Review- Her Forever Cowboy- Donna Michaels

herforevercowboyHER FOREVER COWBOY
Harland County Series/Book 4: Kevin
83,000 words
Heat index: Hot

Single mother Shayla Ryan is tired of running, and longs to put down roots to create a stable environment for her baby girl and her younger sister. Having grown up with the opposite, she’s determined to raise her daughter right, and Harland County holds a lot of appeal. Too much appeal, in the form of a Casanova cowboy with eye-catching good looks and easy charm. It was time to settle down, create a forever home, and despite the fact the sexy cowboy interferes with her pulse, he’s made it perfectly clear he’s allergic to forever.

If there’s one thing software company vice president, Kevin Dalton loves more than puzzles, it’s women. Size, shape, race doesn’t matter as long as they don’t want a relationship. Been there, done that. He’s not looking to repeat the past, and happy to remain single. Until two beautiful redheads drop him to his knees—one with her cutie-pie smile, the other with her elbow. Too bad the elbow-toting beauty was both hot and puzzling. A killer combination too strong to resist. So he doesn’t, and without realizing it, the redheads slowly rewrite the code around his heart.

But when a danger from the woman’s past shows up and threatens the girls’ future, will he rise to the challenge and fight to keep them in his life? And if he does, can he really be what they need? A forever cowboy?

Tamara’s Review
I fell in love with Kevin Dalton when he was first introduced to the Harlan county scene. I loved his devil may care attitude and his incredible mind (I dig a smart man) I have to say I wasn’t quite sure what to make of Shayla when she first arrive in Harlan county. She was kind of an enigma. A lot of secrets clouded her past and I wasn’t sure I liked her, but it turns out her secrets weren’t bad on her part, just sad. Everything she did was to protect her family. That girl sacrificed a lot in life for others and she really deserves a happily eery after.
Her Forever Cowboy takes two people that one would think are terribly mismatched: a brilliant, billionaire, playboy, cowboy Casanova, and a down on her luck, single mother and throws them together. Neither one is looking for a relationship.
Keven “doesn’t do” relationships. He’s been burned in the past and always keeps things superficial. Shayla has been on the run since she was sixteen. Her father is a nightmare. With the money from her former fiance’s death benefits she has changed her name and tried to start a new life, but she still fears she’ll have to run again, and Kevin reminds her too much of Amelia’s father. Rich and uncaring.
But fate and the pushy hands of the Masters and the McCalls keep throwing the couple together and Shayla soon sees that Kevin isn’t uncaring at all. He is actually a really sweet man and very sweet on her.
I loved seeing these two guarded souls open their hearts to each other.
A wonderful combination of hot and sweet, this romance tugged my heart strings in all the right places!

Review- Loving the Omega- Carrie Ann Ryan

loving the omegaMaddox Jamenson almost lost his mate before he knew she existed, but his life is now exactly how he’d dreamed it. The war with the Centrals is over, and his family is healing one day at a time. Ellie is reveling in the simple perfection that is her life and family now, but that doesn’t mean she can shed the self-doubts and concerns that come with being a new mother, mate, and Redwood.
When a disturbance in their quiet life threatens to ruin everything they’ve fought for, Maddox and Ellie will have to learn not only to rely on each other more than ever, but find within themselves the power to forgive.
Author’s Note: This is a novella set after book 7 to give you a taste of Maddox and Ellie. It is best that you have already immersed yourselves in the Redwood Pack world, however even new readers will enjoy a glimpse of one of the Redwood’s favorite couples

Tamara’s Review

I enjoyed this look into the life of Maddox and Ellie. I have to admit, I have Fighting Fate on Kindle, but because I received Loving the Omega for review, I read it, even though I haven’t yet read Fighting Fate.
While these books are meant to be able to be read as stand alone, there were spoilers in Loving the Omega that made me wish I’d read Fighting Fate first. So, if you are following the series, I recommend you read it in order.
My only complaint about Loving the Omega was that it ended it bit abruptly, in my opinion. That’s why I am giving it a 4 instead of a 5 heart review. I reached the end and went “That’s it?” I wanted to turn the page and keep going!
As Always, Carrie Ann gave us a great story, with high emotions and suspense. The time line jumps several years into the future, and it was good to see how things are turning out for the Redwoods.
I can’t wait for the continuation of the series with the Talon pack.

