So today, I’ve got an excerpt for you!
Hark slapped his tail down, chortling as water coated Rog.
Rog shivered. The water was so cold. It didn’t seem to bother Hark. Rog would prefer to cuddle up to a warm body… No, he couldn’t go there. He wasn’t ready for a mate.
“This water is just too cold. I want to see where it’s coming from.” Rog stood up, looking at the winding river. It appeared to gradually head uphill. “Do you want to explore with me?”
“Sure. Here, catch.” Hark tossed a mess of fish, hitting him in the face. They flopped around on the grass, covered in slime and now dirt and grass.
“Thanks.” Rog stopped thinking about it and gobbled them up. His stomach growled, wanting more. More he got.
Hark tossed more, more water and more fish. “I heard that grumbling. Eat up. You should’ve eaten another cow earlier.”
Rog ignored him, slurping up the offering. Sure, he should have, but his stomach was full then. He had no desire to fatten up like his brother Crag. That dragon could practically drag his belly when he walked. Of course, his mate, Faith, didn’t seem to mind.
Another mess of fish hit his head. “Okay, that’s enough.” Rog quickly ate them, rinsing his face and front limbs in the river. “Thank you. Ready?”
Hark nodded, climbing up the bank. Shaking his body while he walked. He glanced up. “Do you think the rain will stop anytime soon?”
Rog looked at the sky. While it wasn’t as dark as a few hours ago, it still looked drab. “No. It looks pretty miserable. Maybe we can find a cave or something. Get a fire going.”
“Sounds great.” Hark lumbered along, walking beside Rog. “Want to fly?”
Rog had been thinking the same thing. “Yeah. Why walk when we have wings?”
Grinning at each other, they burst into a run, wings flapping, gaining altitude at the same time.
“Beat you.” Rog trumpeted into the air.
“Nope. I beat you.” Hark rolled, grinning back at him.
They followed the river. It led up into the hills. Deceptively simple, Rog was sure walking would be more trouble than expected if they had gone that way. Rocky surfaces shown through the grass. More and more rock.
“I’m sure we’ll find caves. Look at all the rock.”
Rog flew, turning away from the river, climbing higher. He frowned. He felt almost driven.
Hey, I thought you wanted to follow the river. Hark looked at the river and back to Rog.
I do, I did. Something is pulling me this way. Hurry. It feels urgent. Rog didn’t wait. He flew in the direction his heart was tugging him.
You know what this means. Your mate is somewhere this way.
And she’s in trouble. Hurry. Rog pumped his wings, catching a current, speeding faster.
The apocalypse had come and gone.
Secrets lie buried waiting to be found.
Dragons are not the only ones awakening to a new world.
Grace has always felt a bit like an outsider, even in her own family. She preferred to do things on her own, ignoring her loneliness. That all changes when Rog barrels into her life, opening her eyes to so much more.
Dragon shifter Rog has seen what problems hiding your inner dragon from your mate brings. Saving his mate from a precarious situation, he changes in front of her. Her awe and hesitant acceptance have him wrapped around her finger in a heartbeat.
Together they find a hidden, cryonic facility. Do they awaken the lost souls hidden in the depth of the mountain? Dare they take the chance of possibly bringing back the diseases to once again ravage their world?
Those are easy questions, but how can Rog explain the mating ritual to change Grace into a dragon involves himself and other dragons giving her more pleasure in a once in a lifetime experience?
I have to tell you, Saving Grace led me in an unexpected direction. I introduced two dragons you’ll see again. Indra and Zeru. I’ve already started Indra’s book. I’m using Indra’s Obsession as the working title, but Waking Tamara is an option for the actual title. Maybe. I have to see if that will work. To me, it doesn’t flow. I don’t have Hark’s mate yet. She hasn’t made an appearance. Soon, I hope! Otherwise Jeuvetorj will be getting her story first. Since, well, you’ve met her mate…or you will! So go buy Saving Grace!
