Hello, my name is Mina Calvi, I was born in Italy about 23 years ago, but now I live in Orange County California with my older sister, Paola.
I’m the main character in the Mina’s adventures series. See? My author named the whole series after me. The first book is Love Thy Sister. To some I’m the heroine while others call me a villain. I’m Mina, read me and you’ll like me.
How did you come to your author’s attention?
We share a lot. My author is also Italian and she lives in the United States. She wishes she was 23, and although she may act like she is, she is much older.
Did you give your author a hard time when she was writing your story?
Nah, like I said, we have a lot in common. We both swear in Italian, we like tall men, probably because we are short. I have one sister, my author has three. We tend to act on impulse. I’m told she has a sign on her desk that says WAIT. She won’t tell me what she should wait for. She wants me to grow up. I will, but what’s the hurry? I intend to stick around for a lot longer, we could grow old together, except, she is already old.
What do you do for a living?
As little as possible. I work part time as a waitress, it’s an easy job and although I get fired often, I always find a new place to hire me and I also go to school.
Who is the love of your life?
Is this a trick question? It’s complicated. And I like complicated when it come to men. I also love tall men, but I already told you that. Be patient, when it comes to love, it’s a journey, a discovery.
What was the first thing you noticed about him/her?
The eyes. The smile. The naked ring finger. Buns bound to garner him more than a mere honorable mention in the Levi’s Hall of Fame.
What’s your greatest fear?
To bring harm to others, lose the people I love.
What’s your motto in life?
This thou shall pass.
How do the other characters in your book view you?
Irresponsible, spoiled, generous, loving, above all, never boring.
What do you think reader will find interesting about you?
My bubbly personality, the fact that I’m not willing to give up and that I am fiercely devoted to the people I love. It’s not easy to be an Italian young woman in California. I was dropped off at Los Angeles International airport when I was sixteen. American girls my age were planning the prom. I had no idea what a prom was, still only heard from others. I didn’t know how to drive, or how to speak English. My parents had just died. In Italy. I’m getting misty. Moving on.
What is the kinkiest thing you’ve ever done?
Honestly I hope I haven’t done it yet, because…well…you’ll need to keep on reading, it gets hotter and hotter, book after book.
Will we be seeing you in future books?
Oh, yes. Book #2 is already available, that would be Bosom Bodies and my author is working very hard on book #3. The poor woman had to go to Italy to get all the details worked out because book #3 takes place in Italy. Oh, yeah, she must have been suffering the whole time she was there. NOT!
What makes you happy?
Anything and everything. The clean smell of aftershave on a man’s skin, the color of the sun setting on the Pacific. Sharing a peanut butter sandwich with a friend. Don’t laugh. We didn’t have peanut butter in Italy. The way my Italian friends pronounce Hollywood and how my American friends pronounce Italian names like Paola or Gianna..
What makes you mad?
Life’s unfairness. People taking advantage or hurting the most vulnerable among us. Social injustice. And the fact that everyone tells me I should lock my car when they know my lock is broken.

Maria Grazia Swan was born in Italy, but this rolling stone has definitely gathered no moss. She lived in Belgium, France, Germany, in beautiful Orange County, California where she raised her family, and is currently at home in Phoenix, Arizona—but stay tuned for weekly updates of Where in the World is Maria Grazia Swan?
As a young girl, her vivid imagination predestined her to be a writer. She won her first literary award at the age of fourteen while living in Belgium. As a young woman Maria returned to Italy to design for—ooh-la-la—haute couture. Once in the U.S. and after years of concentrating on family, she tackled real estate. These days her time is devoted to her deepest passions: writing and helping people find happiness.
Maria loves travel, opera, good books, hiking, and intelligent movies (if she can find one, that is). When asked about her idea of a perfect evening, she favors stimulating conversation, tasty Italian food and perfectly chilled Prosecco—but then, who doesn’t?
Maria has written short stories for anthologies, articles for high profile magazines and numerous blogs tackling love and life. She engaged her editorial and non-fiction skills for Boomer Babes: Tales of Love and Lust in the Later Years. Her romantic suspense novels Love Thy Sister and Bosom Bodies are available at Amazon.com.
