Decadent Book Tour ~ Heat Wave 1Night Stand ~ Taryn Kincaid

Heat Wave (4 flames) Heat-Wave-300x450Heat Wave
by Taryn Kincaid

Sent into the human realm to retrieve prodigal princess, Zena Night, Bhyrne Raines is shocked and unprepared for his carnal reaction to the sexy succubus. In service to the succubus queen, the rugged enforcer must stifle the instant passion exploding within him. Fulfilling his royal duty doesn’t allow for quickie dalliances. His biological clock is ticking, and he begins to enter breedspawn, an intense and unstoppable frenzy of mating all fire-demon males must endure. But the more he wants to avoid Zena, the more he’s drawn to her.

Reluctant to give up her carefree life of partying among the mortals when the hot-as-sin Bhyrne comes to fetch her for the queen, Zena uses her succubus wiles to entice him, or at least delay the inevitable trip to the royal court. Once in the demon stronghold, hidden deep within the Catskill mountains, she learns the reason for the summons: she must choose a consort within two days.

Zena needs a mate. Bhyrne needs to mate. With time running out for both of them, they each turn to 1Night Stand. With time running out, can Madame Eve come to the rescue?

Holy freeze gun, Batman. The words died before she managed to expose them to air. Her mouth snapped shut.

One of the Queen’s guards stood before her, huge and tall, nearly twice the size of most of the other males in the joint, a hella hunka supernatural male. Clearly not human, although Hugo Boss’d to his Adam’s apple in an apparent bid to fit in among the humans trolling for hot sex, illicit drugs, watered-down booze and loud music. Beneath the fabric of the unstructured designer suit, the toned muscles of a demonic warrior rolled like tidal waves. Even without the small lapel pin the uninformed might mistake for the The Rolling Stones’ logo, she’d recognize him for a captain of the guard. Maybe the Queen’s own Captain.

Hellfire and cotton candy. Trouble. T-R-O-U-B-L-E.

But, by the goddess, whattahottie! Despite her certainty that his presence in the club corridor boded ill for her, the force of her sudden hunger shook her.

Like lightning.

A desperate bolt out of the blue.

Instant connection to him on the paranormal plane, as if he’d wrapped her aura in gold chains and tugged her to him. But did that fast lane to heaven run one way or two?

A grim expression straightened the lines of what otherwise might have been a generous, sensuous mouth. A military buzz cut had weed-whacked hair the color of iron. And it didn’t stop there. Without doubt, metal fortified every single cell in the massive male’s body, pure titanium flowing in his veins. The stern planes and angles of a hard-edged, swoon-worthy face set grimly as cement. Though he lounged in the hallway like any Archie or Jughead waiting in line to discharge his rented beer in a urinal, he exuded authority, his carriage and bearing such that he made the others look like a pack of Twizzlers. Oh. Yeah. More than a mere guardsman, she guessed. An enforcer.

Author Bio:

Taryn Kincaid lives in scenic Somewhere-by-the-Sea. (Go ahead. Try to find it on a map. If you do, Taryn will send you a smooch. Also a Nutter Butter.) She is an Olympic caliber athlete in egg rolling contests and spends a great deal of her time petitioning the U.S.O.C. to introduce a fantail shrimp competition. When she’s not bungee jumping off the Palisades or parasailing up and down the Hudson River, she devotes her time to caring for her aging pet walrus, arranging her voodoo doll-pin collection and practicing rhythmic chants. At this moment, she is busy sweeping up the loose masala chai tea leaves she spilled all over the kitchen floor. (Probably because she needs Real Coffee.) Wait. Is that something…sparkly?

Blog Tour ~ Dom of the Dead ~ Guest Blog by Virginia Nelson

authorheadshotHow Can a Ghost Have Sex?

