Book Tour ~ Character Interview ~ The Wishes Chronicles ~ Paula Millhouse

Introduce yourself. What book are you from? Are you the hero, heroine, villain?

Hi SSLY Blog Readers. Happy New Year, Beverly & Tamara!
My name is Evie Longfellow, and I’m the heroine in this crazy mixed-up Whishes Chronicles series. You know, I never saw myself as a heroine or anything until Paula let me out of the great library of stories waiting to be written. Actually, to tell the truth, I’m glad she picked me.

Welcome Evie! How did you come to your author’s attention?

The way Paula tells it, she was conducting research on her first novel when she stumbled on INTERPOL’s website. Girls, when she saw the faces on the Most Wanted list, something dark flipped in her gut, poor thing. She told me a question and a problem popped into her mind: What would happen if a girl got caught up in a web of violence associated with that type of criminal?
I showed up for work the next day to help her solve the problem, and, well, it’s been a thrill ride ever since.

Did you give your author a hard time when she was writing your story?

Umm, well, it wasn’t really me that gave her a hard time. It was those damn Marino’s, and their goons. Running for my life from those cats was hell, let me tell you. Oh, and Nick – now he gave her grief right up until our first love scene.

See, Nick wanted to make me call the cops – hell, he knows the FBI, okay. He made me talk to them about the kidnapping, and how I got away from the bastards. And, if Nick hadn’t been the man he is that serial killer might still be at large, girls.

Miss Aida’s Hit Man Tony Aiello, (he’s one of those class-act Anti-heroes, BTW) he really caused us all a lot of grief.

What do you do for a living?

I’m a New York Times Best Selling author. I write crime fiction, see, and that’s what drew that maniac to me. I had to go under cover of course, take a pen name, and hide out, but I’m still writing.

Who is the love of your life?

Dr. Nicholas Franklin. Nick. Swoon. He showed up for work in our story in the nick of time (pardon the pun!). My God, the man is the perfect blend of male DNA. Have you seen him? Paula posted her dream cast for the book on her Pinterest pages. Go check it out and see if you agree.

But it’s not just Nick’s body I’m in it for – the man is flawed, and caring, and protective, and fun! He showed me the beauty of rural Vermont where his family owns a Hundred Acre Wood.

What was the first thing you noticed about him/her?

Those incredible periwinkle blue eyes. Grizzly Bear broad shoulders. He’s like, Green Giant tall – hell, all the Franklins are. But it was the way he helped me get to safety that really caught my eye.

What’s your greatest fear?

That I’ll lose Nick because of those maniacs in the Marino Family. You know, they say the mafia is dead and gone, a slippery shadow of days past, but I’m here to tell you, at least in our story, those snakes are alive and well, and they’re packing.

What’s your motto in life?

Own bigger guns, and small-town justice is alive and well in the USA.

LOL! How do the other characters in your book view you?

Nick wanted to save me. Tony wanted to find me, because the evidence I had against Marino Industries threatened to take Miss Aida’s fortune 500 company to its knees. Paulie (that creep!) wanted my head on his trophy wall.

Nick’s big sister Meg, well, bad-ass Mother Wolf that she is she took me into her home and hid me out. Apparently, she’s like, one of my greatest fans. She thinks Nick and I are perfect for each other. Nick came looking for me to have me sign a hard back of my new novel for Meg, and that’s when our story started.

What do you think reader will find interesting about you?

Well, I’ve written characters my whole life, but what Paula did with me was amazing. She gave me a deep willingness to survive through a horrible mess. I’m no shrinking violet – my author gave me cahones!

I think what readers will find most interesting about me is I’m a girl who got caught up in a nasty snare of the wrong crowd and I fought my way out of it. I stood up for myself, and for all the other victims that bastard Paulie hurt, and together our cast took him down.

What is the kinkiest thing you’ve ever done?

Read chapter forty to find out :Evie winks, and puts on a devilish smile:

Will we be seeing you in future books?

I’m the lead heroine in All Your Wishes…, the second novel in The Wishes Chronicles. I hope she’ll write more of me in the future. Paula’s gotten distracted by writing Fantasy Romance with dragons and elves and this whole other world she’s created called The Kingdom of Chalvaren Romances. Her short story prequel DRAGONSTONE is really good, but If I keep pestering her enough, who knows?

What makes you happy?

The idea of marrying Nick Franklin, living in rural Vermont in peace and writing my stories.

What makes you mad?

The thought of readers never finding our story, and gun control in America – I mean, the very concept violates the United States Constitution, and it’s dead wrong. Read my story and find out why.

Here’s a special adult readers only deep cut from Careful What You Wish For…

Like a commuter train collision that’s impossible to look away from, Nick watched their bodies collide. Felt the impact of their hearts. He didn’t think. He stamped out all his resolve, his reservations, reveling in the feeling of Evie’s softness underneath him on the giant playing field of his king-sized bed.
Air whooshed out from her lungs. He covered her body with his. Hungry lips found the nape of her neck, one anxious palm cupped her breast. Mine. Reason fled. Only Evie remained.
She pressed her chest hard into his hand, his fingers splayed, kneading the precious soft mound. Taste her. If he didn’t get the fabric off her flesh he knew he’d lose his mind.
“Too many clothes!” she moaned, frustration filling her voice.
His erection soared, screaming for freedom with the sound of her plea. “Off! Now! All of them on the floor!” Her hasty strip had him doing the same. When she knelt on her knees before him, bare, his eyes took her in. Her body was perfect. Flawless. Soft and round where it should be, tight peaks of nipples staring him down. Begging him to touch.
Blood rushed to his head. Thrummed through his body, tightening muscles, pushing him forward. His hand went out first, his lips followed next, palm covering one swollen nipple, lips engulfing the other. Yes. What I want. Her. Always her. Damn his stupid holding back, hurting her like that. She wasn’t the cause of his grief and his soul swore an oath not to punish her anymore.
Evie’s voice came out low, and she ground her body against him. “I want you.”
“Done,” he murmured against her flesh. He kneaded her breast with his lips. Lashed out his tongue, teased the peak of one nipple with moist licks, used fingertips to plump its mate.
Tentative, trembling feminine fingers swept across the muscles of his abdomen leaving a spasm in their wake. Her hands enclosed his swollen shaft. He threw back his head, the corded muscles of his neck straining. “Yes.” Both hands on him, stroking up and down, everything he wanted, her hands on him, his hands on her. Damn the past. Damn the future. All that mattered was this second in time; her demanding he stand up for what he wanted.
