From me to you!

I’m late, but it’s a good thing, lol. I’m working on the third book in the Dragon’s Fated Heart series. My working name is Saving Grace, but Grace doesn’t need saving! I’m loving this book so far. I wake up thinking about it. Dream about it. Crazy, I know. I’m immersed in my own world.

Let’s see if I can find a section that isn’t too bad. Mind you, no edits are done. I haven’t read it over for rewrites or corrections. This is a bald and ugly section of my original concept. It needs more fleshing out!

Hmmm… let’s see…

Grace couldn’t believe it. How on earth could a place this big be hidden?

Rog’s groan made her belly twist. She wondered what so many rooms were needed for. They couldn’t be more tunnels. None of the tunnels had doors leading to them. Hark was striding toward the first one. The slap of his feet making Grace realize he walked barefoot.

“Don’t you have any shoes?” She squeezed her eyes shut, realizing how rude her question sounded. “Sorry.” This is why she didn’t people.

“He probably left them upstairs.” Rog shrugged, obviously unconcerned.

Hark was a big boy and he didn’t seem bothered by it. She shouldn’t be either.

Rog urged me forward. Grace sucked in a deep breath at the warmth of his hand against her back. Ignoring the flutters in her belly, she followed Hark, quickening her steps away from Rog. She didn’t quite move fast enough. His touch continued to make her ache in places she’d rather not think about.

“No, I lost them. Doesn’t matter. My feet are tough.” Hark pushed open a door.

Grace followed, slamming into his back, her attention more on the man behind her, rather than the one in front. And he stopped to look at the room they entered, creating a living breathing brick wall. “Sorry.”

“Check this out.” Sweeping his arm in front of him, Hark moved further into the room.

Grace’s jaw dropped. Fascinated, she walked further in.

Behind her Rog exclaimed. “Holy shit.”

She spun around the center of the room. Grace never thought to find something like this in an old abandoned mine. One abandoned long before the apocalypse.

“I want to see the other rooms.” She ran to one of the doors leading from the room. A light went on when the door opened. She stopped. Other than a layer of dust, and not much of that, the room was pristine.

Grace walked over, hesitantly touching the bed. She pushed on it. It was soft. This must be a mattress. One from before. She looked back at the door, hearing just murmurs of conversation. Leaned on it, putting much of her weight on it. Standing back, she couldn’t stop the grin crossing her face.

Grace clamored on top, stretching out, spreading her arms and legs. Like sitting on a cloud. Her head on the pillow, she let herself sink onto the mattress. So soft. She couldn’t stop the groan spilling from her throat. She never wanted to leave this bed. The room wasn’t drafty, muddy or wet.

“Are you okay?” Rog raced into the room. Stopping, he looked at her and grinned. “Enjoying yourself?”

“Um hm. I could stay here all day.” Grace wiggled, turning her face to Rog. “I’ve never felt a mattress like this.”

“You can, if you’d like.” Rog strode over to the side of the bed, leaning over her. Running a finger across cheek. “I’d be happy to join you.”

Heat streaked up her cheeks. She squirmed. “No, I want to see what else is down here.”

Rog leaned over and kissed her forehead. “If you’re sure.”

His grin twisted her insides, heat blooming from deep in her abdomen. She sucked in a breath, paralyzed. No one ever kissed her like that before, looking like that at her. The wicked twinkle in his eye sent desire spiraling through her body.

No, she wasn’t sure. She’d like to just grab Rog around the neck and pull him down on her. The look on his face told her he’d like nothing better. “Yes.”

Stepping back, Rog grabbed her hands, pulling her off the bed. “Up and at ‘em.”

Grace slid, leaning against the bed and trapped once again in his arms. She looked up into his eyes and sighed.

Rog stepped back, a smirk on his face, and the devil in his eyes. “Ladies first.”

Now, does this sound like Rog? He is trying to behave! lol.

The old and new world will be colliding in book 3. I already have the cover bought and paid for. I was going through book covers for sale and had to get it. So it’s waiting. I hate waiting! But since I don’t have a title yet, I can’t complain too much!

I’m anticipating a March release, as long as I keep moving on it! It is my NaNoWriMo 2019 project.  So were Stealing Hope and Finding Faith in previous years! I might as well keep it working for me!
