Tamara: Bev wait a minute. Are you really going to be asking yourself questions?
Beverly: Well, yeah. I figure we make the other authors go through it so why not me?
Tamara: Oookay. So, first, why don’t you tell us a little about yourself.
Well, I’m at that midpoint in life. I just hit the big 5-O (obviously I’m planning on reaching one hundred). Tammie laughs. Hey, it’s possible!
I have two charming adult children and I’m so happy I can finally say that! My husband has put up with me for almost twenty five years, twenty three of which has been in wedded bliss (did I really say that?). Well, we haven’t killed each other yet! *grins* We plan on repeating our vows for our twenty fifth anniversary at the chapel we were married in in Las Vegas. I’m so excited because this time we can be married by Elvis! My husband just shakes his head.
Tamara: What do you HAVE to have when you are writing?
QUIET! And I need to be alone.
Beverly: When did you start to write?
I’ve been writing since high school. We published a story and poetry magazine once a year for the creative writing club. We all knew we were totally awesome at that point! *wink* Right, Tamara?
Tamara: I am younger than you. Just remember that! What do you think are the qualities that make up a “hero”?
I LOVE a totally alpha male. I prefer my men with a take charge attitude and a protective personality and masterful in the bedroom. Or where ever the mood takes him. None of that crying or sensitive crap for me.
Beverly: Can you describe your favorite character? And which of your books is he/she in? How do you come up with your characters?
Well *rolling eyes* this is my debut book and I have two scrumptious hotties. Probably Tine as he is the dominant one.
These characters just popped into my head one night. I was up late and I had to get in front of the computer to put my ideas down. I stopped about four hours later and Dragons’ Mate was born. I had probably been watching one of those Sci Fi movies I love like Mega Croc or something.
Tamara: *shaking head* Only you. What are the hardest scenes for you to write? Suspense? Sex? Dialogue? And why?
Dialogue. It just seems stilted the first time I write it down. I have to keep going over and over the dialogue, even saying it out loud until I think it sounds right (that’s why I have to be alone!)
Beverly: What writer, if any, influenced how you write?
I would have to say all of them. I want my readers to get as caught up in my story as I do in theirs, to want more. I hate to see characters I love end to never see them again.
Tamara: Aren’t you finding this a little wierd?
Bev: *shaking head no*
Tamara: Fine. Who would you choose as your “book boyfriend”? From what book? Author?
OMG really? Okay, Hmmm. *thinking* (probably not a good idea to say Edward from Twilight). Okay, I know! Rafael De La Cruz from Dark Secret by Christine Feehan.
Tamara: Edward? I worry about you.
Beverly: What is the kinkiest thing you’ve ever done? Or would like to? What? We are all about the love!
ME? Nothing kinky about me 😀 Well, there was that pudding thing (check out our March 15 blog). And the gremlin thing (you’ll have to hunt past interviews for that one!). I won’t even go into how I ended up with scrape marks across my butt cheeks from the highway overpass. Nope, nothing kinky here.
Tamara: What are your favorite types of heroines? Do you like the damsel in distress who needs saving or the kick-ass variety? Why?
It all depends on the book. I tend to like the damsel in distress but as long as the hero is not a wimp it doesn’t really matter to me. I was totally addicted to Barbara Cartland as a teenager. I still will pick one up on occasion, but sometimes the hero needs a strong woman.
Beverly: What was your worst date ever?
Dates! I saw ET seven times the first two weeks it was out. Every guy I went out with wanted to see it. Not one asked if I wanted to see it. Ugh. At least they fed me. (yeah, I’m a slow learner!)
Tamara: If you were stranded on a desert island, what three things would you want to have with you? (you have food, water, shelter, all the necessities, so nothing mundane)
A solar charger, my laptop (cause it has itunes & kindle for PC), and a hot man! WAIT! You are considering chocolate as a necessity right? I’d need sun block cause I burn so bad. Maybe my P238 Sig Sauer to shoot down coconuts. A fishing pole. Beer is a necessity, right? No can do. I’d have to pack for this.
