Welcome my good friend Kathleen Ann Gallagher!
About Kathleen:
Kathleen writes contemporary, paranormal, and erotic romance. She lives in New Jersey with her husband, Joseph, and their two puppies, Chaz, and Luc. Her children are all grown, but her three grandsons keep her spirit energized. She is a registered nurse who works in an emergency room. Her passion for story telling began when she was a young girl. Since her father was a professional magician, she learned how to use her imagination while assisting him with his act. When Kathleen is not writing her favorite place to relax is down the Jersey Shore. You might find her under an umbrella, wearing a straw hat, dreaming of a new story.
Thanks so much for joining us today. So first why don’t you tell us a little about yourself.
Kathleen: It’s great to be here! Thank you for inviting me. I write contemporary, paranormal and erotic romance. I’m a registered nurse who works in an emergency room. When I’m home, you’ll find me at my computer with my two puppies at my feet.
Tamara: What do you HAVE to have when you are writing?
Kathleen: Hands down, coffee!
Tamara: Now you know why we are friends! 🙂
Beverly: When did you start to write?
Kathleen: I remember writing poetry in the third grade. I was a hopeless romantic even back then.
Tamara: What do you think are the qualities that make up a “hero”?
Kathleen:
My idea of a hero is someone who respects and values women. If he treats his mother and sister well, he gets a vote from me. He should possess an honest and open heart. I like a hero who gives back to people who are in need. An added bonus is the ability to make me laugh.
Tamara: Oh, good answer!
Beverly: Can you describe your favorite character? And which of your books is he/she in? How do you come up with your characters?
Kathleen: It’s hard to choose a favorite. When I begin a new book, the characters who I’m writing about at the time become my favorites. I love all of them. My characters pop into my head. It’s like they pick me to tell their story.
Tamara: What are the hardest scenes for you to write? Suspense? Sex? Dialogue? And why?
Kathleen: The hardest scenes for me to write are the sex scenes. I have to make sure the heat is sizzling, but realistic. It’s important to remember your hero and heroine are not contortionists.
Beverly: What writer, if any, influenced how you write?
Kathleen: I fell in love with romance when I started reading Danielle Steel books. Although he’s not a romance author, Nicholas Sparks has also influenced my writing.
Tamara: Who would you choose as your “book boyfriend”? From what book? Author?
Kathleen: I swoon over Michael from Trinity, book one, in The Brethren Series. Have you seen the cover?
Tamara: Um, No, Hey Bev we better check it out.
Beverly: What is the kinkiest thing you’ve ever done? Or would like to? What? We are all about the love!
Kathleen: The kinkiest thing I’ve done is jump in the backseat with my husband. Lol
Tamara: Ha ha, you and are about equal in kink. What are your favorite types of heroines? Do you like the damsel in distress who needs saving or the kick-ass variety? Why?
Kathleen: I prefer the strong, independent heroine. A girl who knows what she wants and works hard to get it is someone I want to write about. She may have conflicts in her life, but she’s not going to let anyone take away her dreams.
Beverly: What was your worst date ever?
Kathleen: My worse date was with a bachelor who took me to the golf course to watch him play eighteen holes. Who wants to watch a bunch of men hit a little ball around? Not me.
Tamara: My DH says, “golf is men in funny pants walking” um yeah! If you were stranded on a desert island, what three things would you want to have with you? (you have food, water, shelter, all the necessities, so nothing mundane)
Kathleen: I’d have to have my flat iron, whipped cream, and lots of chocolate candy.
Tamara: Where are you going to plug in the flat iron?
Beverly: What is your “guilty pleasure”?
Kathleen: Don’t laugh. I have to have a can of whipped cream in the refrigerator at all times.
Tamara: What dream or goal have you yet to realize?
Kathleen: Maybe I aspire to be a talk show host. I might wind up the next Oprah. lol
Beverly: What was you most embarrassing moment?
Kathleen: I don’t really get embarrassed. We all make mistakes. Okay, maybe when I had a panic attack reading a story in front of the class in sixth grade.
Tamara: If you were a color what would you be and why?
Kathleen: I’d be hot pink. Who doesn’t want to be hot?
Beverly: Who has influenced how you perceive love? Why?
Kathleen: My parents taught me how to love. They were kind, compassion and giving people. I’ll never forget their unconditional love.
Tamara and Beverly: Okay. We are SSLY so I have to ask. Who loves you?
Kathleen: You love me, Tamara and Beverly! I love you, too!
