Review – Thunder Struck by Viola Grace

thunder struck

Kedna has been consigned to fostering on the empty world of Iskan when her power and her health become dangerous. Being mentored by a planetary Avatar is difficult, but moving the weather for an entire world is second nature.

When she is older and her skills are needed off world, she is paired with her first member of the Sector Guard. He is a pain in the butt and harbours resentments toward her for hogging his ancestral planet. She simply concentrates on the job and earns his respect in the bargain.

Fast forward to her twenty-third birthday and they cross paths again. This time, she knows his measure and he knows hers. Respect turns to fascination and progresses into a flirtation that crosses the stars.

Cara’s Review

A tempest in a teacup…yep, that’ll be one of the main images for you in this book.  This is a fun book, but there is a lot of waiting to be done in it.  Waiting for Kedna to come to terms with her powers, waiting for her to grow up, waiting for the bases to be built, waiting for the time to be right…etc.  However, Thunder Struck is able to tell a nice love story, while setting up a whole new Citadel and Sector Guard base planet.

Kedna (Thunder Stuck) is a strong female lead, and Haedock (Tend) will, eventually, become her HAE.  Halwis-Iskan and she have lofty goals, and I’m pretty sure the paths are firmly into place by the end of the book.  As always, the book is well written, and with small little surprises and side references that you have to be looking out for or you’ll miss!

It’s another fine story to add to the collection of misfits that have created a place for themselves in the Citadel.  Now, the planet Iskan can be home to some very interesting powers, and I can’t wait to see who pops up there next!
