My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I adore reading and what I love even more is reading a novella what keeps me glue to each page until I devour it in one sitting.

That’s exactly what HUSH by Carey Baldwin did, it’s a delicious, small town, gritty suspense romance that I could totally see myself reading again.

I love the fact that I never felt rushed or hurried through the story. The characters where complex, life like, and the story was detailed enough that it didn’t feel lacking. And all this done in under 100 pages.

Well Done Ms. Baldwin.

This is the second book by Carey Baldwin I have read and I must say that I’m looking forward to her next book, whatever that may be. She is a must read author for this reviewer.

A review-The Dare By Karin Tabke

The DareThe Dare by Karin Tabke

Review by Janet Juengling-Snell

I dare you…

Dr. Katrina Winslow has always known who she is; an elite scientist, a certifiable genius and ultra-reserved when it comes to love and relationships. So when a simple game of truth or dare offers the cool doctor the opportunity to shed her lab coat and glasses and put on a pair of sexy stilettos, she accepts the dare.  But will shedding her inhibitions fulfill her every desire and help her discover if she can be truly daring or will it cost her everything?

Two men, one a sexy stranger, and a night of no holds barred passion…

What would you dare to do?

THE DARE: The Chronicles of Katrina (Book One) by Karin Tabke

***Author’s Note: This is book one of a four part series.***

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

In Karin Tabke newest book, The Dare, the author takes the child’s game of Truth and Dare to a whole in level. Sometimes it takes accepting a Dare in order for the truth to be revealed. The Dare is the First novella in a four book series. It’s perfect for an afternoon read.

After Katrina accept a Dare from her boyfriend Evan to invite another man to join them for a night of pleasure, she can’t help but be drawn to the man, Simon, whom she had met early that day at the hotel they were staying. It’s an evening Katy won’t soon be forgetting, in more ways than one and this is where the story really takes off. She learns some truths about Evan that will rock her world, as she knows it.

The characters that Karin created had such depth that I felt drawn into the story, that they felt almost real. In addition, the fact that The Dare was a short story and it still accomplishing this feat totally amazed me. The story kept me thoroughly engaged until the very end.

Katrina is a smart, strong and fiercely independent woman, who is also filled with many insecurities, after having been abandon by several men in her life, including her father. This leaves her feeling, she isn’t good enough to keep any man around. Katrina keeps a tight rein on her life and her emotions. She trusts no one.

Till she meets Simon, whom she is naturally drawn to from the first moment they met. Hell, I was drawn to Simon, he’s not only smoken hot, he had the patience of a saint and seem to have an intuitive insight on what Kat (his nick name for Katrina) needs. After finding her drunk at the hotel bar, he takes her to his room and cares for her. When Simon held her hair while she is puking, it put such a grin, ear to ear, on my face, thinking to myself what a perfect Gentleman and where can I get one! It’s also during this time that Kat drops the walls around her heart long enough to confess some of her desires to Simon. Again, Simon just melted my heart as he listened to Kat, helping her understand herself better.

The next morning, Simon offers her the chance to fulfill some of the confession of last night, asking her to trust him. And to my delight she does. These were some hot scenes, filled with great sex and the start of a self-discovery journey for our heroine Kat, shedding her inhibitions.

After Simon is called away from the room and Kat’s enormous insecurities, a series of advents unfold that causes Kat to run.

I knew when I started reading The Dare that it was the first book in a series of 4, so I knew the chances there was going to be a cliff hanger at the end. But I wasn’t prepared of my reaction! I let out a shout and felt like I wanted to cry when I read the last sentence. I NEED THE REST OF THE STORY NOW!!!

BRAVO MS. Karin Tabke you have me right where you want, drooling to read the next book!

Review – Daddy’s Girl – J.M Kelley

Sometimes, returning home isn’t about confronting your past; it’s about discovering your future. Janie McGee, the black sheep of her family, is free-spirited, uninhibited, and never one to stay in the same place for too long. When Janie learns her father, Joe, is gravely ill, she reluctantly returns home to rural Pennsylvania to care for him. Joe’s neighbor, David Harris, sports a pocket protector, collects coins, and is addicted to Antiques Roadshow. Everything about him rubs Janie the wrong way, from his nerdy wardrobe to his enviable friendship with Joe. And to make matters worse, her father thinks they’re perfect for each other, proof positive of how little Joe knows his own daughter…or so Janie thinks. A shared devotion to the elder McGee begins to close the gulf between Janie and David, but a burgeoning romance opens the door to new problems and unexpected consequences neither could foresee. Joe, however, remains steadfast in his resolve to show Janie that Daddy knows what’s best for his little girl. Can Janie finally open her heart to David while watching the first man she ever truly loved fade away?

