Hope your turkey day was good! We celebrated on Friday so the kids could go to their SO’s families.
We got together on Friday instead, that way no one had to leave early. I was up at the buttcrack of dawn to cook. Okay, not really. I started at 600 am. Early for this retired one, lol. I started cooking on Thursday. Did the turkey and thank goodness I did. It took 2 hours longer to cook than planned. Despite thawing in the refrigerator for six days, it was still frozen in the middle. Usually I thaw the bird in the sink, but I pulled my back out a week before that and could barely move, let alone lift anything. So my son in law came over and put the 22 lb bird in the fridge for me.
The upside was the turkey was off the bone for Friday, saving time there. The bad thing was the legs cooked a lot faster than the rest of the turkey, so they were a bit more done than I would prefer as I really love the dark meat. Oh well. I’ll try not to injure myself before cooking.
We also celebrated my sons birthday. It is next week, but we are leaving for Arizona and California before it. The kids are flying to meet us out there. We are driving.
This is the only picture I took. No one looks happy, lol, but we did have a good time. My brother and his wife and kids drove up to join us, along with my son in laws sister. Not everyone is in this picture, because I’m a lousy photographer and because we’d finished eating and family were scattered around the house rather than still sitting at the table.

Hope you all had a good Thanksgiving.
