Review ~ Breaking Perfect by Lydia Michaels

Breaking PerfectBreaking Perfect

Blurb:
Dr. and Mrs. Mason Davis appear to have the perfect life, but looks can be deceiving. Liberty isn’t perfect, far from it, yet everyday she strives to be the ideal wife. It was love at first sight for Mason, despite all the challenges living with someone with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder might face. And from the moment Liberty gave him her heart, he knew he was meant to keep her safe. Mason accepts that Liberty is flawed, even when she does not. He endeavors to keep life as orchestrated as possible for his wife, but when his ex-lover, Sean, shows up unannounced, Mason loses a bit of his ever present control and cracks begin to show in his perfect life.

Liberty’s just right, carefully ordered world begins to unravel when she falls for the man who is in love with her husband. When what she wants is the antithesis of perfect, she struggles with her desires, and fears she may break. But breaking may be the only thing that can set Liberty free.

A beautifully told, psychological tale that redefines the meaning of perfect and breaks all the rules of love.

Beverly’s Review:
Wow. This is the second of Lydia Michaels’ books I have read and I sure wish I’d found her sooner.

This is a riveting tale of a woman and her husband that have found peace and love despite her background of child abuse and her sinking into a world that she’s needs to have perfect in order to cope. Mason cherishes her love and the pampering she gives him. Mason rejoices in the love they share as he has known heartbreak, when the man he gave his heart to, turned around and left him because he was ashamed to love another man. OCD defines Liberty’s world and the love and understanding from Mason makes her world perfect as all she wants is to be perfect for him. The brilliance of detailing the love and the way Mason and Liberty deal with her OCD is riveting.

Little things can make Liberty’s world start to crumble. A surgeon, Mason always worries when he has to leave Liberty alone. While at work the man Mason loved, shows up at his door to be greeted by Liberty. While Liberty knows she has a problem and the only way to relieve it is to hurt herself, Sean brings another dynamic into their lives. In Sean, Liberty finds another man who is willing to live with her ‘quirks’. As Sean and Mason admit their love is still there, Mason makes no excuses and lets Sean know that Liberty will always come first. He saved her, but she also saved him when he was drowning in heartbreak.

Sean’s feelings for Mason are still hard for him to admit. When Liberty and Mason invite him into their lives, Sean can’t deal with it. But Mason and Liberty need Sean and they know it. They just need him to realize that he needs them too.

The dynamics between the characters are mind blowing. The feelings for each character are well written and not overdone. Breaking Perfect is a perfect blend of a subject I never thought could be made into a romance, and a hot steamy one at that! From the first paragraph I was like what the hell? and I couldn’t put it down. I know from now on any books by Lydia Michaels won’t get opened until the weekend, when I don’t have to worry about getting up!

Beverly’s Review:
I’m very fond of the Masters of Tabu so I pretty much begged for a review copy! I wasn’t disappointed. The characters of the men have been introduced to us through out the series, so it is easy to learn more as you already have a bit of a background. Face it, they are all hot, sexy Doms-the sexy cowboy Marshal included! In Master Marshal we get to enjoy playing…er…reading about him! What’s not to like and pant over, right? Ride ’em Cowboy! Yee-haw!

The trick is to introduce the women that bring these wonderful alpha Doms to their knees. The writing style in Master Marshall is fantastic and brings you into the characters so you almost feel you know them personally. Sharon was a very insecure young woman. Her upbringing made her what she was. Gray really brings Sharon’s emotions out. Perhaps just a bit too much as it occasionally gets a bit repetitive, detracting from an otherwise enjoyable story. However as it is Sharon reliving her memories and insecurities, I do see how it fits in there. Honestly, I’m not sure the story would even work any other way.

There are some seriously hot scenes in here so if you’re faint of heart, there are plenty of us looking for our own playmate. We really don’t want to share anyway! Master Marshal is a great addition to the Masters of Tabu and I will continue to read them as long as there as smexy Doms wanting to play come out and play with me!

Cover reveal – Chasing Love – Tamara Hoffa

chasinglove

Coming Christmas Day!

Samantha Cross went out in search of a one night stand to celebrate her thirtieth birthday. She found more than she was looking for, when her sexy cowboy turned out to be her new neighbor, and seven years younger than her too.
Chase Ryan was looking for the one. He found her and she disappeared on him into the night. When he shows up at her door with an apple pie, the fun begins.
Samantha may run, but he is Chasing Love.