Surprisingly, this was the question most reviewers, bloggers, readers, and Facebook friends have posed when they read the blurb for my paranormal release, Dom of the Dead.
“It’s less complicated than you’d think,” has been my boilerplate answer.
Besides, this book isn’t about the bump and grind.
Okay, okay…it’s a very sexy book. Randall was a dominant sexually when he was alive and dying didn’t change what made him tick. What it did change was what was important to him.
Dom of the Dead opens with my heroine in pain, agonizing pain, and coming to terms with something a lot of us deal with at some point or another. She’s loved a man for most of her life—he’d been her best friend, her confidante, her knight in dinged up and rusted armor—and yet she’d never risked telling him how she really felt.
What if time ran out? What if you didn’t have tomorrow to fix things?
Even though we’re told to live every day as if it’s our last, most of us think there will be more time. There are things we have to do—pay bills, fulfill duties, clean things, clean ourselves—and we tend to put off the things that give us the most pleasure. We don’t have time today. We don’t have time right now. We’ll get to it as soon as we catch up.
Does anyone ever catch up? I know I sure as hell don’t.
We’re so busy fulfilling those roles we’ve given ourselves over the years—mother, father, brother, sister, friend, employee, whatever—and we put off to tomorrow the things we most want to do. How many of you want to write a book? Learn to paint? Learn karate?
Lemme guess…You’re totally going to do it, too, once you have time.
Randall runs out of time. Carson runs out of time. Left with regrets—which make for really crappy company—they are granted a magical moment…
Well, I won’t ruin it for you. If you want to read more, check out my release. It’s a ghost story and the perfect thing for a windy October night with leaves rustling against the brittle yellow grass and pumpkins leering on your porch. Grab a cup of cider, curl up with their story, and drop me a line and tell me what you think.
In the meantime? Quit putting that stuff off. Take that time for you, kay?

DOD1Night Stand
Dom of the Dead
by Virginia Nelson

She couldn’t imagine living without him.

After Carson Black’s longtime crush and best friend, Randall Stokes, dies in a motorcycle accident, she openly weeps at his funeral. In the ensuing days and weeks of inconsolable grief, she hears his voice, smells his scent, feels his desires. She must be going mad.

He was afraid to demand what he needed.

Dominant Randall Stokes loves Carson but never expressed it while alive, never daring to dream the sweet girl next door could be the submissive he needed to find satisfaction. But after his death, a much clearer perspective of her needs, wants, and desires emerges.

A ghost of a chance…

Is it too late to have what they’ve both longed for?

What Readers are saying:

“These are two best friends who finally realize that their love can transcend their friendship and in this case even the grave. ” -Sheri Vidal

“I can’t remember the last time I read a book so fast. ” – JoAnne Kenrick

“Dom of the Dead by Virginia Nelson is an epic story that deals with heart breaking loss, and makes you face the fact that you have to make the most of the time you have.” – Asher Rae

About the Author:
Virginia Nelson spends her days chasing three very active kids around. When she is not doing this, or plotting taking over the world, she likes to write, play in the mud, drive far too fast and scream at inanimate objects. She can often be found listening to music that is far too loud and typing her next fantastic tale of blood, sex and random acts of ineptitude. Romance, in Ms. Nelson’s opinion, is not about riding off into the sunset on the back of a horse with the knight in shining armor— it is about riding the dragon. If the knight can keep up… well, that is love.

Enjoy the following excerpt for Dom of the Dead:

“Don’t make me punish you, Carson.”
Her legs shook at the snapped command. She fought dueling emotions—one part of her trembling in desire, the other mad…because, now? When he was dead and gone?
“What are you going to do? You’re a ghost. I knew what you were when you were alive, Randall. Yet not once—never—did you ever make one sexual move toward me. Always the white knight. Always the friend. Why would that change now that you’re pushing up daisies?”
A blast of warm wind picked her up, almost slamming her into the wall. The spectral gust pinned her hands above her head as if held by invisible cuffs and spread her legs open to the humid air. She fought down a wave of unbridled lust.
“When I was alive, I worried my desires would scare you. I worried that what I wanted would disgust you, ruin our friendship.”
She panted, breasts rising and falling with each inhalation. A cool feeling, like ice being rubbed against her, zinged awareness and pleasure through her, but she bit her lip to stay silent, waiting for his next move.
“I know what you want. You want me to take the control away from you….”
Held on the wall by invisible handcuffs, she didn’t care whether her imagination provided this fantasy or if a ghost toyed with her body. Wet, throbbing need between her legs demanded she hang on his every word.
The voice came from the air next to her ear. “Now I have nothing to lose.”

Interview ~ Cate Masters ~ Spotlight ~ Betting it All ~ Cinderella Dreams

CateMasters2-24-LRBeverly and Tamara: Welcome to SSLY Cate. Thanks so much for joining us today. So first why don’t you tell us a little about yourself?

