Book Tour ~ The Shoe by Trista Jaszczak ~ Interview ~ Review

Banner 1 - The Shoe (1)
The Shoe author photoBeverly and Tamara: Welcome to SSLY Trista. Thanks so much for joining us today. So first why don’t you tell us a little about yourself?

Thank you so much for having me over! I’m Trista Jaszczak. I know, that last name looks scary, it’s pronounced jazz-ick. So much easier to say than to spell. I’m from Hamilton, Ohio but call Anchorage, Alaska my home. My husband is military so home is where they tell us to live, haha. We’re happily married, we have two daughters and two rescue Labradors.

Tamara: Definitely thank him for his service! What do you HAVE to have when you are writing?

Chai tea and dark. If you read The Shoe, I’m pretty sure every time they drink a Chai tea, I was making a refill. I’m addicted.

Beverly: When did you start to write, who influenced you?

I was told it was when I was 4 and could scribble. When I truly remember? I was probably 7. I was writing some weird story about this kid and an imaginary friend that lived in his closet. I have no idea what influenced me at such a young age. I just picked up a pen and could not stop.

Tamara: Good thing for us! What do you think are the qualities that make up a “hero”?

Strong, courageous, charming…I love when he’s a gentleman.

Beverly: Can you describe your favorite character? And which of your books is he/she in? How do you come up with your characters?

Hunter. From The Shoe. He is the ultimate Prince Charming. It was weird….I was looking at a picture of Parker Hurley and was so taken away with his beauty and thought he looked like a rock star in the photo…Hunter was born from it.

Tamara: What are the hardest scenes for you to write? Suspense? Sex? Dialogue? And why?

Sex scenes always give me trouble. I put too much, too little. People get pushed against trees, clothes are ripped, people go all night. Some give me that…”are you kidding me?” look and I’ve had one ask “who has that stamina!?” Haha…for me that man better have some stamina if he gets me going.

Beverly: What is your favorite scene in your favorite book?

In The Shoe, I have two. The first, Hunter and Cinderella are dancing and he tells her to go easy on him. Eventually he spins and dips her and she says, “I though you said to go easy on you?” He replies, “I just said to go easy on me…I never said it was about dancing.” Completely melts me.
The next is sensual scene and up until that point Hunter has been a gentleman and he apologizes and stops a few times and then he just takes control. Screw this…I’m not sorry…I’m ripping this dress off. Even Prince Charming can only take so much.

Beverly: He is soooo sexy!

Tamara: Who would you choose as your “book boyfriend/girlfriend”? From what book? Author?

Wow…I am so stuck on Hunter right now from The Shoe, probably because I see him as Parker…I am overly wrapped up in that man. Haha.

Beverly: What is the kinkiest thing you’ve ever done? Or would like to? What? We are all about the love!

Haha! Best question ever. I think everyone loves the idea of bringing toys into the bedroom. That’s just fun right there. Gives him a break and a rest. That gives him more stamina. Because…I can go for a long…LONG…time. Role playing. I’m a writer, I have some ideas, haha. The idea of two guys at once…but that’s only fun if they’re focusing on me. So, pay attention boys. Remember, talk dirty, pull some hair, bite the lip…you’ll be just fine. 😉

Beverly: *high fives Trista*

Tamara: What are your favorite types of heroines? Do you like the damsel in distress who needs saving or the kick-ass variety? Why?

You know, it depends on the book and the heroine. Charlie from Loverboy, definitely kiss-ass and she had to be. Red from Little Red was more damsel in distress but she had her reasons and also had 7 brothers to protect her. Blair from The Shoe is one who changes into kick-ass. When I write, these characters really do what they want, go where they want and have a mind of their own.

Beverly: What was your worst date ever?

I’ve had so many…ones that make you look at me and think “what…the…hell…and you didn’t chop off body parts?” I had one when I was about 18. He was cute, we were young, nervous kind of thing. He was 20, so a tad older. First he made me pay for dinner. Then gave me a hotel key telling me he knew where dessert was. I wanted to stab him with a fork. I’m all for dutch but never make the lady pay everything. Another dating disaster was when I was 19, I was at a club for a concert. People could drink who were over 21 and I met the bartender. The bartender with a baby face, bright smile and said he was 21. SCORE! Until after dating…I found that he was 29, about to turn 30. I nearly died. He kept saying he wanted to have a baby with me and gave me a bottle with his college logo on it. I promptly threw that and ran.

