Blurb A Burning Kind of Love

Gaines, Wyoming is just a dot on the map, but it’s home to Tammy Lewis. Abandoned by her “free spirit” parents, she was raised on the Rope N Ride Ranch by her grumpy gramps and doting grandma. The land and horses are her life…and it’s in danger. A raging brush fire is sweeping down the mountain.

Dallas firefighter, Cameron Wheeler came to Gaines for duty, he didn’t expect to find destiny.  Drawn to the exotic beauty and indomitable spirit of the woman he’s sent to rescue—offered a chance at a real home and family in a new community.

Will the rescuer become the rescued? Or will the fire burning between them explode and leave only ashes behind?

Excerpt- A Burning Kind of Love

“Miss, I’m Cameron Wheeler, from Dallas Fire and Rescue. Chief West sent me to make sure you had evacuated. The winds have shifted and the fire is headed straight this way. You need to get out now.”

Tammy looked him up and down. “What does it look like I’m doing, hotstuff? Twiddling my thumbs?”

“It looks like you’re evacuating your horses. I understand that, but you may not have time for that. You need to get yourself out. The horses are only animals, you need to save yourself.”

Tammy held the lead rope to Hercules in one hand and placed her other hand on her hip. “The horses are only animals, huh? So, I should just leave them to die? To be burned to death? These horses are my life! They are my livelihood, but more than that, they are my family!”

“Listen, lady, I understand they are your livelihood, but you can’t make a living if your dead. You can always buy more horses. You can’t buy a new life.”

Tammy poked a finger in his chest. “You are not hearing me, mister. Yes, I can buy more horses, easily, because these horses are worth a fortune and each one is insured. However, I can’t replace these horses. I’ve had Hercules here since I was fifteen years old. He is a part of my family. I love him. I’m not going to leave him here to die. It would be like leaving my child here. So, if you want me to get out of here, grab a horse and help, or get your cute ass out of my way and let me load my horses.”

Tammy walked the horse forward and Cam had no choice but to step back or get run over.

Blurb Sensing Love

He finally found his soul mate, only to see her violently murdered. All in a dream. Sometimes it’s hell to be a psychic. Mataus Montoya has a mission. Find the woman of his dreams, and change her destiny.

Cara “Mo” Konklin runs Mighty Mo’s, a program for underprivileged children, on her ranch in Prairieville, Louisiana. The former soldier has no time for love and no belief in psychic mumbo jumbo, but when fate throws an abused child in her path, literally. And the crazy psychic’s predictions all come true, including the one that he is the other half of her soul. What is a sensible soldier to do?

Together, Mo and Mataus must protect the child in her care and fight the unknown evil that stalks her in the darkness. Mataus sensed his love, but will his gift be enough to save her or will fortune steal their happily ever after?

Excerpt One Sensing Love.

The first rays of the morning sun filtered through the curtains and fell on the beauty that lay beside Mataus.

Bathed in the light she glistened like an angel, her blonde tresses a golden halo surrounding alabaster skin, so soft and smooth it begged for his touch. Pale blonde lashes caressed her cheeks in sleep and her plump pink lips were slightly parted. Mataus leaned down to brush his lips to hers, but before he could taste the sweetness of her mouth he found himself standing in the dark. He was in the country. The smell of hay and horses permeated the air. No moon lit the sky, only a sprinkling of stars. In the faint light he could make out the shape of a barn and a house in the distance, fenced pastures and a gravel drive.

Mataus walked along the gravel road toward the house. A sense of foreboding clawed at his aura. As he grew closer, the outline of a large truck parked in the driveway came into view. A shadow crept around the vehicle.

Evil, a hatred so pure it almost brought him to his knees shot to his mind. An explosion. Flames. A maniacal laugh.

Mataus woke with a start. Sweat drenched his body. For three nights now he had dreamed of the angel in his bed, but this was the first time he had sensed danger surrounding her. Fuck! He threw the covers off and sat on the edge of the bed, swiping his hands down his face.

