Wow! I’d like to say Cara’s review made them rethink the cover, but they were on to it long before we said anything! Having heard from the publisher, he delicately mentioned that there was a new cover for The Lady in Green, sooo…here it is!
Escaping an arranged marriage, Annalise Avery takes employment at Lord Gardiner’s townhouse and, disguised as his housekeeper, vows to end the lord’s lascivious and despicable ways.
Cara’s Review
What a fun read! I have to be honest, and say I was put off by the cover- but you know the saying, and it proved to be true in this case! Annalise Avery, newly risen from her sick bed, discovers her fiancé isn’t everything she thought he would be; so she makes her escape to London. There she meets Gard, a handsome ne’er do well with only one goal: some good loving.
Of course, when their paths cross it is not as the beautiful Annalise and the charming Gard, instead it is between Anne Lee the awful looking housekeeper, and Gard the renter of his new pied-a-terre. Let the madness ensue! Anne is determined that no improprieties occur while she is under the same roof, and comes up with more and more ingenious ideas to thwart Gard’s plans for some loving. I laughed and cringed with each fiasco; in a world built on reputation, Annalise inadvertently did her best to ruin Gard.
This was a super fun read, and I would recommend it to all readers who enjoy historical romance. It’s been a while since I read a historical romance, not sure if that is the reason or because of the lingo used, but I did have a hard time “translating” some of the phrases of the ton. Other than that, I have no complaints, and really enjoyed the read.
