Review – Troll-y Yours by Sheri Fredricks

Determined to forge a better life, Ella launches her new business with high hopes—until a sexy Centaur bumps into her and throws her life off course forever. Voted “Most Eligible Bachelor in Boronda”, Aleksander shakes up her world and tilts her in more ways than one.

Years of warfare and countless bedroom encounters have stolen Kempor Aleksander’s luster for life. He never expects to rediscover his zeal in the small, redheaded form of Ella the Troll, who fires his blood hotter than the deepest caverns in the forest.

But as trouble lingers in their midst—and edges ever closer—Alek and Ella spiral into troubled terrain. Turning to each other, the pair face down dangers that run impenetrably deep in their mythological world. But will the two lovers discover a passion that runs even deeper?

Review by Cara

All right, I gotta write this review quickly, because I can’t wait to go back and read Fredricks first book! Troll-y yours is a stand-alone novel, but I think the reading might have been enhanced if I had read them in order. No matter, this book was a great read! The very first chapter had me laughing, and hoping that the train of thought that Aleksander was having during an..uh..intimate encounter had never been thought in my presence!

Ella and Aleksander were definitely a two sides of the track sort of story, with Ella having poor self-esteem…I just realized her business fell by the wayside- I wonder what will happen there? Anyway, Aleksander (or Al Hedson, lol) is a centaur Casanova of great repute- and he falls hard for Ella. It is great fun to watch these two dance around one another, and see how they work through their own personal issues. And who ever thought Trolls could be sexy? Certainly not I, and as far as I know, they are very rarely (if ever?) portrayed as possibly handsome individuals.

Anyway, if you are looking for a fun, sexy fantasy read, this one is for you! Filled with intrigue, romance, humor, and a great cast of secondary characters, I bet you’ll devour this one as quickly as I did! I look forward to reading (much) more of this author. Why the comment about the first book? I didn’t really understand the way the kingdom worked- is is on the same plane as humans? Why don’t more people stumble into it? I’m always curious to learn more about a book.

Review – Bound for Disappointment: A Parody by Sheri Savill

Enter the glamorous world of BDSM erotica author and real-life submissive Tara Febreze … lisping sales girls, sabotage by a rival author named Vageena Royale … one Dom with a combover and a moped, another who writes books about his genitalia, and still another who can’t seem to get the hang of the whole “spanking” thing …

Tara Febreze is the bestselling author of Thoughtless Submission and other hot BDSM erotica novels. She’s seeking the Dom of her dreams, one who can make her … clenchy, as she calls it … all while dealing with irate readers who expect the moon and stars for ninety-nine cents, hostile ranting reviewers who follow her to conventions, protestors chanting her name outside a sex shop …

She’s also contending with a string of unexplained goldfish deaths and an embarrassing incident involving a neighbor’s topiary.

Will Tara find her dream Dom? Get her life together? Publish a book that sells a million copies? Find a Dom who knows how to spank? Solve the mystery of the dying goldfish? Or will she always be … BOUND FOR DISAPPOINTMENT?

Publisher’s Note: This is a parody about BDSM and erotica-writing, and is intended for adults only. It contains some offensive language, BDSM themes, truly mild spanking, and a Dom with bad dandruff. The book Thoughtless Submission does not exist, nor do the other books mentioned in this work.
Review by Cara
I decided to read and review this book as a total lark. I’m glad I did, as I was smiling throughout. Tara Febreze, a hardcore smut, er, I mean BSDM erotica writer, is a sub in desperate need of a Dom, and boy does she meet some characters. I laughed at the absurdity of the book, including the four Doms discussed within. I wonder how true to life Ms. Febreze’s response was to crazy fan email, or to critical reviews…I want to point out all the funny bits here, and say, Oh, wait till you see this, or read that. A mark of any funny book- when you can’t wait for someone else to read it, so you can giggle about it together.

Anyway, I’d recommend this book for a quick read…it’ll keep a smile on your face, and even earn a few giggles. As usual for a parody, it displays some of the obvious inane senseless things that are present in real life, so we can all point at them and laugh.

Review – Romancing the Fox- John Tucker

Fledgling producer John McKenzie seeks to give his first movie some Hollywood buzz by hiring a porn actress to star in it. After flying to Los Angeles to interview seven preselected women, McKenzie makes his decision and shocks himself by falling in love with the actress he calls ‘The One.’

While she gradually warms to his confident, but unrealistic notions about love and relationships, the mismatched couple find their budding romance hindered by well-meaning friends, bitter enemies, and jealous associates.

Romancing the Fox is an adult contemporary romance/drama/comedy that will pull at your heartstrings, tickle your funny bone, and make you believe in love, while giving you a peek at the carnal machinations of the adult movie industry

Allyson’s Review

Wow!! I don’t think I have ever read about more conniving, manipulative, complex women. I honestly couldn’t put the book down, this storyline could easily make a wonderful soap opera. There wasn’t a woman in this book that didn’t have lots of determination.
Jenna was my favorite by far. Jenna was a porn star whom got a chance to be in a real movie with top actresses. Jenna had overcome challenges, she was determined but not malicious. She stood up for herself when she needed to but not unless provoked.
John was the screen writer and helping to produce the movie. He was such a great guy even though he was kind of naive and oblivious. He really did have a heart of gold, Which makes it understandable why so many woman feel for him. He only had eyes for Jenna which made all the other women even crazier. This was a great book, I highly recommend reading. I am ready for the sequel so I can find out what happens next.

Dreams of Ivory
Holiday Montana #5
by Carrie Ann Ryan
Release Day: July 16, 2013

DreamsOfIvory_proofJackson Cooper hates magic. Even though his brothers are falling prey to the seductive draw of the paranormal world, Jackson wants nothing to do with it. He also wants nothing to do with marriage, babies, and all that comes with it. He’s content with being the stoic, but quiet Uncle Jacks. But when a woman from his past, one he’s been dodging for years, comes back to town, Jackson might have to reevaluate his plans.

Honor Bridges is the tooth fairy. Well, not the tooth fairy, but at least one of them. For the past eight years she’s been on her own, hiding from what she truly wants. Now she’s back in Holiday and ready to take over her duties…as well as deal with Jackson once and for all. But there’s another player in town who isn’t happy with the decisions she made all those years ago and Jackson might be the one who takes the brunt of that anger.

Warning: Contains a wickedly spicy tooth fairy–complete with sparkly wings, the most tortured of all the Cooper brothers in all his broodiness, and dreams that are sure to make you never want to wake up in this final Cooper Brother’s installment of the Holiday, Montana series.