He needed a shower to think. Heaving himself off the bed he staggered to the bathroom and turned the spray on as hot as he could stand it. As the pounding water eased his taut muscles flashes of his dream ran through his head. He closed his eyes and the woman appeared in front of him, so vibrant and real, he wanted to reach out and touch her. In his heart, he knew she was the key. The missing essence that would blend with his aura and complete his soul.

Switching off the water, Mataus scrubbed a towel over his skin and walked to the sink. Naked, he ran the electric razor over his face, brushing his teeth at the same time. A heavy swipe of deodorant, to combat the New Orleans heat, then a splash of cologne and he was set for the day.

Sauntering into the bedroom he threw on a pair of well-worn jeans and a T-shirt that said, You’re never too old to have invisible friends. Barefoot, he headed for the kitchen and some chicory coffee and a beignet.

As soon as Mataus had a little caffeine in his system he knew what he needed to do. He had to call his cousin Harley.

Excerpt Two Sensing Love.

Shannon had badgered her endlessly, so Mo had given in, and much to her chagrin. She now sat at the long polished bar at the Spotted Cat Jazz Club. Shannon insisted it was “real” New Orleans jazz, not the gimmicky stuff for tourists, but a place the locals loved. Personally, Mo liked country music. However, she wouldn’t dare say that in here, she’d probably get killed with just a look.

She glanced at her watch for the tenth time and lamented the fact that her friend was running late as usual. Mo ran on military time. If you were supposed to be somewhere at nineteen hundred hours, seven o’clock civilian time, then you got there at a quarter to seven or you were late. Shannon ran on southern time. That meant she arrived around seven-thirty, if Mo was lucky.

She sipped her slippery nipple and tapped her foot on the bar stool. Mo didn’t have PTSD exactly, but she was uncomfortable in crowds. She liked to keep her back to the wall and her eye on the door. In this place, however, if she moved to a back booth, she wouldn’t be able to see the entrance. Her eyes nevertheless, scanned the room in a continuous arc, unconsciously searching the room for danger, and she kept an ever-present gaze toward the front door.

Therefore, she couldn’t have missed his entrance. Six-foot-three inches of solid muscle encased in black leather pants and a skin tight black T-shirt sauntered in the door. His face was surrounded by a mass of shaggy brown hair, but it was the deep black eyes that zeroed in on her that held her stunned. Those eyes shone with a moment of incredible recognition, quickly masked, and then his face split into a brilliant smile. Bright white teeth flashed in his dark skin, and the man headed straight for her.

Oh shit! Cara turned back to the bar, hoping in vain the man would not approach. She knew her ploy had failed when she felt a warm presence at her side.

“Is this seat taken?” a deep voice with a slight Cajun lilt asked, sending heat cascading up her spine. As much as Cara wanted to say “yes” she couldn’t lie. “No, please have a seat,” she answered.

“Mataus Montoya,” he said extending a hand to her. Reluctantly, she placed her hand in his. A spark zipped up her arm at the contact.

“Cara Konklin, but you can call me Mo.”

“Really? How do you get Mo out of Cara?”

“Long story. I was in service and it’s just what I ended up with as a nickname. Everyone calls me Mo.”

“But you won’t tell me how you got the nickname?”

“Nope, gotta earn that privilege.”

“Well, I look forward to that. Can I buy you a drink, Mo?”

“I’m still good with this one, but thanks.”

“You here all alone?”

“No, I’m waiting for friends. They are running late, as usual,” she muttered.

“Uh oh. Not happy with your friends?”

“Oh, I’m not mad. Just irritated. Shannon is always late. It’s a pet peeve of mine.”

“I’ll try to remember that too.”

“Why would you need to remember that?”

“Because I will be seeing you again.”

“Moving a little fast there, cowboy. What makes you think so?”

“I can see the future?”

Mo raised an eyebrow at him. “Seriously? Does that line ever work with girls?”

Mataus laughed. “I’m not joking. I’m a psychic,” he said with a straight face.

“You’re really not joking are you?”

He reached out and took both her hands in his. “No, I’m not.”

Mo was getting a little freaked out. “Why are you looking at me like that?” she asked.