Thanks so much for having me here! You better get a coffee – my life story might put you to sleep! I’m a stay-at-home grandmom. (Empty nest? What’s that? Lol) My two grandboys, now 5 and 3, came to live with us two and a half years ago. Total chaos ensued, and I’m loving it. Though many days, I need a few extra cups of coffee myself to keep up with them! Nights and weekends, I squeeze in writing time.

Tamara: *sipping slowly* What do you HAVE to have when you are writing?

Hot black tea keeps me going (though as noted below, I tend to switch to coffee at some point). Other than that, if hubby didn’t poke his head in and ask if I wanted lunch, I might not get any other sustenance, lol.

Beverly: *handing cup to Cate* We always have the brew handy! When did you start to write and who influenced you?

Geez. Eons ago. Early influences included Ray Bradbury, H.P. Lovecraft (I know, why am I not writing scifi?) and I couldn’t get enough of Tolkien. I still have those copies of The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit from when I was 13. (Yes, they’re antiques now!)

Tamara: What do you think are the qualities that make up a “hero”?

Excellent question. To me, a hero is selfless and doesn’t hesitate to throw himself into a situation to save another, regardless of personal risk. In relationships, he’s giving and kind, but strong enough to know his mind and challenge the heroine to be better.

Beverly: Can you describe your favorite character? And which of your books is he/she in? How do you come up with your characters?

Oh I’m so terrible at choosing favorites! I have a favorite type of character – flawed, damaged, who doesn’t think him/herself worthy of redemption so it’s all the sweeter when they find it. Quite a few of my books have such characters – most recently, Bruno in Cursed, Charmed and Claimed (The Vitruvian Man series), Death in Death Is A Bitch, and the heroine in Dead to Rights are some.
Every story brings me characters in a different way. Some, I have a strong sense about them immediately. Others, I have to dig deeper. For all, I sketch out a background history, their family and friends, their personality traits – anything that will help me to know them, what motivates them, so that I can write from their POV as if I were them.

Tamara: What are the hardest scenes for you to write? Suspense? Sex? Dialogue? And why?

Suspense isn’t my usual thing, so when a scene calls for it, I do have some difficulty. I’ve been told my dialogue’s realistic, and so far, no complaints about sex scenes (yay!).

Beverly: What is your favorite scene in your favorite book?

In another author’s book, it might be the scene in Practical Magic when witch Sally Owens realizes the guy she’s falling for (who happens to be the sheriff who’s come to solve the murder of her sister’s boyfriend) has all the attributes she wished for in her perfect man, and then has to decide whether she has fallen under her own magic, or if she really loves him.

I love all my books, so it’s harder to choose just one scene. In Betting It All, I fell in love with Mac all over again when he stood on the California shore and realized an earthquake was destroying San Francisco – his sole thought was to find Norah and rescue her. My kind of hero!

Tamara: Who would you choose as your “book boyfriend/girlfriend”? From what book? Author?

He’s not exactly a book boyfriend, but Dean Koontz’ Odd Thomas is brilliant. He’s an ordinary guy (or so he thinks) constantly confronted with dangerous, terrifying situations but he never hesitates to do what’s right.

Beverly: What is the kinkiest thing you’ve ever done? Or would like to? What? We are all about the love!

There’s a scene in one of my books that isn’t um, fiction, lol. It involves the hero and heroine on a motorcycle. Yeah, when hubby and I were much younger!

Tamara: *high fives Cate* What are your favorite types of heroines? Do you like the damsel in distress who needs saving or the kick-ass variety? Why?

I love intelligent, feisty heroines. If they kick ass for a good reason, great.

Beverly: What was your worst date ever?

Oh, easy! When I was a teenager, my friends set me up with a guy. Without telling me. I was surprised and flustered, and we were both too nervous to say much. I never saw him again, poor guy.

Tamara: If you were stranded on a desert island, what three things would you want to have with you? (You have food, water, shelter, all the necessities, so nothing mundane)

A solar-powered smart phone so I can read, stream Pandora tunes and talk to my loved ones. A solar-powered laptop with satellite Internet so I can write. And a lifetime supply of bug repellant is essential – I might as well have “All You Can Eat Bug Buffet” stamped on me. They can’t get enough.