What an absolutely wonderful read, but you will need a box of Kleenex near by. This was a truly touching story about a father dying of lung cancer. J.M. Kelley did an excellent job of portraying emotions of death, there were points and times I was crying because the book was so sad but then there were times I was crying because the scenes were so heartfelt.
Yes even though Joe was dying of Cancer, I didn’t cry the entire book. His daughter Janie, who moved home to help him, was hilarious. Her hot and cold personality drove David( Joe’s neighbor) crazy, she liked him one day and one she wasn’t sure. I just loved the Banner between Janie and David as well as Janie and Joe. Janie had a great heart and good intentions but could be difficult. The attraction between Janie and David was great, they were perfect for each other!
Her Sister, Coleen had a heart of gold with great intentions, but was high maintenance and high strung. She came off as self-absorbed to begin with and I wasn’t sure I liked her, but really I think that was her coping mechanism.
Joe, my heart went out to him completely. He had to accept he was dying. He wasn’t an emotional, touchy feely guy almost gruff but had a wonderful heart, but he really let everyone know how much they meant to him. There were lots of heartfelt scenes. I highly recommend reading Daddy’s Girl but keep Kleenex close by!

Sandy Sullivan ~ Make Mine a Cowboy

Portrait of confident young man shirtless against grey backgrounMake Mine a Cowboy
by Sandy Sullivan

Mesa Arraguso writes about hot cowboys for a living. Being a romance writer has it perks and its drawbacks. She spends a lot of time alone in front of her computer, but she gets to fantasize about incredibly hot men wearing cowboy boots and Stetsons. While visiting San Antonio, Texas for a writer’s conference, she finds herself stranded on the back roads of Bandera only to be rescued by one of the most gorgeous men she’s ever encountered, be it fantasy or for real.

Joel Young is a cowboy. From the top of his Stetson to the tip of his dirty cowboy boots, he’s cowboy through and through. Along with rescuing women when they do silly things like running out of gas miles from town on a dirt road, he spends his days herding cattle, fixing fences and breaking horses.

Can one handsome cowboy and a city-girl from LA find common ground in the Hill Country long enough to see beyond a quick fling?

He laughed. “Yeah, I do. There’ve been a few women I wouldn’t make love to twice.”

“Really? I thought all guys were just in it for the end result. You know, gettin’ their rocks off.”

“Not if they are any good, they aren’t. It’s more fun for me to make sure the woman has several orgasms when I’m with her.”

The lump in her throat almost choked her. “Several?”

He leaned in and ran his tongue along her jawline until he reached her ear. “Yeah, several.”

Holy shit, he’s got one sexy voice. The lower rumble of his voice threw her heart into overdrive. The slow seep of moisture between her thighs surprised her. She never got this wet with her ex. Not from only a whisper in her ear. Those were things she wrote about in her novels, not something she experienced for herself. She swallowed hard.

“Um, Joel?”

“Yeah?” he asked, sliding his tongue around her earlobe.

“Damn, you’re good.”

He chuckled softly as he nipped the fleshy part of her ear between his teeth. She closed her eyes, letting the feelings overwhelm her. Hooking up with him probably wasn’t a good idea, but every time he got close to her, she couldn’t think of anything except getting him between the sheets to see how good he really was.

One hand slipped up her stomach to cup her breast. Two of his fingers plucked at her nipple through her bra and her whole world tilted on its axis. She’d always known her nipples were sensitive, but the slight pain of his pinch sent her body into a spiral of need.

His hand disappeared, reappearing under her shirt, pushing her bra out of the way. The warmth of his hand on her breast brought a moan to her lips. Seconds later, her shirt found its way over her head to leave her sitting on his lap in just her bra and jeans.

“God, you’re gorgeous. All curves.”

“You mean fat.”

“No, curves. I love curves on a woman. I’m not into skinny like a rail. I want something to hold onto when I’m pounding my cock into your sweet heat.”

“I want you to.”

“Shall we head into the other room where it’s more comfortable? Not that I wouldn’t love to make you come a dozen times right here on the couch first.”

“A dozen?” She gulped a lungful of air as shivers raked her body.

“Oh yeah.”

He stood with her in his arms and headed down the small hall toward the bedroom. She hadn’t got a good look at the bedroom when they came down here before, but she did now. He didn’t have a lot of furniture. Just a bed, a small nightstand, and a dresser. The deep blue comforter on the bed seemed typical guy décor. A shade on the window gave him privacy, but did nothing to soften the room. No curtains hung there. Nothing to indicate a woman had ever called this space home. Someday, one would, though. When, she didn’t know and didn’t want to think about right now, but yeah, someday he would bring a wife here until they could build a bigger home for children.

“You’re thinking too much,” he whispered, from behind her as he wrapped his arms around her.

“Yeah, probably.”

He cupped her breasts in both hands and tugged her back against his chest. “Your skin is so soft. I could eat you up.”

“I hope you do.”

“Oh, I plan on it, baby. I’m gonna eat you until you scream my name.”

“I don’t think it’ll take much.”

“Good.” He licked the side of her neck before he nipped at her collarbone. “I can’t wait to feel you ripple around me.”

He skimmed one hand down her abdomen, flicking open the button at her waist on his way to pulling her zipper down. The moment he had her pants parted, he slipped one hand under the waistband of her underwear to push a finger deep inside her pussy. “You’re wet, darlin’.”

“You’ve made me wet, Joel, with your sexy voice, wicked tongue, and demanding nips.”

“You’ll be wetter before I’m done with you.”