He stroked a thumb across her knuckles. “Because I’ve been dreaming of you.”

She pulled her hands back as if she’d been burned. What the fuck?

“Okay, mister, did somebody give you a day pass from the funny farm?”

The man had the gall the laugh, hard. “No, sweet Mo. I love that name, by the way. I am not an escaped mental patient. You do know you are in New Orleans, right? Home of psychics, HooDoo, VooDoo, and all kinds of other spiritual phenomenon.”

“I live in Prairieville, I’m not used to you crazy New Orleans folk,” Mo replied.

Mataus shook his head. “We’re not crazy, just a little different.”

“If you say so,” Mo knew she looked skeptical. Shannon and Mike chose that moment to make an appearance. Shannon threw her arms around Mo’s neck from behind and kissed her cheek.

“Hey lady, sorry we’re late. The sitter was late—”

“Save it, soldier. I know the drill,” Mo interrupted.

Shannon laughed. “Yeah, I know, ‘no excuses, soldier.’ So, who’s the handsome honey keeping you company? Introduce us.”

“Mataus Montoya, may I present my erstwhile friends Shannon and Mike Hodgins.”

“Mataus Montoya? Are you the Mataus Montoya? The famous artist? The one that does all those fabulous landscapes of New Orleans?” Shannon asked.

Mataus blushed. “Guilty as charged, yes.”

“Wow, Mo. You’re sitting with a celebrity.”

“Hmm, I thought you said you were a psychic? And frankly, I thought you were crazy.”

Shannon looked from one to the other with curiosity.

“I am a psychic, I didn’t say it was my job,” Mataus replied. “And I told you I wasn’t crazy.”

“What’s going on here?” Shannon asked.

“Let’s get a table. I think we have some talking to do,” Mo said.

I was thrilled when Sable Hunter asked me to write for the Hell Yeah series! I have always loved the McCoys, and Sable is one of my favorite authors. My book, Sensing Love, is linked to Sable’s book, Burning Love, which is one of my favorites. I adored Harley and Beau and it was so fun to include them in this book!

I hope you will enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it. Mo is a very special character to me. She is based on one of my foster daughters, a real life heroine, and US Army veteran.  Tell me in the comments if you have a hero/heroine in your life.

From Me to You Friday-Tamara- Howl Sassy

Howl Sassy is book 4 in the Animal in Me series. I love Alice and Sebastian and hope you you will too. This book is dedicated to the real life Alice Miller, ad Beverly Ovalle, who co-operates the blog with me (actually she does all the work, lol) They have been my best friends since high school. Should I tell you long that’s been? (cough) Over 30 years!

The Alice in the book shares nothing in common with the real Alice, except her name and blue eyes, but I love her character. She is definitely a sassy girl.

Read on for a look at my hot new release and the links to buy!

HowlSassy_MED

Most shifters are lucky to find one true mate in life. A hundred years after the murder of his first mate, the Goddess gifts Sebastian Von Drake with a second match. However, his sassy mate resists their union. Her past hold secrets she doesn’t want to share.
Alice Miller is drawn to the stick in the mud wolf like no one she’s ever met before, but she can’t mate him and risk everything. Why won’t he take no for an answer?
Danger, intrigue, traitors, spies, and secrets…combined with the irresistible passion of a shifter for his mate. Bastian will claim Alice, come hell or high water. No matter how much the sassy wolf howls.

Excerpt:

Another two dozen roses were delivered to her door and Alice barely managed a meager smile for the poor delivery man as she slipped him a tip and slammed the box on her granite countertop. “Crap on a cracker! Why can’t the damn wolf take a hint! I can’t mate him. For the love of God, who knows what the hell that would do?

“Now, he’s got me talking to myself! Great! Just confirming what the whole world thinks, I am a crazy Polack. Oy! If Gramps finds out about this he’s going to send me to the Gulag! I may as well pack my bags now. He’s going to turn into his werewolf and eat me for brunch! Maybe I should cancel going to the wedding? Ugh, I can’t do that to Jenna—” Just then her cell phone rang, her mother’s number displayed on the caller I.D.

