Interview & Giveaway ~ Marissa Dobson ~ Alaskan Tigers

Tiger Time

Beverly and Tamara: Marissa, welcome to SSLY. Thanks so much for joining us today. So first why don’t you tell us a little about yourself?

There’s not a whole lot to tell…I was born and raised just outside of the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania area, and now resides about an hour from Washington, D.C. I’m married to the love of my life, Thomas, and we have two doggies. Max (cocker spaniel) and Dawne (a beagle mix) they are my writing buddy.

Tamara: What do you HAVE to have when you are writing?

My buddies…Max is normally curled up beside me and Dawne is normally at my feet. Oh and don’t forget the coffee. What writer is complete without their unlimited supply of coffee.

Beverly: When did you start to write?

I started writing at an early age. Always dreaming up stories, telling them to my baby sister. It wasn’t until I was in middle school when it became a passion of mine. I had a teacher that was very supportive, and inspired me to grow within my writing. I took some time away from it in my teenage years, but was always an avid reader.

Tamara: What do you think are the qualities that make up a “hero”?

He has to be everything the heroine needs (maybe things she doesn’t know she needs). I’m all about an strong, protective hero, and sexy enough to make a girl weak in the knees.

Beverly: Can you describe your favorite character? And which of your books is he/she in? How do you come up with your characters?

Asking an author to pick a favorite character is like asking a mother to pick her favorite child. They all hold a special part in my heart, but normally my favorite at the time is whichever one I’m working with at that time.
But with that being said I have to say that Tabitha and Ty from Tiger’s Heart (the first book in the Alaskan Tigers series) hold a little extra space in my heart. They were a couple I put aside for a little over a year, while I dealt with other things, but they wouldn’t let me forget about them. Finally after a lot of nagging, and sleepless nights I dove back into the story and finished it. Here we are with the third book due to come out very soon.

Tamara: What are the hardest scenes for you to write? Suspense? Sex? Dialogue? And why?

Sex…sex is always the hardest for me. I’m a sweeter writer by nature and adding in sex is where I feel it’s either two virgins going at it or sounds like it should be porn.

Beverly: LOL! What is the kinkiest thing you’ve ever done? Or would like to? What? We are all about the love!

Umm…sex on a ferris wheel. *blushes*

Beverly: OMG! Brave woman! I won’t even ride one let alone ride…urm, never mind!

Tamara: What are your favorite types of heroines? Do you like the damsel in distress who needs saving or the kick-ass variety? Why?

I need a combination of both. Each book has to have their own type of heroines. Sometimes damsels in distress are just what’s needed. But other times kick-ass is the way to go.

Beverly: What was your worst date ever?

A double with a friend who set me up with someone she knew. It was awkward.

Tamara: If you were stranded on a desert island, what three things would you want to have with you? (you have food, water, shelter, all the necessities, so nothing mundane)

I would want my laptop with an endless battery so I can continue writing, my dog Max to keep me company, and boxes of books.

Beverly: What is your “guilty pleasure”?

Chocolate

Tamara: What dream or goal have you yet to realize?

To have 50 books out there for my readers. But I’m sure that number will keep growing as I keep writing.

Tamara: If you were a color what would you be and why?

Blue…it’s calm and relaxing.

Beverly: Who has influenced how you perceive love? Why?

My Grandparents. They were so in love, and happy together.

Tamara and Beverly: Okay. We are SSLY so I have to ask. Who loves you?

Thomas (my soul mate)

Now for some quick fun questions:

Boxers or briefs? Boxers
Coffee or Tea? Coffee
Tall, dark and handsome or Blond and buff? Tall, dark and handsome
Hairy chest or smooth? Smooth
Chocolate or Vanilla? Neither, I’m more of a rocky road kind of girl
Kinky or Sweet? Are you telling me I can’t have both? 😉
Fast or slow? Depends on what we are talking about, and the mood
Public or private? Private
Top or bottom? Whatever the mood calls for, I’m easy that way.