Tamara: You were stranded. You can’t pack.
Beverly: I’ll just make sure I have a portable emergency pack ready like Sheldon.
Tamara: Sheldon? Never mind.
Beverly: The Big Bang Theory.
Tamara: That’s a TV show.
Beverly: It doesn’t mean he’s not always right.
Tamara: Never mind! Who has influenced how you perceive love? Why?
My family. No matter what they always have to love you! I have quite a family, but no matter what any of us have done we are family. Blood. You don’t turn your back on family ever.
Tamara: Okay. We are SSLY so I have to ask. Who loves you?
Besides you? *grins and blows a kiss* My family, my poor husband and I’m pretty sure my kids, especially when they want something! My close friends, my dragons and my daughter’s cat.
Now for some quick fun questions:
Boxers or briefs? Commando!
Coffee or Tea? Coffee
Tall, dark and handsome or Blond and buff? 😀 Both!
Hairy chest or smooth? Hairy (come here sasquatch!)
Chocolate or Vanilla? Chocolate…mmm
Kinky or Sweet? kinky
They had been searching for their mate, but when they find her she is traumatized and scared to be around strange men. They must get her to accept them before they reveal their true natures. Will their love be strong enough to break down her barriers? Could she truly be destined to love two dragons?
Today Annie’s dragons will shift and fulfill her every desire, which means a fiery threesome—and true love.
When she found them in the barn, they were glaring at each other, a low growl coming from Tine. Lovely. She hated it when they fought.
“Knock it off, boys!”
They slowly stared her down, gold and green eyes unblinking. Grrr, dragons. Sometimes she could tell they thought they were boss.
Tine suddenly leapt up and licked her from head to toe. Ew. Brand followed suit and licked
her too, evidently not to be outdone. Ugh. Now she was wet and sticky all over. Glaring at them,
she stripped and dove into the pond. The sensation was decadent, the movement of the warm
water caressing her hypersensitive body. Then the water swirled behind her and she recognized
the dragons had followed her in.
“Get out!” she cried, surfacing. She did not want to share. The boys were the reason she
needed to rinse off in the first place.
Of course they didn’t listen; they loved to play like this. Brand came up beneath her,
positioning himself so that Annie was straddling his snout, and he lifted her up out of the water
atop his head. After the dream she’d had, her flesh was tingling and reactive, and she had a flash
of panic. That supple dragonskin kindled heat better left unexplored, and she was just about to
dismount when Tine leapt up and nudged her forward, tumbling her off and dumping her
headfirst into the water. From the noises, she swore both dragons were laughing. Then she
thought she heard, It is time.
Beverly Ovalle lives in Wisconsin with her husband Edmond of 23 years and her two Chinese Water Dragons. Her son Nicholas will drop in occasionally when he is on leave from the Marines. Her daughter Susannah will stop over to grocery shop in the pantry when she is out of food and money. 😀 Having her own Dragons is expected as she is dragon crazy and anyone that walks in her house can tell.
Beverly has traveled around the world thanks to five years in the US Navy and has worked for the government in one capacity or another for the past 30 years. Beverly has been reading romances since her Aunt introduced her to the gothic romance in the fourth grade and is still reading every chance she gets. She is currently Adjutant for her local AMVETS post though she prefers the term agitator!
I love to cook and often dream of taking up the mantle of chef. I imagine wielding utensils like mad on Hell’s Kitchen along side of Gordon Ramsey (yes I have issues – I prefer to call them challenges!)
I am also a mad crafter! Favorite hobbies include beading and sewing. I’ve tried scrapbooking but haven’t really gotten the hang of it! I knit only because of those circle knitting things and only made hats and scarves. You could spot my daughter’s friends one winter by the group wearing the sparkling fluffy hats and scarves.