Beverly: LOL! What is your “guilty pleasure”?

These days, sleep feels like one, lol.

Tamara: I hear you there! What dream or goals have you yet to realize?

The USA Today/NY Times bestseller thing’s still on the bucket list.

Beverly: What was your most embarrassing moment or the craziest thing you’ve done? C’mon dish!

Hard to say. Maybe marrying my hubby after only knowing him for six months? I wouldn’t recommend it, but it did work out for us. We’ll celebrate our 36th anniversary this November.

Tamara: Congratulations! My DH and I hit 30 and Bev and Ed ate closing in on 25. If you were a color what would you be and why?

Blue – I love every shade, from baby blue to indigo. I find it calming (something I’ve learned to treasure these past few years, lol)

Beverly: How do you know you’re in love?

That floaty, tingly feeling that goes along with not being able to stop thinking about him, missing him.

Tamara and Beverly: Okay. We are SSLY so we have to ask. Who loves you?

My family and friends. Hopefully readers. 🙂

Now for some quick fun questions:

Boxers or briefs? Commando! 🙂
Coffee or Tea? Both. I start out with tea and then switch to coffee.
Tall, dark and handsome or Blond and buff? I should say blond and buff because it describes my hubby, but more often I’m attracted to the TDH type. Guess it depends on the package deal!
Hairy chest or smooth? I do like hubby’s hairy chest.
Chocolate or Vanilla? Mocha. 🙂
Kinky or Sweet? I lean more toward sweet but am not opposed to kink.
Fast or slow? Both have their upsides, lol
Public or private? Private
Top or bottom? I am all about the variety, lol

Enjoy the following excerpt for Cinderella Dreams:

A deep voice behind Ray said, “Hey, Gen.”
Matt. The next wave of emotion sent me reeling. I might have drowned in that wave, but the sight of him riveted me. The best man, taller than the groom by two inches. Slimmer by a few inches, too. His hazel eyes sparkled, and angels might have sung as he aimed his dazzling smile at me. I had to remind myself to breathe.
“Hey, you’re back.” Oh, witty greeting. Way to state the obvious. Better than gushing how wonderful it was to see him, how much I’d missed him and feared he’d never return. Now there he stood, hotter than Bon Jovi, and me his rabid fan.
Something nagged at me; I’d meant to tell him…what? All I could do was stand and stare more pathetic than a teenage girl high on her first hormone rush. What the hell had come over me today?
Matt locked his gaze on me. “Good to see you.” A throw-away phrase people tossed out to make conversation, but he said it with such feeling, the emotions reverberated through me. My hand went to my stomach, now performing Olympian gymnastics to rival Mary Lou Retton’s floor routine.
“You, too. So good.” Wow, I couldn’t believe I said it out loud, but I meant it. Matt had moved away a year earlier. When Ray broke up with me, it had been a double tragedy. Matt and I were buds, though we indulged in occasional flirtations. Harmless, mostly. Except for the night we split a six pack waiting for Ray to show up, and we shared something better—a kiss. One incredible, mind-blowing kiss, the kind that starts off slow and builds to the intensity of a hurricane. It turned my world upside down, but I begged him not to say a word to Ray. Then Matt was gone, and soon after, Ray dropped the breakup bomb on me.
Ray grabbed his sleeve. “We need to get in place. It’s almost time.”
“Calm down,” Matt told him, shooting me a glance as they stepped up on the altar. A worried look that said he wanted to be sure I was okay.
It sent a tingle through my nerves, but the blare of the organ playing the “Wedding March” erased it. Time to get to work, but I couldn’t shake the euphoria since Matt arrived.
Taking a deep breath, I pointed my camera at the six guys lined up, waiting for their pretty maids all in a row. Except Matt, who still watched me with a gaze so focused, it seemed to reach right through the telephoto lens. Without thinking, I clicked the shutter, a picture I’d keep for myself. Not that I’d need it. Already, his image had seared into my memory.

