When Marti ran from her captors, she never thought someone would kidnap her again mid-escape. When faced with a lunatic who insists she’s been living on the wrong world all her life, she refuses to believe him. It’s crazy!
Yet, when Garrick the Gatekeeper uses the device that he calls a thread locator to drop her on another world, she finds her brother married and showing some long-lost emotion. She can’t deny something is definitely up. Have The Fates truly found the one man for her and should she believe that they’ve gotten things right this time or is the drop-dead gorgeous defender, Kylar, just another one of their mistakes?

This is the second of the Gate to Fate series by Ms. Xander, the first book is Woman Beware. I would recommend reading the books in order, so please take a moment to check out Woman Beware first. It’s not absolutely necessary, but you’ll have a much better understanding of what the Fates and Garrick are trying to achieve.
I really enjoy Ms. Xander’s books in general, and this was no disappointment. She weaves wonderful tales full of romance, heroes and heroines, and in this case, alien worlds. The Fates will work throughout this series to bring life mates separated by space, dimensions, or time together, for the betterment of the Universe (not too much pressure on a relationship!). Here, Marteeka (Marti) is rescued from the world of slavery that she was abducted into five years earlier. You’ll laugh at her interaction with Garrick, it’s pretty priceless. Kylar is another Defender, as is Marti’s brother, Artu and his wife, Lena (the main characters in Woman Beware). Kyl and the other Defenders come together to discuss the women who keep turning up missing on their worlds.
The passion is HOT in this book. Definitely five out of five flames for hotness! When you know the Fates are behind a match, you know things are going to click pretty quickly, as they do here. I’m left to wonder which of the Defenders will be stars of the next book, as I am pretty sure the women chosen by the Fates will all by mates to the Defenders.
I would definitely recommend this book to those of you who enjoy reading romance books set in other worlds, with alien species, filled with different cultures. It’s a quick read, but will not disappoint Ms. Xander’s fans, or those readers wanting to try something a little different.
