Next Time Love Comes- Linda L Picl

nextTimeLoveComes

*************BLURB*************

Sometimes marriage isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. Sometimes you have to take your own life in your hands and change it for the better.

Elizabeth Peters knows this and when she meets Aiden Roberts and his handicapped child she realizes she’ll have a fight ahead of her if she wants this man in her life.
***Excerpt***

As Aiden watched, he could see she enjoyed this immensely. How could someone deny her this pleasure and not want to share it with her.

He couldnt help but grin, she was so sweet with her sun kissed cheeks and bright smile. She sat there without a care in the world. At least that was how it appeared.

Not able to resist another minute, he put his hand across the table and nodded toward the dance floor. He had to dance with her now, to feel her in his arms if only for this one dance on this one incredible evening.

She shook her head yelling, No I cant dance like that.

The crowd was doing a country line dance. They knew every move and turn, dancing perfectly in sync with the music as if they were a professional dance troupe. He squeezed her hand, insisting she get up. She was still protesting as he led her to the one place on the shiny hardwood dance floor where there was room to move. Giggling, she took his hand and held on for dear life. Just as they started to do the line dance, the band switched to a ballad.

She whispered in his ear, Do you think they did that just for us?
He pulled her close to him. I hope so. Its as perfect as you are.
While he had her in his powerful arms, she could feel his muscles through his neat and proper dress

shirt, knowing there was nothing neat or proper about the way he made her feel. He was warm and safe and danced beautifully. Knowing all the moves, he managed to get her to master them also. As he guided her around the dance floor, all her pain disappeared. It was just the two of them and at that moment, nothing else mattered.

****Excerpt****

She got up and slowly moved toward him. Her chest tightened with each step. As she approached him and admired his broad shoulders, it dawned on her he could be a candidate for People’s sexiest man alive. Control yourself.
“I’m happy here,” she admitted. “I love it when the morning light shines on the water and it mimics fine pieces of crystal.”
Rob slowly approached her. His gaze fixed on her, sent shivers from head to toe. Afraid of what might happen next, she turned away. They were too close for comfort. An electric energy surged between them. Before she could stop him, Rob reached for her and pulled her up against his chest. “You’re an amazing woman, Savannah.” His lips met hers and he cradled her head in his hands as if she was a precious jewel. It all happened so quickly, she didn’t have time to react. The warmth of his touch sent waves of heat down her stomach and in between her legs as the world stood still. When Rob’s hands moved slowly across her back, it took her to a level of arousal she never expected. She found herself spellbound by the feel of his rock hard body pressed up against her chest. All of the emotions she’d kept inside emerged when Rob held her tight. When they finally parted, she stood frozen in shock with her heart pounding and her ears ringing.
His expression made him look as if he broke the law with his eyes practically popping out of his head. He quickly took a step back. “I don’t know what to say. I’m so sorry for my rude behavior.”
“You weren’t rude. I didn’t stop you.”

*****Excerpt*****

Spread your legs a little further,” he whispered into her ear. “Yes, like that.”
Micah’s hand slowly moved up and down her thigh, before tying her ankles down to the footboard with her wrists already bound to the headboard. “Please, I want this,” she begged. “I know you do, once you tell me all of your secrets, we can have a lot of fun together.” His voice sounded cold. So cold. He began to kiss her calf, moving up her leg. Her back began to arch as he teased her clit with his tongue. She cried out, feeling so close to losing herself. “I don’t know what secrets you want to know,” she moaned. “I saw what you did at the coffee shop, the thunder, it’s not just a coincidence. I know your secrets, Emma. But you need to tell me what you know.” “I don’t know!” “Emma, I want to be with you. We can be amazing together, but you have to admit what you are.” “What am I?” she moaned. “A witch.”

***Excerpt***

“And what is it you really want?” Sam asked, turning her head around to look at him. “I want someone I can laugh with. I want a woman who I can sit on a park bench and not speak, but still be comfortable with. I want a woman who wants me for who I am, not for what I can give her. I want a woman who can be my friend as well as my lover. I want a woman who will stand in the rain with me just because it’s there and not worry about her makeup or her hair. I want a woman who’s strong, but who can still lean on me. I want to look forward to going home because I know that she’s there. I want a woman I can take care of. Who will let me pamper her just because I want to.” Alex took a deep breath and looked down at Sammi. “I want a companion. I want someone to call my own and a woman who can call me hers.” Alex saw a tear fall from Sammi’s eye. He reached up with his finger to brush it away. “I want this,” he said softly and dipped his head to her lips. Alex’s hand went to the back of Sam’s neck and tightened, drawing her to him. His lips moved on hers. Sam let out a short moan.