Enjoy the following excerpt for Sunset Heat:

“I had it bad for you.”
“So, what’s your wish now?”
If she leaned toward him, turned just enough, maybe he’d kiss her. Did she have the nerve? What would he think of her advance?
She closed her eyes, relishing the silky way he spoke her name. “Hmm?”
“Your wish. You’re going to enter the drawing the charity is having, right?”
“I can’t say or it won’t come true,” she murmured. Just move your face toward his. Do it! Though her inner diva cheered her on, she couldn’t.
“A superstition for shooting stars and birthday candles.”
“So? I don’t want to take chances.” Yes you do, her inner cheerleader chided.
He brushed his cheek against hers. Warm breath caressed her ear. Restless throbs of desire pulsed in her veins. Sexual excitement curled in her womb. It’d been quite some time since feeling those particular sensations. Who’d I do it with last? Oh, the guy in the off-Broadway showing of West Side Story. Antonio something or other. She’d almost told him she loved him, but his ex-girlfriend came back into the picture, which snipped her out of it.
Could Zach be her one? Even after all this time and despite their difficulties? Back when she’d helped him in high school, she’d wanted him and would have given him her all. She didn’t feel any different now. Turning her face toward his finally, she prepared for the first of what she hoped would be many kisses. None came. He wasn’t as close as she thought. Seana stared into his eyes, becoming lost in their depths.
“Yes?” She breathed in his spicy, clean scent, wanting to nibble on the muscle stretching from his neck into the top of his white dress shirt.
“Tell me more about the tutoring room.”
“Why? Interested in playing out my fantasy?”
Zach rubbed her knee. His touch seared her skin under her black sequined dress. “But we’re not in a school. There are no classrooms to use.”
The scenario she’d envisioned as a young adult awaited her next move. If there’s ever a time to be bold and spontaneous, it’s now. Quit stalling and take the leap. Feeling naughty and way too frisky to miss the opportunity, she drew circles on his leg with her fingertip. “We can improvise by going up to your room or mine and pretending we’re in a classroom.”
Seconds clicked by. Zach didn’t say a word. Wasn’t he interested? Her palms became clammy. I can’t be rejected again.

“What are you lookin’ at?” Wyn leaned over the side of his chair. “You? A dating service?”
He chuckled, his cheeks warming. “No. I just heard a woman mention it when I escaped through her room. She’d apparently used this service and was waiting for her date when I barged in.”
His friend stood behind him, clasping his shoulder. “I’m surprised you didn’t take advantage of the situation.”
“Didn’t have a chance.” Yet, he wouldn’t have. He refused to pretend to be someone else. A woman had to want him for him. He would no longer hide what he was.
“You should give it a try.”
The comment came like a kick to the nuts. Spinning around in his chair, he faced Wyn. “You’ve got to be joking. This woman sets people up on a one-night stand, but according to her clients, more often than not, the relationship lasts well beyond one night.”
“Exactly. You’ve spent all this time zooming around space, searching for someone. I think it’s about time you stop to find her.”
He clenched the arms of the chair. “In case you haven’t noticed, I’m fully capable of finding my own dates.”
“C’mon. The women you find are willing to fuck anyone who asks. It’s all a ruse as you search for the one woman you’re pining over.”
“You think I’m looking for love? Yeah, right.” That ship had sailed a long time ago. Best friend or not, Wyn had pushed the boundaries of their camaraderie. Nate rose to his feet and shoved past him. “Stay out of my business.”
“If I did, you’d be dead by now,” Wyn shouted after him.
Nate slammed the door to his cubby behind him and pounded his fist against the wall. The fucker was right, Nate would have been killed numerous times if Wyn hadn’t come to his rescue. And perhaps he was lonely, always yearning to run into his one true love. But she resided on Earth, a place he could never return. He stripped off his pants and slumped onto his cot. The darkness helped to soothe his anger.
He thought of 1Night Stand. Am I ready to settle down? Is there really another woman out there for me? Madame Eve guaranteed one night. He huffed out a breath. No harm in trying. Yes, as soon as Wyn retired to his bunk, Nate would fill out the questionnaire.
What would happen after that? He’d let fate decide.

