to Henri and the guards that he used to help him. I am still wondering how the ending came about. I have a few questions and maybe one day they will be answered. It is good to see good and bad vampires just like there are good and bad humans. I would love to be a vampire. To have the added strength and everything else that comes with being a vampire. You could see the strengths that Haven had even though she would really love to die and get it over with.

I liked how the love started a little at a time between Avrum and Haven. It was something sweet and hot all at the same time. I was wondering how this book was going to end and I liked the ending and hope that there will be more from this author. I recommend that anyone that loves books about vampires read this and you won’t regret it.