Susan Stoker currently lives in Texas, but over the last fourteen years has also lived in Missouri, California, Colorado, and Indiana. She met the love of her life on “Hotmail classified” before such a thing as online dating and sites like match.com even existed! Being the spouse of an Enlisted Army man was an experience, and spending four years apart while he was stationed in Korea and then sent to a different State then she was living was not fun. But now that he’s retired HE gets to follow HER around the country! Susan and her husband are passionate about adopting dogs from rescue groups and shelters. They’ve had a total of nine “rescued” dogs in their brief 14 year marriage. Mainly basset hounds and bloodhounds, but they’ve recently branched out and adopted a basset/terrier mix. As a type A person, Susan has two master’s degrees and her PhD, but tells people that all having a PhD means is that she can write really long papers. She’s been reading romances since middle school, even once crossing out all the names in a book and changing them to her own and to the name of her crush. She’s been writing scenes for years, thinking about what she likes, and recently tried stringing the scenes into a book. Her first series, Beyond Reality, will be a trilogy, with all three books in the series having HEAs. Happy Reading!

***Excerpt***
Oh my God, when that man walked in I swear I thought my knees were going to collapse under me. He was easily six foot, with dark brown hair and chocolate brown eyes, wearing a tight-ass pair of wrangler jeans and a white t-shirt which hugged his body enough for me to know he was seriously ripped. I could see a tattoo peeking out of the edge of his sleeve, but couldn’t fully make out what it was. The hottie wore a cowboy hat which he immediately removed when he started talking to me. The second he was out the door, I immediately ran to the back to find Presley. Presley and I have been friends our entire lives, neither one of us came from a family who had much of anything and it was always our dream to own a bakery together. So, as soon as we graduated high school we enrolled in The International Culinary School at The Art Institute of Dallas, working two jobs each so we could have enough money for everything we needed to start our business. The building was given to me by my dad’s friend Jamie. He had owned it as long as I could remember, but had never used it for anything. We’d been open about a year now and business was thriving for us. “Pres! Where the hell are you!” I was hollering as I walked all through the back looking for her. As I headed toward our office I heard her hang up the phone. “Hey, Tan, I’m in here” I went in and plopped down at my desk which sat next to hers. “Okay, ummm, Tan…what the hell? You look love struck,” she said laughing. I couldn’t help but smile at her. “Love struck, no, but totally slobbering on myself, yes,” I laughed as I tossed her the slip I’d made for the sweets Grayson had ordered. “What the hell, Tan?? Almost three thousand people and you’re not charging him?” I sat up in my chair a little straighter. “Pres, he runs the Ride for a Cure organization. He does amazing things for children. The least we can do to give back is make some damn sweets.” She leaned back in her chair giving me her uh-huh look. “Are you doing this for that reason, Tanley West, or are you doing it because he’s sexy?” She let out a giggle. “How dare you insinuate I would do that? I mean, yea, he’s beyond sexy. He is a serious sexy all on his own.” I laughed, but continued to convince my partner that what I’d done was the right thing to do. “I’ve heard of his organization before and it really is amazing what he does for people. So, I want to give back in a way, ya know?” I leaned forward, looking at my friend, giving her my most serious stare. “Plus I love horses, you know that, and I’ll do whatever I can to help a child, especially a special needs child have the opportunity to get to experience such an amazing animal.” Presley just smiled over at me indulgently. “Well, I’m glad we can help in some way, but I’m so leaving it up to you to tell the employees what they have to look forward to next week.” I laughed as I stood up to head out to the bakery. “Yea, you’re so right. They’re going to hate my ass.” Presley nodded her head and grinned as she walked out of the office. “Yep, they sure are.”

*****Excerpt*****

Stepping out of the official cruiser, hand resting lightly on his weapon which was holstered at his hip, Kade walked to the open driver’s side window. Looking into the car, he saw her. She was bent over the steering wheel, her long chestnut colored hair pulled back with a clip.

“Ma’am, is everything all right?” She turned her head and his breath caught in his throat. A beautiful face, streaked with tears squeezed his heart. Without thinking, he abandoned all of his years of training. Without concern for his own safety, he yanked open the door. Squatting down beside the car and balancing on the balls of his feet, Kade spoke to her. “Sweetheart, what’s wrong? Are you hurt? Did you have an accident?”

Turning her head instead of raising it, Krista looked into the greenest eyes she’d ever seen. They were filled with concern. For her? No, she thought, they can’t be. He didn’t even know her. “What did you say? What accident?” Sitting up, she tried to answer and the whole ordeal came back into her mind full force. The nausea hit and this time it wasn’t going to pass. She was going to be sick.

“Ohno!” she exclaimed, just before she covered her mouth with one hand and scrambled to get out of the car, knocking him out of her way. As she ran around the car, Krista made it to the grassy right-of-way just as she began heaving. Her whole body was shaking. The weakness brought her to her knees. When she finally finished, she scooted back against the back car tire, drew up her knees which were now throbbing with pain, and laid her head down on them.

“It never affected me this fast before,” Krista murmured to the big man as he knelt down beside her. Her eyes swept over him. Oh, crap! He was a cop! She was so not up for this. With a sigh of resignation, she held out her wrists, waiting for him to put the handcuffs on and arrest her.

Kade looked at her outreached arms and then at her pale face. Too pale. “What are you doing?” “Aren’t you going to arrest me?”
“Why would I do that?”
he questioned, confused.
“Well, because I kinda’ knocked you on your booty and you’re a cop. Isn’t that like assault

on a police officer or something?” Her voice was weak and she sounded resigned. “Booty?” He smirked. “No, I’m not going to arrest you.”