Excerpt:
Chase looked up from his beer when the bar door opened again, and his eyes widened. Hot damn! There was a goddess standing in the doorway. Holy shit, that was one hot woman…and that hair? He could already feel it sliding against his skin as she rode him like a wild stallion. Bet it will feel like silk.
The woman must be visiting in town, because he’d never seen her before, and unfortunately, he knew all the locals. Fresh meat. Yee haw, he knew the filly he was going after tonight. The goddess had paused at the entrance and scanned the interior, once she had her bearings she headed to the bar.
Chase let her settle into her seat and order her drink before he made his move. The bartender sat what looked like a strawberry daiquiri in front of the woman as Chase walked up to her side.
She swiveled on her stool to face him and gave a thorough once over. Her gaze swept from his face down to the tips of his polished cowboy boots and then back up again, pausing for a long moment on his groin, which swelled behind his zipper at her perusal.
When she finally made it back to his face, their eyes locked. Hers were gleaming with interest and a smile curved her lips.
Chase cocked a brow and tipped his hat. “Hello, beautiful. I hate to sound cliché, but are you new around these parts?”
Samantha laughed. “Hello yourself, cowboy. I don’t think I’ll answer your question. I prefer to be a woman of mystery.”
“Mystery is good. Can I at least get your name? Or should I just call you angel?”
Eyes dancing with delight, she held out her dainty little hand. “Samantha.”
His hand engulfed hers. The softest skin he had ever felt slid against his calloused paw. “Chase.”
“It’s nice to meet you, Chase. But, I think I’ll just call you Cowboy.”
Chance laid an arm over the back of her chair, drawing closer. The bar was noisy, so he had an excuse to lean close.
“So, what is a beautiful woman like you doing in a bar all by yourself, Samantha?”
“It’s my birthday. I’m celebrating.”
“Happy birthday. I won’t ask your age. I know better than that.”
“Good thing, because that’s something I definitely wouldn’t tell you.”
Her voice was a seductive purr that had his cock hardening in his jeans again. His position gave him a lovely view of the valley between her breasts and he could just imagine sliding his tongue into the hollow and then across her breast to a luscious nipple. Her nipples hardened, and his mouth went dry. The hard points were clearly visible through the thin fabric of her shirt and bra. Damn. His jeans were getting uncomfortable.
Chase returned his look to her face and their gazes locked, her pupils dilated, her breathing sped up.
“Would you like to dance?” Chase needed to get her in his arms.
She slithered off the barstool, her generous curves brushed along the front of his body as she descended to the floor. There was no way she could have missed the feel of his burgeoning arousal.
Chase stepped back and took her hand, leading her to the dance floor. The band was playing a slow country ballad and he drew her into his arms. Her soft curves fit perfectly against the hard lines of his body and she melted into him.
They moved together perfectly. Warmth flooded through him, and she felt so good in his arms. Her head rested against his shoulder and her soft breath washed across his neck. His hands slipped to the upper curve of her ass, not quite groping her, but pressing her against the proof of his desire.
She looked up and their eyes locked. “Want to be my birthday present?” she asked in a breathy whisper.

Beverly’s Review:
Simple Man had me laughing so hard I almost wet myself! Then later had me bawling like a baby. Simple man sucked you in so that you felt you were experiencing all of Shane’s emotions. I couldn’t put it down. The transformation of Shane and his life were engrossing. Despite his hardships that he faced, Shane never gave up, even when his life spiraled out of his control.

Following Shane and his growth was wonderful. His tale followed a natural progression, making me root for his success. Kate was just as enjoyable. The two brought out the best and sometimes the worst in each other. They complemented each other so well. I can’t say enough about how good this book was.

Shane was just a simple man. He wanted a family, someone to love and to love him.

~Excerpt~
Welcome, Dr. Lewis.

I hope you are finding the Castillo Retreat relaxing and delightful. 1Night Stand takes into consideration both parties requests and appetites when designing their encounter.

Your date will arrive shortly. Please get comfortable by undressing and wearing the robe provided and relax on the massage table in the spa room. He expressed on his application that he has great hands. If you are accepting, he would like to begin the evening with a massage.

Despite knowing you’re a physician, your date is slightly self-conscious about his appearance, so by having you wear the blindfold provided, he’ll feel more comfortable. You may have some concern having one sense taken from you. I suggest you and your partner decide on a safe word. Should either of you feel uneasy at any time, with any action, use the agreed-upon word to stop the encounter.

Have a wonderful evening.

Madame Eve

“What the hell? He’s self-conscious? I’m the one bare-ass naked under nothing but a robe.”

Staring at the envelope, she waited for the words to change even slightly. They didn’t. Dammit. With a grunt of irritation, she tossed the paperwork on the table and headed for the spa room.

He’s self-conscious. “Hmmm.” Disfigured from some accident, deformed at birth, marred by a bad case of adolescent acne? “Quit being so ridiculous, Abigail!”

She began to undress and caught a glimpse in the full-length mirror and sighed. She shouldn’t be disgusted—she had a beautiful, round figure, or so her mother told her all through high school, with well-defined arms and shoulders from her love of kayaking and canoeing. Hours in the medical center’s private pool helped as well. Regardless, an evil, self-destructive thought crossed her mind; He’ll wonder who delivered the cow then demand his money back.

Covering with the cozy bathrobe provided for her doused the notion. She lay down on her back on the towel-wrapped table and as directed, slipped the small blindfold over her eyes.

The world went dark. Not a frightening dark, but a deep, restful absence of light, a peaceful black.

Under the blindfold, she closed her eyes to the world. So quiet. She dozed, she had no idea how long, until the closing of the door brought her around.

“Hello?”

“Hello, Dr. Lewis. Or may I call you Abigail?”

“Abby is fine.” She turned her head, following the deep, satiny voice of a man. Quiet steps moved behind her head. He stopped. Fingering the knot of her robe, she tightened it, covering herself, hoping to ward off the odd sensation of him studying her shape.

The lonely spot between her legs pulsed when a heavy hand lit on her shoulder.

His breath fell warm and solicitous on her ear. “What would you like rubbed first?”