“I am a man who is yours tonight, Lucy.” He walked toward her with arms out from his sides, exposing his nudity. “Draw on the power within you. Look at me. Overcome your apprehension of men. Have I not shown you gentleness?”
She nodded and approached him while tugging the strap of her sundress.
“Keep your dress on. Take it off when you are ready. This night is about you. Explore my body, learn from it, and take whatever you want. You are in control.”
He led her to the center of the blanket and faced her. She stood still with her fingertips resting on his waist. Cupping her face, he lost himself in her eyes.
“I am your instrument to use tonight. Open yourself up and delve into this opportunity I offer. I am yours to command. Do you understand what I’m saying?”
“I think so.” She considered his offer. “What do I do?”
“Follow your feminine intuition.” He couldn’t hold back a chuckle. “Touch me, tickle me, beat me, kiss me, bite me, lick me, suck me…whatever you want. Take whatever you need from me to strengthen you.”
In the moonlight, an endearing, innocent blush spread across her face. Amazing how a woman who lived her life in fear caused by abuse could be so naive of her own sensual power. If she knew her potential, she could bring him to his knees.

Beverly and Tamara: Welcome to SSLY. Thanks so much for joining us today Mary.

Beverly: *reading excerpt, fanning self* Oh, please let me…

Tamara: *elbows Beverly* What do you HAVE to have when you are writing?

CHOCOLATE!!! Sometimes a glass of wine as well. I think chocolate wine was created just for me.
Beverly: That stuff is delicious! *pours three glasses* When did you start to write, who influenced you?

Oh, that’s a story! When I was 16 my bff & I spent the summer with friends of my parents. Mr & Mrs. Godfrey. He was a poet and she was a teacher. During times when we were “bored” they encouraged us to make up stories about the people we saw around us. We had fun and got pretty good doing it. One day we went to London (this was the prime punk years) and we saw the hottest teen punk EVER!!! He said something to us that we couldn’t understand, smiled and gave us a jaunty salute as he got off the train. We wrote a huge story in our bedroom that night of an American girl falling in love with a British punk. Fast forward to 1999, dearest hubby gave me a gift of a 1980’s music collection on CD. One of the songs brought back some wonderful memories and after some searching I found the original story we wrote. I called my bff (who was now an editor) and told her my ideas of changing our little tale. She said, “Run with it.” And I did. In May 2008, the novel Painted Soul published and was followed by two others as well as all my novelettes.

Tamara: What do you think are the qualities that make up a “hero”?

He has to be HOT. Strong in character but with a weakness to make him real. I love dark secrets lurking about and hidden fears. He needs to appreciate chocolate, especially when dripping on his lady then licking it off. Did I say he has to be hot?

Beverly: Can you describe your favorite character? And which of your books is he/she in? How do you come up with your characters?

It’s hard to say if I have a favorite. It’s like choosing a favorite child; like my kids each character has a part of me in them. They all have a sensual, spiritual and artist side to them. My characters usually come alive from photos I see. For instance, after writing Crow Magic, my editor sent a photo of a yummy Native American saying we should have put him on the cover of CM. I said no, he looked more like a hawk or an eagle. Then BAM… three more characters appeared. Yes, readers will see them in books already under progress for the Decadent 1 Night Stand series.

Tamara: What are the hardest scenes for you to write? Suspense? Sex? Dialogue? And why?

I think the hardest scenes to write are sex scenes. Each character has his/her ways of kissing, touching, making love. Just like each boy or girl you’ve ever been with has never been the same. I try to give each character his/her own “thing” for each book. The sexual relations between characters in one book will be different in another book. I made one fella into voyeurism, while another was into Karma Sutra, one touches more while another talks too much.

Yes, I purchase books sex, BDSM, positions, spirituality, etc. I love it when I’ve been writing too long hubby interrupts me and he’s holding a book asking if I’d like to take a break to do some research.

Beverly: What is your favorite scene in your favorite book?

Oh that’s easy. My characters in Handcuffs & Silk were a Las Vegas cop and a New York Lawyer. I love it when my lady cop handcuffs him to the bed and says, “Anything you say, can and will be used against you for my pleasure.” I did my happy dance after writing it. Squeee!
However, I’m working on a follow up book to Crow Magic and I’ve been doing a couple happy dances. The characters are so witty. Sooo, we shall see.

Tamara: Who would you choose as your “book boyfriend/girlfriend”? From what book? Author?

That would be Vikar Sigurdsson from Kiss of Pride, Deadly Angels Book #1 by Sandra Hill. A Viking Vampire Angel…LOVE it! A hot guy in black leather with wings… oh you got me baby!

Beverly: What is the kinkiest thing you’ve ever done? Or would like to? What? We are all about the love! Well, maybe just a little bit of kink too! 😉

Hubby would be upset if I told too much. Handcuffs, whipping cream, and chocolate… need I say more?
*Yells to hubby, “Honey, run to the store and pick up some whipping cream!”