Review- Exquisite Trouble- Ann Mayburn

exquisite TroubleBefore I met Smoke I’d never been kissed, really kissed, by a man, let alone a biker sex god bent on taking my virginity and my heart.

I got dragged into the deadly world of the Iron Horse MC by my crazy twin sister who is engaged to the club’s President and the schemes of my even crazier mom who only cares about herself. Smoke has been assigned by the club to keep me safe even though he’s everything that I should be afraid of. He’s the kind of man who lives by his own rules and does whatever he wants whenever he wants, but he treats me like I’m something rare and precious, not a socially dysfunctional basket case who has no idea how to love, but needs him more than her next breath.

Not that my feelings matter, because if we don’t find my mother soon, the only thing I’ll have to be worried about is who is going to kill me first

Tamara’s Review

Wow, wow, wow! What a hot start to a new series for Ann Mayburn. I love Ann and Exquisite Trouble rocked my world. A look deeply into the MC lifestyle, rife with danger, excitement and mystery. Hot motorcycle riding heroes and their odd group of “old ladies.”
I loved every minute of this book… until I reached the end. Then I wanted to grab Ann by the neck and strangle her! Cliffhanger! Gah!
The characters in Exquisite Trouble twisted your brain. Hard, dangerous men. I won’t tell you how they came by their “street names”, but the origin of Smoke’s moniker is enough to make you afraid to close your eyes at night. However, though he is deadly and quick to anger, when it comes to Swan, he has the patience of a saint.
I loved the relationship between Swan and Smoke. The easy way he accepts her idiosyncrasies and laughs off her “bitchiness.”
Swan was a crazy mix of innocence and strength. Raised in a cloistered environment, Swan has been shielded from the “real” world, but exposed to things most “normal” people will never encounter. Consequently, she shows absolutely no fear. The more uncomfortable she becomes, the more sarcastic her mouth runs.
I could not put this book down. If you are a fan of MC romance, Exquisite Trouble is right up your alley. If, like me, you are new to this genre, Exquisite Trouble will hook you and reel you in.
I highly recommend this steamy, edge of your seat romance. I can’t wait for book 2! Write fast Ann I NEED to know what happens next!

Review- What Remains:Untainted by Kris Norris

What Remains: Book One

The apocalypse has passed. The dead have risen. But what remains…

Colby, Darcy and Barrett are hardened soldiers with a new war. A deadly disease has decimated the human population, reducing it to small pockets of survivors who fight daily again the raging hordes of undead plaguing the planet. The three men are part of a recon mission, scouting locations where humans have been reported still alive amidst the dead. But after ten months of searching, they’re ready to give up.

Abby Brennigan has been surviving on her own for half a year, hiding out in an old abandoned control tower. She hasn’t seen anything remotely alive in what feels like forever, until the three men stumble upon her hideout and into her heart. She’d promised herself she wouldn’t get close again…wouldn’t put herself through the torture of watching another person she cared about slowly fade until they turn into a monster straight off the pages of a horror novel.

But the boys aren’t taking no for an answer and as they face one test after another, the big question is—how long can they all remain untainted.

Cara’s Review

What better way to while away an afternoon than reading a zombie apocalypse book?  Kris Norris’s novel, What Remains: Untainted,” shows that even at the end of the world, love and desire has a place.  Abby has been alone for six months, since the last of her group was attacked by zombies.  Barrett, Darcy, and Colby are soldiers, who run reconnaissance missions for a small compound.  Certainly, none of them were expecting to find love in the time of zombies!

While very fast paced, Norris is able to make each character unique, and well rounded.  They quickly develop feeling for each other- and when they act on them….hot, hot, hot!  The book is filled with several good menage scenes (no m/m action), and interspersed with some one on one action as well.  I’m not sure how well the world will turn out with such a limited population, but these four characters have certainly been provided a HAE.

Code Name: Nina’s Choice- Natasza Waters- New Release- Review!

She deflects every round Mace fires at her heart, determination controlling the helm. Just as the seas calm, fate advances. Another warrior sets his sights on her. Mace will wage war for her heart, but it’s “Nina’s Choice”

Tamara’s Review

Code Name:Nina’s Choice, the third book in the Warrior’s challenge series is a very different read then the first two books. A little less action and a lot more heart.
Mace was one of my favorite characters in this series and I couldn’t wait to see him find his “forever girl,” and Nina is the perfect match for this sexy SEAL.

