Introduce yourself. What book are you from? Are you the hero, heroine, villain?
Hi, there. Take a seat at the bar, let me get ya a drink. What do ya want? A Sweet Irish Kiss maybe? Or something a little bit frisky for the Irish holiday? Name your poison.
Devlin sets about getting your drink ready. He shakes and stirs, and flips some bottles. Pours out a tasty treat and slides it to you. It’s green. And he pops a shamrock cocktail stick in for that extra special touch.
Happy St. Patrick’s Day!
Name’s Devlin Kinney and I’m from JoAnne Kenrick’s Irish Kisses series. Reckon I’m in all those books, so I am. I think she intended me ta be just a secondary character. But readers asked for more of me. So more of me ya got! The first Irish Kisses story centered around me, erm, love life, is SHAMROCKED. And now me and Liz are back with a follow up story in MARRY ME, I”M IRISH, which is a FREE story! And releasing for this St.Pat’s Day. I finally pop the question to me lass and whisk her away to me home country, Belfast, Ireland. But she had other ideas about what she wanted. Yikes!
Devlin throws a bar towel over his shoulder and swaggers to the jukebox, pops in a coin and selects a tune. A Mumford and Son’s tune fills the air.
How did you come to your author’s attention?
Well, now, I just sneaked onto the pages of her first Irish Kisses book SWEET IRISH KISS as the hero’s best friend. I sure showed her. Me silver tongue and wild Irish ways won her over. Had her spitting coffee so I hear. My comments can be a bit shocking at times. But that’s why I’m loved, I reckon.
Did you give your author a hard time when she was writing your story?
He saunters back to the bar and pats you on the shoulder.
Me? A hard time? Hardly. I made her laugh. Made her cry. Probably made her squirm and flush, too. Mwahaha. JoAnne loves me. Or is it that she loves me drinks I make for Bell’s Irish Pub? Could be that. Either way, she’s glad I’m around.
What do you do for a living?
I entertain, deary. A little of this, a little of that. And when I’m not mixing drinks or taking care of crowd control, I’m frontman for me Irish rock band SHAMROCKED.
Who is the love of your life?
Ya, of course! Bah, I’m jesting. It’s Liz. She’s a doll. And she’s famous, too, ya know. In a soap opera. That girls destined for stardom!
What was the first thing you noticed about her?
Hopping over the bar, Devlin grins.
Ya really want me ta tell the truth on that question? Or should I be polite?
I’ll be nice, JoAnne’s giving me digs. I noticed her sweet smile first. Honest, I did.
He leans in and whispers.
Her nicely rounded bum grabbed me attention first. Shush. Between us.
What’s your greatest fear?
That I’ll lose Liz. That and me hair falling out.
What’s your motto in life?
Running a hand through his messed up hair, he pauses then winks.
Just do it.
What’s the point in second guessing ya self on every step ya make in life?
How do the other characters in your book view you?
Reckon they think I have shares in Ann Summers (www.annsummers.com), an adult toy and lingerie store. I know they thought I was a bit of a ladies man. But truth be told, it’s all front as me lady Liz discovers in SHAMROCKED.
What do you think reader will find interesting about you?
Dunno. Perhaps that I was engaged before? And she was me childhood sweetheart. Funny how growing up changes a person, isn’t it? Oh and me favorite flavor of lub is mint. Fresh!
What is the kinkiest thing you’ve ever done?
First night I met Liz, I tied her up in Japanese silk ropes. I’ve done kinkier than that, but never on a first date. Great to meet a lass who has the same motto in life as me. Just do it!Charac
Will we be seeing you in future books?
In no more Irish Kisses books, I’m afraid. JoAnne closed the doors to Bell’s Irish Pub with book five, MARRY ME, I’M IRISH. But I’m whispering sweet nothings in her ear, hoping for a spin-off series set in Belfast.
What makes you happy?
Great friends. And the love of me life.
What makes you mad?
Shaun’s Ex wife. She knows all me buttons. Knows everyone’s buttons. Watch out for that one.
Life couldn’t be more perfect. Liz Grant has it all; a starring role in a major motion picture, a fabulous apartment central-London, and a great boyfriend who knows how to mix a mean cocktail and make her come with a flick of a switch. He works for Bell’s Irish Pub, so she gets free drinks, too!
A surprise for St. Patrick’s day. There’s just one problem. Devlin Kinney wants to marry her. Like, now. And rip her away from her glamorous life. Why? So they can live happily ever after in a wee country cottage in the heart of Belfast, Ireland. What’s a city girl to do? He is Irish. And he does have a certain way with words. And vibrating toys. But does she love him enough to leave the comforts of England? And is there something behind his sudden proposal?