Tamara: If you were stranded on a desert island, what three things would you want to have with you? (You have food, water, shelter, all the necessities, so nothing mundane)

Parker Hurley (can I say that?), my guitar and some way to write. Someone is bound to find us and hell if I’m with Parker, they can take their time.

Beverly: What is your “guilty pleasure”?

This is so ridiculous but when I go to the gym…I watch the men lift, run, play basketball…sweating, grunting and some are pretty…makes for good eye-candy.
I also love old movies and 80’s music. Those are so boring compared to the above.

Tamara: What dream or goals have you yet to realize?

I have a dream of being a best seller. Not for money but to me that would mean people loved my characters enough to put it there.

Beverly: *nods in agreement* What was your most embarrassing moment or the craziest thing you’ve done? C’mon dish!

Do you want the long list or short one?
I accidentally flashed my class in Jr. High. Most embarrassing moment of my life. At least there were some happy teenage boys in that class that day.

Tamara: LOL! If you were a color what would you be and why?

Red. I’m bright, I’m sassy, I’m fun and red is just sexy.

Beverly: How do you know you’re in love?

When your reality is far better than your dreams. When you live for the person who makes your stomach a knot, who makes you light up just by walking in a room and being without them is the single most scary thing you could ever imagine.

Tamara and Beverly: Okay. We are SSLY so we have to ask. Who loves you?

My husband, Adam. He’ll probably read this and send me a message saying “We have to talk when this deployment is over,” haha! We’ve been together 9 years and it’s still a shock every single day that I snagged him up.

Now for some quick fun questions:

Boxers or briefs? Does he HAVE to wear underwear? Neither for me…boxer briefs. Dear God…best male underwear out there.
Coffee or Tea? Tea but it has to be Chai tea, I have a complex.
Tall, dark and handsome or Blond and buff? Damn…tall, dark, handsome, buff and inked. God I love ink on a man!
Hairy chest or smooth? It depends, some hair is sexy…too much makes you look like an ape and it needs shaved.
Chocolate or Vanilla? Vanilla.
Kinky or Sweet? Kinky.
Fast or slow? Fast then slow, fast then slow.
Public or private? Private.
Top or bottom? Top. Bottom. Switching is fun!

Beverly’s Review:
I was so excited to read this. I finished Little Red and dove into The Shoe. I was expecting a totally exciting new take on a fairy tale and I wasn’t disappointed. Cinderella, er, Blair was a sweet unassuming character fitting as Cinderella. Though she did have a spicy streak. This is one girl that wouldn’t take being walked all over, especially after her two fairy ‘godmothers’ help her out.

I have to admit, I loved the fairy godmothers! Their input into this tale was hilarious.

The descriptions of the wicked boss and her daughters added just the right amount of spite to it.

And Prince Charming? Be still my beating heart! Totally yum and sweet and patient. Not that he didn’t want to jump her bones! He just bided his time.

Entertaining and fun, The Shoe shouldn’t be missed.

Can he keep her safe from himself?

Beverly’s Review:
Little Red is a wickedly enjoyable new take on the fairy tale. A female biker, running for her life. A man caught in a Voodoo curse.

Sam was wonderful. The depth of her character amazing. Determined to get away from the danger that follows her she escapes and runs. Into Ethan.

Ethan was sensitive. Totally hot and deadly. He would do everything he could to save her and keep her…even murder.

With a pack of brothers, Ethan is the youngest and Sam and Ethan are their only hope of breaking the curse-if he doesn’t get blood on his hands.

I loved this. You can tell it is a fairy tale, penned with a highly talented hand. Red and the wolf are an intriguing mix. Little Red takes off in a way I never would have thought of, but I’m so glad Trista did. I can’t wait for her next installment in her ‘Believe’ Series. I don’t want to spoil it so I’m pussy footing around. It’s great! If you like a good fairy tale, here is a great one! So go get it already!
