Review- Keeper by Viola Grace

Aggie was slotted for life as a KeeKeeperper, a woman who put herself between her charges and danger. A genuine crisis of conscience kicks in on her second assignment and ends with her charge in hiding and Aggie in cold sleep for a while.

Ikvaro was Aggie’s instructor on the moon base and his heart broke when she disappeared and was reported dead. Informed that she was alive and needed his help, he resigns his commission as instructor and heads out to the stars to find his woman now that duty no longer stands between them.

She thaws, he looks into her eyes and she is no longer alone in there. She has gone from Keeper to Avatar and there is no protocol for this manoeuvre.

Cara’s Review

I am really enjoying the Second Wave books by Viola Grace.   In the first group of volunteers, the stories (mostly) started with the characters already deep into the program- already far from home.  The new wave of volunteers begin their tales while still on Earth.  This gives valuable insight into their character, and provides a background missing from some of the first heroines.

Aggie is assigned to be a Keeper, which I don’t think is a career we’ve come across yet.  Of course, being human, with human emotions, she sort of intentionally botches her second assignment.  Oops.    Fortunately, fate is on her side and with her two years in cold sleep coming up to an alarmingly permanent ending quickly, Ikvaro, a trainer on the Moon is contacted by Aggie’s twin sister, Marty, to find her and start the awakening (in more ways than one!).

As a truly good person, we learn that Aggie has even used her time in cold sleep to help out another being- and is now also an Avatar, because we Earthlings do nothing in half measures!  I’m absolutely dying to learn more of what will happen with Aggie, Ylor, and Ikvaro- and I’m sure future books will give us glimpses of them.  Aggie still has a lot of things she needs to come to terms with in relation to being an Avatar, and I’m sure that Ikvaro, the Diamond Talon, and Ylor will help her on her journey!

I would recommend this book to fans of sci-fi romance, it’s a great addition to Viola Grace’s works.  This has definitely won a place in my “re-read” pile!