Tamara: What are your favorite types of heroines? Do you like the damsel in distress who needs saving or the kick-ass variety? Why?

I don’t like the wimpy, “Send me a hero to save me & make my life complete.” OH, WAAAA! I appreciate a heroine who can be the kick-ass variety but has a weakness or something deeper she needs to be “saved” from. Maybe the hero is the only person who is sensitive to know what it really is and what she truly needs. In Handcuffs & Silk, she intimidated men and it took a special man to help her explore all the possibilities of making that work for her. In Crow Magic, because of her past she was afraid to release her inner goddess.

Beverly: oooh inner goddess. I like that. What was your worst date ever?

I was an art major in college and went out with a fellow artist. He told me he didn’t like girls who wore nail polish. I took myself and purple nails out of the movie theater. Never gave him the time of day again.

Tamara: If you were stranded on a desert island, what three things would you want to have with you? (You have food, water, shelter, all the necessities, so nothing mundane)

1. Not to sound mundane, I’d want my hubby with me. He was a scout master for years and can do a lot of things. Some he didn’t master in the scouts tho. Heh, heh.
2. Something magical item to give me unlimited supply of chocolate.
3. Edible suntan lotion. Is there such a thing?

Beverly: What is your “guilty pleasure”?

Chocolate martinis made with Godiva Chocolate. I reserve them for when I’m with friends at writer conventions. But let’s not mention the package of Hersey Dark Chocolate Chips hidden in my bathroom.

Tamara: *turns to Beverly* We so have to party err, go to a convention, with Mary! What dream or goals have you yet to realize?

I want to bump Nora Roberts out of the Best Seller list. No offense Nora – love you!

Beverly: Goals are good! 😀 What was your most embarrassing moment or the craziest thing you’ve done? C’mon dish!

I was on a date at Pizza Hut and excused myself to use the ladies room. This was back in the day when we wore poufy mini skirts and I had the cutest outfit. Anyways, after using the restroom and walking across the ENTIRE restaurant, I reached behind me to smooth out my skirt to find it had been stuck in my panties! I almost died!!!! At least I had nice panties on. LOL Moral of the story – don’t wear panties.

Beverly: *chokes and sprays out chocolate wine while laughing* Oops, sorry Mary!

Tamara: If you were a color what would you be and why?

Black is my favorite color. As a student of color theory I learned Black is the result of all colors. Much like how I am the result of my heritage, my environment, etc. Am I getting too deep? Ok… sterling silver looks amazing against black. Dark chocolate is sort of black.

Beverly: How do you know you’re in love?

Wow, now that’s heavy. Let’s see, I’ve been married for 22 years and still haven’t truly figured it out. LOL I’d describe the feeling like a warm fuzzy all over… like warm chocolate pouring down your spine. Yeah….

Tamara and Beverly: Okay. We are SSLY so we have to ask. Who loves you?

My mommy! She’s 85yrs old and my biggest fan! I wouldn’t be here in my life without her. Yes, hubby & the boys do… they love to drive me crazy. *Son #1 yells, “You were already crazy!” Gotta love the men in my life.

Now for some quick fun questions:

Boxers or briefs? Boxers, unless they are those black boxer briefs Jockey makes. They are soooo soft.
Coffee or Tea? Tea, the exception is coffee with a shot of Baileys.
Tall, dark and handsome or Blond and buff? Tall, dark and handsome. Oh, wait… hubby is blonde and buff, but I can’t see past his pilot uniform. Yummy!
Hairy chest or smooth? Smooth.
Chocolate or Vanilla? Chocolate. Vanilla is blah!
Kinky or Sweet? If I tie him up and pour chocolate sauce all over him, isn’t that both?
Fast or slow? Depends on if the kids are home.
Public or private? Private. But does doing it in the backyard hammock count?
Top or bottom? Depends if the silk scarves are available.

Thank you ladies for having me today. I think it’s time to enjoy something chocolaty and decadent. I’m pretty suave in the kitchen and I promise it will put smiles on your faces. Are you with me?

Tamara: You better believe it!
Beverly: I’ll grab the wine!