Mace has a lot of Challenges to face: he was injured in Syria, in the most devastating place a man can be hurt. His recovery is not progressing as he would like. Physically, he need to re-qualify for the teams. Add to that, he’s now in the first serious relationship of his life and that woman has a child. Enough to send a lesser man running of the hills.
Nina’s life up to this point has been all about her daughter, Gabbs. She didn’t expect a sex SEAL to walk in and steal her heart, but he did. Now he’s pulling away. Does she fight for what she wants or things play out and see what happens? They don’t call her Ninja Grasshopper for nothing! Nina goes after what she wants.

Code Name: Nina’s Choice gives you a deeper look into the behind the scenes lives of seal team Alpha. The close relationships between the team members. The love and sacrifices these men and women make for each other and their country. But, the one who steals the show is Gabriella, Nina’s daughter. Gabbs’ is the catalyst in some amazing scenes (can’t tell, no spoilers)that will have the tears rolling down your cheeks like the waves rolling on the beach.

I loved Code Name:Ghost and Code Name: Kayla’s Fire, but Code Name: Nina’s Choice stole my heart! An absolutely perfect combination of heart, heat, action and suspense. Set an entire day aside, find a quiet place to read, your drink of choice, a box of tissues and dive in. You won’t be coming up until the last page is turned.

Review- Forsaking Truth- Lydia Michaels

When Luke McCullough’s athletic potential is diminished by a field injury, his pride pays the price. Returned to Center County a broken man, the long road to recovery seems dreary and overshadowed by opportunities lost, until he meets Tristan Hughes.

Tristan came to Center County to escape his past and start anew, but nothing prepared him for Luke. Intrigued, Tristan cautiously gets to know this powerful man, only to fall head over heels for the vulnerable soul hiding behind all that intensity and drive.

Luke has never been interested in men, so when he can’t get Tristan out of his head he doubles his efforts to fight the inevitable. Stolen glances lead to heated encounters, followed by punishing regret, but Luke’s inability to face the truth of who he really is may cost him the only happiness he’s ever known.

Tamara’s Review

Forsaking Truth is book 5 in the McCollough Mountain series, and I’ll admit, I’ve really been waiting for this one. Luke was a really tough nut to crack and I wanted to see him get his happily ever after. I knew it wasn’t going to be an easy journey. So I was prepared, tissues handy and no one to disturb me while I dived into Luke and Tristan’s story.
What did surprise me was that the majority of the tears I shed (and I did) were happy tears. Don’t let me deceive you. This was a hard emotional book. These two face a lot of challenges and trials. I raged with Tristan at the unfairness he had to deal with from his own partner, I sympathized with Luke and his inability to come to terms with his own sexuality and his small town Catholic background, and I cheered for them both when they finally found their peace.
As with all the McCollough Mountain books, Forsaking Truth is not your typical love story. It is an in depth look at life and society. At the trials and joys that Gay men face today and this couple faced in particular. In my opinion Lydia Michaels is virtuoso of prose, addressing sensitive subjects with intelligence, emotion and empathy. Kudos Lydia, on another shining gem in your tiara!

Review- Major Attraction – Marie Harte

Tamara’s Review
Major Attraction was a a smokin’ hot read featuring a military hero, Major Kyle Waters and a big beautiful heroine, Olivia Cava. Two of my favorite things in a great genre.
The love scenes were definitely hot, but Major Attraction had a major flaw, in my opinion. Kyle acts like an ass. Yes, I know there are times when all men act like asses, but I expected more from this man. He seemed like such a perfect guy and then BAM out of nowhere, he behaves in a way that I felt was totally opposite to the character of an honorable Marine. I can’t really explain without giving spoilers, and I don’t do that, so… just suffice it to say, Kyle lost a lot of respect in my eyes.
If you overlook the character motivation, on a whole Major Attraction was an enjoyable read. I liked Olivia a lot. She is smart, funny, hard-working and an odd combination of innocent and sensual. Marie, her BFF and sister-in-law was a hoot and her brothers? Oh man, I hope Brad will be appearing in a future story.
If You’re into ripped handsome men with voracious sexual appetites and sex on the kitchen table (and who isn’t) give Major Attraction a read.

I received an ARC of this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review