“Hi, Momma.”

“Hey, baby, what’s up?”

“I just got flowers from that crazy wolf again.”

“You better tell your grandfather what’s going on, before it’s too late.”

“But Ma—”

“Dontcha ‘but Ma’ me, you know you have to. He needs to know. If you two are really mates that wolf isn’t gonna go away. Grandpa needs to know, and you two need to figure out what to do together.”

“Ahh man, he’s gonna kill me, isn’t he?” Alice whined.

“Your grandfather loves you. He won’t kill you. He might growl a little, but he won’t bite…much,” her mother soothed.

“Yeah right. Will you come with me?”

The other end of the line was suspiciously quiet. “Umm, I think this is something you need to do on your own.”

“Yeah, that’s what I thought. You’re afraid of the old geezer.”

“Well…maybe a little.”

“Send your only daughter into the lion’s den, but you won’t come yourself.”

“Haha, it’s not the lion’s den, it’s the wolf’s.”

Dragons’ Mate

be297-dragons2bmate_finalcoverDragons’ Mate

By Beverly Ovalle

Published: Boroughs Publishing Group

They had been searching for their mate, but when they find her she is traumatized and scared to be around strange men. They must get her to accept them before they reveal their true natures. Will their love be strong enough to break down her barriers? Could she truly be destined to love two dragons?

Today Annie’s dragons will shift and fulfill her every desire, which means a fiery threesome—and true love.

Excerpt:

They slowly stared her down, gold and green eyes unblinking. Grrr, dragons. Sometimes she could tell they thought they were boss.

Tine suddenly leapt up and licked her from head to toe. Ew. Brand followed suit and licked her too, evidently not to be outdone. Ugh. Now she was wet and sticky all over. Glaring at them, she stripped and dove into the pond. The sensation was decadent, the movement of the warm water caressing her hypersensitive body. Then the water swirled behind her and she recognized the dragons had followed her in.

“Get out!” she cried, surfacing. She did not want to share. The boys were the reason she needed to rinse off in the first place.

Of course they didn’t listen; they loved to play like this. Brand came up beneath her, positioning himself so that Annie was straddling his snout, and he lifted her up out of the water atop his head. After the dream she’d had, her flesh was tingling and reactive, and she had a flash of panic. That supple dragonskin kindled heat better left unexplored, and she was just about to dismount when Tine leapt up and nudged her forward, tumbling her off and dumping her headfirst into the water. From the noises, she swore both dragons were laughing. Then she thought she heard, It is time.

From Me to You Friday- Grin and Bear It- It’s Release Day!

GrinandBearIt_LRG

A trip to the library can change your life, but Guiles Fredricks never expected to find his mate standing behind the checkout desk. One whiff of her blackberry and lavender scent has him hooked, but the fear haunting her emerald green eyes makes his bear roar to claim and protect her.
Gina Salducci came to Honey Corners to hide. On the run from her abusive ex- boyfriend she fears she will never be safe. Nick Mancuso runs Atlantic City, he has ties to the mob and won’t hesitate to kill her if he finds her. Obviously her taste in men sucks.
When her fears are realized and danger finds her, will she run again, or find it in her heart to trust the bear that vows he is her mate?