Blog Tour ~ Review ~ Melody’s Wolf

MC_MelodysWolf_SM Melody’s Wolf
By Mina Carter

Melody’s love life is in a bit of a dry spell…for the last two years. Content tracking down archaeological evidence of werewolf packs, she spends her time wearing wellingtons and covered in mud rather than looking for a date. Knowing her worried brother isn’t above arranging a kidnapping to get her to go on a date, she agrees to a match with 1Night Stand, figuring Madame Eve has to be a better matchmaker than her beloved brother.

Money, fame, looks—rock star and werewolf Aaron Rixx has it all, except the one thing that truly matters…love. Yearning for a woman to see him for who he is, he lets Madame Eve make all the arrangements. No matter where he goes, as the lead singer of the world famous band, Lyric Hounds, he’s always recognized…so all he expects is a night of hot sex and a quiet weekend with his music.

He never anticipates Madame Eve might find the one woman on the planet who doesn’t recognise him on sight…or the one he and his wolf identify instantly as their mate. Will one night be enough for him to convince Melody she’s his forever?

About The Author:
Mina was born and raised in the East Farthing of Middle Earth (otherwise known as the Midlands, England) and spend her childhood learning all the sorts of things generally required of a professional adventurer. Able to ride, box, shoot, make and read maps, make chainmail and use a broadsword (with varying degrees of efficiency) she was disgusted to find that adventuring is not considered a suitable occupation these days.
So, instead of slaying dragons and hunting vampires and the like, Mina spends her days writing about hot shifters, government conspiracies and vampire lords with more than their fair share of RAWR. Turns out wanna-be adventurers have quite the turn of imagination after all…
(But she keeps that sword sharp, just in case the writing career is just a dream and she really *is* an adventurer.)

Darkness had begun to fall, which meant her date had been cooling his heels for almost an hour….
Rixx. Why did that name seem familiar? The thought slid away as she headed to the double doors and threw them open.
The warm evening air whispered over her skin like a lover’s caress. The thought brought her back to sex again, and heat spread over her cheeks. Schooling her emotions, she fought the instinct to turn and run, to hide in her room under the duvet until morning, rather than have sex with a stranger. After all, that’s what the night was all about, wasn’t it? A one-night stand. But she had to admit, she was well overdue for some action between the sheets.

Her heels clicked on the flagstones, and she whistled a low note between her teeth as the balcony widened into a large seating area. Holy crap, is that a hot tub?

There wasn’t time to gawp. A figure detached itself from the shadows by one of the huge gargoyles dotting the wall. She hadn’t done more than glance at the profile of her date, preferring to make her own decision on the guy when she met him. Any report she read, even the briefest profile, could taint that first meeting. But, even if she had had an idea of the man she’d come there to meet, of what to expect, he certainly wasn’t it. Her jaw dropped as the moon broke overhead and she got her first good look at him.

He appeared to have stepped right from the glossy pages of Rock’n’Roll magazine. Tall and wiry, he had long black hair loose about his shoulders, and his unbuttoned shirt revealed a toned chest and a ripped six pack. Black pants rode low on his hips, far enough that one slip would reveal where the dark line of hair down the centre of his hard stomach led. The tattoos scrawled over his skin, heavy silver rings, bracelets and a large skull belt buckle completed the macho bad boy look. Almost…. She blinked, leaned closer and frowned.

“Are you wearing eyeliner?”

As soon as the words were out of her mouth, she wanted to take them back. He turned his head to flick the hair over his shoulder, and the light caught his eyes, the telltale shimmer clueing her in.

Her date not only channelled enough inner bad boy for a whole fricking town full of boys, but he was a werewolf to boot. Wait—did that make him a bad boy or a bad dog?

Beverly’s Review:
Calling all werewolf rock groupies! Well, Aaron didn’t want that. He wanted a woman who didn’t know what he did. Well he got what he wanted! Melody thought Aaron looked a bit familiar but she couldn’t place him. Just some wannabe rock star is what Melody thought, but boy oh boy did he look good in those tight leather pants!
Then she noticed his makeup! It had me cracking up! (see excerpt above) while he was stunned scenting his mate.
Melody’s Mate was a hot enjoyable read. I love a story that makes me laugh. Sensual and fiery, the mix in this 1Night Stand of humor and passion left me with a smile on my face and needing a cold splash of water!