Excerpt

Guiles guided her out to her car with a gentle hand on the small of her back, Gina loved the gentlemanly gestures that seemed second nature to the bear. They made her feel protected and cherished. When they reached her battered Toyota Gina flushed in embarrassment. “Sorry, I know she’s not what you’re used to driving, but she got me here.” She patted the roof of the small car.
Pulling her into his arms he kissed her forehead, her nose and then pecked her lips. “Sweet Gina, I would not care if we traveled in a horse and carriage. I only care that I am with you.”
God, he was so sweet. How did I get so lucky? Gina handed him the keys. “Do you want to drive?”
“Thank you,” he replied, taking the keys from her hand and opening the passenger door to seat her in the vehicle. “Buckle up.” Gina watched the flex of muscles in his magnificent ass as he crossed to the driver’ side and folded his huge body into the small confines of her compact.
He fired up the car and turned up the heat before turning to her. “Would you mind spending the day at my house? My bear feels the need to have you in our den.”
“Your den? This really is a different world, isn’t it? I would love to see your house. I’d really like the chance to talk. I want to learn more about this mating thing and what it entails.”
Gina started when Guiles’ eyes flashed amber for a brief moment before returning to their normal hazel color. “What the hell was that?” Gina exclaimed.
Guiles chuckled. “My bear. He was rather excited by the idea of mating with you sweet Gina. In fact, it is all that is on his mind.”
“Horny little bugger, is he?”
“Horny, yes. Little, no.” Guiles laughed. “You’ve never seen a transformed shifter have you?” Guiles asked.
“Mmm, well, no.”
“My bear is about ten feet tall, Gina.”
“Holy fuck! I’m not sure I want to see that. He won’t hurt me, will he?”
“Of course not. I am still me when I shift. My bear loves you as much as I do. He would die to protect you.”
“Whoa, now just hold on a New York minute. Did you just say you love me?”
Guiles reached across and took her hand, drawing it to his mouth for a kiss. “Of course, I love you, sweet Gina. I have been waiting for you for over a hundred and fifty years. I have dreamed of the day we would meet. You are everything I ever dreamed of and more.”
“Guiles, you don’t even know me…I-I’m…broken. I wish we had met a few years ago, before—”
He squeezed her hand. “Baby, there is no before. There is only now and the future. Whatever it takes, however long it takes, I will make you forget all the bad things in your past. I promise you from this day forward you will be nothing but cherished and loved.”

EXCERPT

“You need some posters or a mural or something on the ceiling in here,” Finn mused aloud after a few minutes.

“Why’s that?”

Finn squinted at the offending blank ceiling, attempting to picture the perfect art as he answered. “Judging by your incredibly sexy body, you spend a lot of time in here. You need something to focus on. There’re some studies that suggest visual stimuli is directly linked to physical health.”

“What do you think of these studies?”

At the curiosity in Austen’s voice, Finn rolled onto his side and up onto his elbow. His gaze swept down Austen’s body, taking in every hardened line and scar. His cock lengthened as hunger rose inside him. This man was under his skin. There wasn’t one particular attribute he could point to in order to explain his insane desire to touch Austen, but it was there. When he met Austen’s stare, there was no way Finn could hide his desire. “I think a little visual stimulation has never hurt anyone.”

Austen’s mouth quirked in one corner at Finn’s claim. “The view in here is looking pretty damn good right now.”

Finn wanted to kiss him. His lips tingled with longing, but sometimes, Austen didn’t invite Finn’s touch. He didn’t know how to explain it. There were moments when Austen’s expression remained closed, shutting Finn out—times such as now. Tearing himself away from temptation, Finn settled down beside Austen once more, going back to staring into space. “I can’t hang around all day, but maybe I can figure out something else. Maybe there’s a book somewhere about images for every environment.”

He felt Austen tense beside him a split second before Austen’s mouth came down upon his—hard and hot. Surprise gave way to lust in an instant as Finn opened for him. Finn flattened his palms against the floor beside him to keep from reaching for Austen. His skin itched to be closer, but he didn’t want to ruin the moment, and it seemed like he always did somehow.

Review

Heart’s Chord is a heartwarming tale of love and acceptance. The depth of emotion between Finn and Austen had me falling in love with both of them. Both Finn and Austen needed someone to believe in them and they found it in each other. They both just had to realize it. Their self doubt was their biggest enemy and almost their undoing.

Austen was a brooding man, unable to believe that a man like Finn would look twice at him, let alone stay with him. Finn found someone that accepted him as he was, someone who believed wholeheartedly in his dreams. That man was Austen. Finn’s life growing up and Austen’s wounds made it hard to believe they were worth loving.

I cheered them on, cried with them and hugged myself in glee. I truly enjoyed Heart’s Chord and meeting Finn and Austen and sharing their joys and sorrows. Their passion spilled on to the page to draw me in to their lives.
